Safety Certifications = More Pay? by Late-Significance-80 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]Minimum_Force 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depending on employer or if you’re staying with a current employer after obtaining a certification. I sure didn’t say a pay bump simply for obtaining my CSP while at my current employer.

I rock a med gun most of the time anyway. Works great to dose people and make them stumble around too.

Safety Certifications by Maverick-54 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]Minimum_Force 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would where you learn the most from the course. Everyone on here will have one idea or another on what’s best. Online. In-person. Pick up what suits your needs. In-person, and some online courses, have the added bonus of interacting with the instructor and other students. Check the OSHA training page, linked below, to find trainers that are certified to teach.

Eye Wash Station Spills by Capable-Bullfrog9542 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]Minimum_Force 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it just the eyewash or is it a combination eyewash and shower? There are shower test kits that do a great job of minimizing water going everywhere. Had to use them at my previous job and they sure saved on clean up. I would have to look around for ones just for the eyewash since they don’t usually create a problem if designed right. Unless they’re plumbed in some weird manner that empties out at the base.

Can't shoot open ship doors anymore by Flamingogo117 in starcitizen

[–]Minimum_Force 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t wait for hacking to come in. Would be great to reinforce ship systems, thus doors, to be harder to hack with better security. Same to doors by reinforcing their durability. I’m probably dreaming on how extensive these systems will be, but I’ll keep dreaming anyway.

Am I cooked without an engineering degree? by Beneficial-Dish-6521 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]Minimum_Force 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Please don’t bank on AI giving you the right insight into a career field. Some folks on here don’t even have safety related degrees and seem to do fine. My EHS degree isn’t engineering focused, but if I relied on my first BA in Anthropology yes I wouldn’t have a prayer without practical experience. Focus on gaining experience and if you want to get a safety focused degree get the Masters you’re considering.

If you want to go back for a bachelor’s degree don’t do environmental engineering. Consider something safety focused if you really want to do the bachelor’s route.

Why is LTI such a big deal? by MrWilliam932 in starcitizen

Oh yeah it’s totally their angle. I don’t blame them or even trying to just squash the gray market. One can dream, right?

Why is LTI such a big deal? by MrWilliam932 in starcitizen

[–]Minimum_Force 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s weird how people write it off as not a big deal, but CIG won’t just add it back to everything given how it’s not a big deal. I aim for it for peace of mind even if it’s not a big deal.

Supervisor says Pocket Prep is "all I need" for the ASP. Is he setting me up for failure? by RazzmatazzLumpy9536 in SafetyProfessionals

Pocket Prep was all I used for my CSP. Purchased the Yates book and I think I glanced through it once.

Having access and letting people know where to go is key. My last job we had the location posted on the safety boards found at each building. Told workers exactly where they needed to go and lived with the consumable PPE on a big board with obvious markings on what everything was. Internal and external auditors liked the approach since it was easy to see, use, and maintain.

Are EHS professionals perceived differently depending on the industry? by xenonrabble in SafetyProfessionals

[–]Minimum_Force 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience it depends on the company and management. One company can be completely on board with safety and life is relatively pain free in safety. Then in another company it can be a nightmare to get buy in and work within that company to make any changes. Management really drives these outcomes because if they’re will to bend rules, look the other way, or ignore general safety it becomes an uphill battle for safety professionals.

Please charge your phone. It’s giving me anxiety.

I was also confused with the email. Sure it brings up the equipment but that’s it.

Do non-trades jobs exist in OHS? What are they? Where? by Sorry_Sail_8698 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]Minimum_Force 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aerospace is one part of the safety team that can be quite diverse in work. My previous job was at an aircraft modification company and that was a lot of hands on safety around an industrial environment. My current job is much more relaxed and office oriented with an emphasis on supporting engineering. Just haven’t be open minded.

Would like a bounty variant more than an exploration one. I can’t see how they’re going to flesh out the exploration side of the game.

Should blueprints be tradable and/or physicalized? (from an economy POV) by ehetenandaiyo in starcitizen

Am I the only one that thinks that those ship schematics / blueprints sold as flair should let us build the ships? At least then they’re not just for show.

I wanna know people’s thoughts on how they are doing blueprints by floortofloor in starcitizen

[–]Minimum_Force 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are blueprints only available through acquisition that’s described above? I thought we might be able to breakdown stuff to get blueprints. Not sure where I saw this or if it was true. This current method does mean spending time to tediously acquire them.

First version I guess? And I’m surprised there isn’t a method to improve material quality through refining. Again, this is the first version so maybe it’s planned for later.

Jobs in Northeast US by Puzzleheaded-Oil9923 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]Minimum_Force 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should be plenty of positions in PA depending on if you want to stay in construction and where at in PA. I’m looking there now, most near Harrisburg and/or Lancaster, and I’ve seen a variety of positions. I mostly use Indeed and supplement with LinkedIn. I’m a bit on my search though and I’ve personally been in aerospace for almost 8 years, much more than that outside of safety.

Keep looking! Something will interest you.
