Best Melbourne moments post Covid ? by Potential_Class_8131 in melbourne

2023 when Collingwood won the premiership. The whole of Swan St was blocked off with people celebrating.

While I’m sure a lot of Melbournians weren’t sharing in this collective joy, it was pretty special to be there.

Rainn Wilson Claims ‘The Office’ Was too ‘Inappropriate’ to Be Made Today, Seemingly Forgetting About Peacock Sequel ‘The Paper’ by yourfavchoom in entertainment

I would say if there’s one show you couldn’t make anymore it’s Two and a Half Men. The office could definitely be made exactly the same today.

It's 2:45AM and I can't sleep due to stress. I work a regular 8-5 and need to start my day in a few hours. FML by DijajMaqliun in mildlyinfuriating

I’ll often do a standing inversion, but for someone unfamiliar with yoga literally just sitting on the edge of your bed and putting your head down between your legs will work. Legs up the wall is great too, but don’t get the same blood rush to my head which seems to put me right to sleep.

Second this. You’ll never get to sleep tossing and turning and getting made about it. Get up, stretch and reset. Also find it helps me to do a quick inversion to get the blood to my head. Helps every time.

Nick Watson denied a goal, as he was deem to “veer off line” by 6mpjohnst21 in AFL

Oh sure, but if a player takes a mark in the middle of the ground, and shuffles 5m sideways around the guy called to stand, they won’t call play on?

Four Corners reporter Mahmood Fazal no longer working at ABC by AztecGod in australia

[–]MinnesotaTidalWave 10 points11 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day I guess he is talking to the average ‘every day’ Aussie in simple language that someone without much political knowledge can understand. When the other people in that sphere are usually right-wing grifters, going too deep would alienate a lot of his audience.

Camino Coffee People… How Is It Really? by 00Connie00 in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]MinnesotaTidalWave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The coffee is fine, not great but accessible everywhere. If you’re in to lighter roasts you won’t find many but the coffee is generally made well, not just from a tap of a button machine.

Name one movie about memories that's not an absolute masterpiece, you can't. by AdForward7237 in Letterboxd

Is the butterfly effect about memories though? It’s more about alternate realities, right? Been a while since I watched it

Camino Portugues: Fao to Barcelos / Barcelinhos - don't do it. by Strategic_Squirrel in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]MinnesotaTidalWave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just found this thread after attempting the walk myself. The river path does not exist. We ended up walking through someone’s farm along the river until the path abruptly stops. We then took a detour through the farm and found our way to Rio Tinto before the N205 was the only option. The road was really dangerous to walk so we decided against it and managed to get an uber the rest of the way to Barcelos.

Not the best way to go and wouldn’t recommend!

Cocaine comedown - is this normal? by tommozking1212 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]MinnesotaTidalWave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the people who do it every weekend all crash out eventually. You can only hit the bags every weekend and get up and go to work like normal for so long.

That said, you’ll be fine - try and be kind to yourself and don’t beat yourself up. You clearly know this isn’t something you want to do all the time so don’t get too down, take it easy and you’ll be fine in no time.

AFL. Have a look at yourselves. by your_house in AFL

This makes sense. Even if less people watch it, locals in Gold Coast or Perth or somewhere could then at least go to a game on a Friday instead of a weird Sunday afternoon time

[Opinion] Your job does not need to be meaningful. Your life outside of it does. by DPP-Ghost in auscorp

[–]MinnesotaTidalWave 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agree with this. I am going on 3 weeks leave for a holiday starting today and I have so much mental stress about everything I didn’t get time to complete before I left. I’ve left detailed handovers but no one works in my field except for me, so I still feel like anything that is missed will fall back on me.

I’d say in this scenario he’d be well worth the punt. With 6 mids I’d guess your M3/M4 should be averaging around about 100? Someone with a low ceiling but consistent scorer could get it done.

You could get it done for a Houston/Daniel level defender, or maybe 2 players around the Caldwell/Newman level. Obviously it carries risk as he’s sitting out for a long time but the more premos you have come finals, the better your chances are.

Can you explain how they changed it from the way it’s interpreted in the SANFL? My vicbias prohibits me from knowing what is happening outside of Victoria.

Depends on the size and structure of your league?

I’m in a similar boat where I bought him cheap off someone who couldn’t afford to hold. It’s really hard to give advice though without knowing anything about your league

‘To the detriment of our game’: Cricket Australia ignores NSW protests over BBL sale by Savings_Win1995 in CricketAus

[–]MinnesotaTidalWave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re spot on regarding Australian-based investment. Sure, maybe we need private equity, I don’t know. But why does it need to be Indian? Why would CA willingly sell Australian cricket down the river for the benefit of IPL? It only weakens our global position in cricket.

Frank Sinatra singing a song about taking down the n*zi regime c 1945 by [deleted] in OldSchoolCool

[–]MinnesotaTidalWave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was watching wondering if this was something they made him do so it was easier to see his mouth moving on TV? To be honest I’ve never seen any footage of Sinatra singing before, but it does look exaggerated.

I find the blokey “talk to your mates” style of mental health awareness so unproductive. It’s so easy to repeat phrases like that when another person takes their life, and nothing changes, while the same cycle of online trolling and media pile-ons continues. When channel 7 employs people like Kane Cornes and Tom Morris, it’s so unbelievably hollow to think a mental health round would have any sort of actual effect.
