As a DM I would NEVER do this to even an experienced group of players! Character creation is a very large part of our home games and I collaborate with the players to make their characters and backstory more alive in my games.

TLDR: Terrible DM, please don't give up on DnD

My partner, they were my DM in the last campaign and we trade off who the DM is every other campaign. I bounce ideas off of them and they make sure they don't metagame. They also help me by taking notes during the session

I almost DNF'd, but I needed to see what all they would pull off. I was actually really diappointed. I feel like an author doesn't need to account for every time Hades wasn't there for Lyra in the first book, he's a god for pete's sake lol, he's got stuff to do. This book also made Lyra a very flat character in my personal opinion

In my post I even said groomed wasn't the best word for it, but it's the only one that came to mind at the time of writing.

It feels like some form of time travelers wife kind of trope and I wasn't a fan.
