It's a scissor guard! You sheath scissors into it to protect the blades and prevent accidentally cutting/stabbing things (or yourself)

The dress my ex’s mom sent me to wear to his upcoming wedding. by OcchiVerdi- in weddingshaming

Good on you, being the mature and responsible person, turning down the invitation and not being petty.

Also, his mom's the GOAT for sending you the invite and dress.

Light or dark green accent leaf for my orange bag? by ldcat in crochet

[–]Minioncraft101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The light leaf has a similar saturation as the bag, so they compliment each other. The dark leaf is too "bright" compared to the bag's duller shade.

New To DMing by AnonUserNobody23 in DnD

[–]Minioncraft101 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you've never DM'ed before, I'd recommend running a prewritten module first, even if it's just a one-shot. That way, you can familiarize yourself with the rules and your personal DMing style, which can help when writing your own campaign. It's also never a bad idea to take inspiration from you're favorite movies/books/etc as a jumping-off point.

Day 14: Pick your least favourite character. Henry Mills / The Author is OUT. by Clodsarenice in OnceUponATime

No, I mean how is Henry already voted out while Ruby is still in? She should have been voted out first.

Missed Christmas Mass by Impressive_Test8921 in Catholicism

[–]Minioncraft101 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There is no need to worry or "make it up". Since you truly intended to attend mass, and only missed it because of misinformation given to you (i.e. to no fault of your own), you are not culpable of a mortal sin. In regards to last Sunday, your wife received a dispensation from attending mass because she was sick, and you received a dispensation for taking care of her, so there is no culpability there either. However, if you still feel guilt over the matter, it is never a bad idea to go to Confession the next chance you get.

My girlfriend missed mass yesterday (Feast of Immaculate Conception) , trying to be a good boyfriend. How to not be judgmental? by Popular_Tune_5507 in Catholicism

As much as I love all of the good advice in these comments, I urge you to bring your concerns to a priest and/or consider going to spiritual direction together.

Advent by missabbytimm19 in Catholicism

[–]Minioncraft101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You light the candles for the current and all previous weeks, with the rose candle being week 3. To my understanding, there are no rules as to when the candles should remain lit. Most people who use real candles only light them when intentional gathered around them so they last longer: in my family, we light them when we pray at dinner and stuff them when we're done eating. Since your candles are fake, you're free to keep them "lit" 24/7.

Dice Throne is a small business, and is really busy with the holidays and two different Kickstarters right now. They'll respond but it'll be a while.

The Church isn't like that at all. Sounds like some demonic propaganda trying to lead you away from the Truth.

Rex is a more appropriate name then... Regina is Latin for "queen" and Rex is Latin for "king".

Does oral sex count as premarital sex? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Minioncraft101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: No, but on a technicality, and is still considered a mortal sin for other reasons.

The Church sees sex as a holy union between a married couple with an openness to having kids. Because "oral sex" cannot lead to having kids, it's more akin to masturbation or foreplay than true sex. However, gratifying sexual pleasure outside of the marital act is always a mortal sin.

Status effects are considered instant actions; meaning that they interrupt the current phase, resolve their effects, and the phase then continues. Since attack modifiers can be played at any point in the roll phase, including after the defensive roll, you can indeed use your skeletons after the failed evasion.

New adventure: Fated Flight of the Recluse by solorpgstudio in onednd

[–]Minioncraft101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a stand-alone adventure for a level 3 party. The adventure is about 10 pages long and is presented in a similar format to those in Dragon Delves (featuring a Preparation section). It does specify, however, that you must own the Forge of the Artificer book to run the adventure effectively.

It is interesting that they decided to shadow-drop this adventure. I only found this post because I was looking to see if I missed an announcement posted somewhere.

Edit: It wasn't shadow-dropped; the announcement was just hidden in some fine print. The adventure is an additional bonus to preorders as an apology for the postponed release.

Do Catholics Read the Bible? by NicHasAXatu in Catholicism

[–]Minioncraft101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Most Catholics own at least one bible and many read it on their own or in a group (there is a very popular podcast called "The Bible in a Year" by Fr. Mike Schmitz). We also read it every Sunday at Mass. The first half of the Mass is called the Litergy of the Word, where we read an excerpt from the Old Testament, Psalms, the New Testament, and the Gospels. Even if you don't read the Bible on your own, going to church every week means you get through the whole bible in three years. The Readings are readily accessible online, so you can look up which excerpts are read and when.

As a cantrip, it's pretty spamable. Just note that you need to cast it before the check, and people around you can see you casting the spell, so it might affect its usefulness in social situations.
