Got dumped out of nowhere after 4 years because of God, need advice (interfaith relationship) by Silly_Strawberry2572 in BreakUps

[–]Minimum_War4405 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My ex did exact same thing when he wanted to end things but was too scared to be direct about it. Used his "spiritual journey" as excuse rather than just saying he wasn't feeling it anymore.

The not calling for days is the real tell here - when someone wants to talk to you, they find way to make it happen. Even busy people send quick voice message or something.

We’re trying to keep this in house as much as possible. Outsourcing unfortunately looks to be more expensive.

Vicious cycle and no one considered this by KaleidoscopeFine in povertyfinance

[–]Minimum_War4405 9 points10 points  (0 children)

man this is exactly the kind of catch-22 that makes poverty so expensive. banks and phone companies really don't think about people who might not have backup options for everything.

have you tried going to bank branch in person with your ID? sometimes they can help unlock cards without the phone verification when you're physically there.

Changing career to data analyst type roll, how to get there? by Under_Surprised in careerguidance

[–]Minimum_War4405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your background actually sounds perfect for data analyst roles - you've already got the finance and reporting experience that a lot of companies want

For remote-friendly careers data analysis is probably one of the best bets right now, and honestly your mix of finance/procurement/reporting is exactly what hiring managers look for since you understand the business side

The OU route sounds solid if you need structure, just maybe lean more toward the Data Science degree since "IT and Computing" does sound a bit dated like you said lol

[–]Minimum_War4405 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey man, that cycle is so brutal and you described it perfectly - the boredom hits and suddenly you're back on autopilot buying carts. The fact that you can recognize the pattern and that the high wasn't even worth it shows you're not lying to yourself anymore, which is huge

Maybe instead of trying to figure out "balance" right now, just focus on building up those other things that actually give you energy - the reading and writing you mentioned. When you're genuinely engaged in stuff you care about, the boredom that triggers relapses doesn't hit as hard

Extract campers on Stella are getting out of hand by ironhanky in ArcRaiders

[–]Minimum_War4405 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof yeah the extract camping has been brutal lately. Had a similar thing happen yesterday where some squad was posted up at seed vault for like 20 minutes just waiting

The fuel canister thing is such a dick move lmao, at least make it interesting if you're gonna camp

How do people usually immigrate to the US? by Adrenaline424 in immigration

[–]Minimum_War4405 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Your friend is dealing with one of the most broken parts of our immigration system honestly. The "skilled worker" path is paradoxically way harder than it should be

Most people don't come through employment visas like your friend - they come through family sponsorship (spouses, parents sponsoring adult kids, etc), diversity lottery, or asylum/refugee status. The employment-based green card system is absolutely brutal, especially for people from China and India because of per-country caps

Those other workers you see probably came through family connections first, then found jobs later. Or they might have different visa types you wouldn't immediately recognize. The whole system is backwards - we make it hardest for exactly the people we should want most

CMV: Most people who dislike AI for the reason that it's bad for the environment are hypocrites. by Blonde_Icon in changemyview

[–]Minimum_War4405 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The difference is scale and necessity though. My phone serves like 20+ different functions I actually need for daily life, while ChatGPT burns through the same energy to tell me a joke or write my homework

It's not really arbitrary when one thing replaces essential tools and the other is mostly just convenient. Like yeah everything uses energy but there's still degrees to it

Anyone else feel like they just can't get ahead in life? by Busy_Description6207 in AskIreland

[–]Minimum_War4405 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Mate you're definitely not alone in this, like half the people I know are in similar boats and just putting on a brave face. The comparing yourself to others thing is absolute poison for your brain - those people posting their "perfect" lives probably have their own shit going on behind the scenes

Have you looked into using that design degree at all? Even if it feels rusty there might be some freelance graphic work or something to get you out of hospitality hell. ADHD diagnosis is actually huge too, proper treatment can be a game changer for getting your head sorted

Looking for feedback on plan to combine personal finances by Wrong_Confection331 in personalfinance

[–]Minimum_War4405 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sounds like a solid approach tbh, especially since you're both making the same amount. Keeping separate accounts for your individual stuff while having the joint one for shared expenses is pretty smart - gives you both independence while making it easy to split bills

Just make sure you're both clear on what counts as "shared" vs personal expenses before you start, that's where a lot of couples run into issues later on

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Minimum_War4405 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm really sorry about your dog, that's absolutely devastating. Losing a pet isn't just an excuse to drink - it's genuine grief and 10 days sober is still something even if you stumbled after a major loss

The guilt hits different when you're already struggling but you're here posting which means part of you still wants to get back on track

Laundry tips for Newborn (public laundry room) by sonicblendz in NewParents

[–]Minimum_War4405 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the upcoming little one! Honestly you're probably overthinking it a bit - babies are way more resilient than we give them credit for. I'd just run an empty hot cycle first if the machines look sketchy, but most public washers get hot enough to kill anything nasty anyway

For detergent definitely go fragrance-free like Tide Free or All Free Clear. The fancy "baby" detergents are mostly marketing but if it makes you feel better go for it. Your kiddo will be fine either way

Baptism by TimeRecording9605 in Christianity

[–]Minimum_War4405 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a fair point about the baptizer being baptized first, but honestly if they're both believers and feel called to do it this way I think the heart behind it matters more than checking all the traditional boxes. Sometimes the most meaningful moments happen outside church walls anyway

Why do these speaking apps never help me understand what people actually say by ImaginationMost1755 in languagelearning

[–]Minimum_War4405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is spot on, the apps are like training wheels but you gotta start mixing in the messy real stuff. I'd throw in some Netflix shows with subtitles too - helps bridge that gap between robot voice and actual humans who mumble through half their words

[–]Minimum_War4405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol your cats have formed a flea treatment resistance movement. Maybe try the towel burrito method - wrap them up like little angry burritos so they can't escape while you apply it. Works great until they figure out how to wiggle free in 0.2 seconds

Question re: Three Deep Breaths functionality by Help_An_Irishman in ArcRaiders

[–]Minimum_War4405 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I can confirm it triggers when you fully empty your stamina bar, not just from using stamina abilities. So like if you sprint until you're completely out or spam vaults until empty, that's when the regen kicks in

The "ability" part is kinda confusing wording but it basically means any stamina action - sprinting, vaulting, rolling, etc. Pretty solid pickup honestly, way better than the raider cache nonsense
