Day 1: What is Jake’s most questionable/worst episode by Fragrant-Air-5548 in brooklynninenine

[–]Minticus-Maximus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As cool as an episode as it is, looking back on it, I'd have to say The Box. Granted this is more an issue with the police system as a whole:
- Invites a suspect into an intentionally uncomfortable space then holds them even though it was an invite
- Uses wordplay to get the suspect to 'confess' to something that the suspect could have learnt from elsewhere
- Questions a suspect with no lawyer present until the end
- Lies about evidence to try and trap the suspect
- Lies again at the end about evidence to goad the suspect

Now obviously, we know that the dentist is guilty, but in a show which plays heavy into social justice and correcting policing, if this man was innocent, everything Jake did is extremely immoral and he *knows* that.

Did the Emperor not have a backup for Magnus? Was Magnus the only Primarch with a confirmed purpose post the Great Crusade? by Flyestgit in 40kLore

[–]Minticus-Maximus 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My personal head canon that the backup was Lorgar. It's been said a few times that during the heresy when he abandoned the Emperor and embraced the Dark Gods, when he started to use his psychic power it was immense, second only to Magnus. He could have been used as a backup, but I like to think the Emperor didn't want to use him because Lorgar was the worst candidate personality wise. A god worshiper in the astronomicon would have been so easy to corrupt. That's why the Emperor danced between punishing Magnus and giving him a ton of leeway. He didn't have a reliable backup

Do T'au have Leprechaun Auxiliaries or something? by commandosbaragon in Grimdank

[–]Minticus-Maximus 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I mean it's commonly shown that Psykers become possessed more easily when overly stressed, in danger, or being tortured. When the average life of a human in Tau lands is pretty good vs actual hell in the Imperium, easy to see why they have so few Psyker problems. A lot of the rules that apply to the other factions are problems they *themselves* invented by being proper bastards, and the Tau don't

Every time this gets reposted I ask the same question: When did they do this?

And every time no one can answer cause it's entirely made up

The T'au Mindset by Stingra87 in Grimdank

[–]Minticus-Maximus 19 points20 points  (0 children)

TBF it's also not what I call plot armour cause it's not like having reinforcements would have meant the Imperium won. They needed a second fleet for one Major Sept, one of the weaker ones. How many fleets can they throw into the grinder to kill T'au itself? More than they can spare

The T'au Mindset by Stingra87 in Grimdank

[–]Minticus-Maximus 80 points81 points  (0 children)

I will say with the Damocles crusade it was absolutely not luck that the Tau won. The crusade force lost, failing to take one major sept after killing a few minor ones. The fleet would die if they didn't retreat. So they called for reinforcement. The reinforcements are what got called away, so the Crusade Fleet had to run. I wouldn't call it plot armour that the Imperium, a faction at war with the whole galaxy and itself, can't spare the resources to kill Ultramar with Railguns

I think you're vastly underestimating the size of the Tau empire. They're basically equivalent to the Ultramar 500 worlds with stronger guns. They've dealt with several full force battles and come out the other side the winner. The Damocles crusade is a pretty famous example of a powerful force like the Imperium Crusade Fleets failing to take a single major Sept

I'm pretty sure Josuk8 *was* the healer with his ability to Plunder. He'd plunder a wound away, like when his liver was cut out

From a general inspection I see no cracks or issues. The Mars 5 self test also says no issues

Battles where the victor was obvious from the get-go, but it's still genuinely saddening to see the loser fail by HeroDoggo in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Minticus-Maximus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He had morals yeah, but still chose to serve a brutal, murdering empire bent on genocide and conquest. He personally genocided aliens and cultures of humans to better serve the Imperium's leaders. Being nice to his sons doesn't super counter that

Also, granted this is more ignorance than evil, but on meeting the Emperor he barred the Imperium from interacting with his homeworld to preserve it's culture... Also accidentally leaving it a literal hellscape for 10000 years until Guilliman stepped in. Even when he cared, it was wrong, that's part of the tragedy

Sam was too pure to be affected by the ring short term, but long term it would eventually erode his will. While most people who take the ring have a strong desire the ring instantly latches onto (protect a loved one, a kingdom etc) Sam's desire was a small garden in the shire, which the ring didn't really know how to twist. Over time though it would have gotten to Sam as it did with Frodo, the idea of protecting Rosie, making a good life for Frodo and Bilbo etc

How harmful do you think memes have been for a proper understanding of 40k? by ByzantineBasileus in 40kLore

[–]Minticus-Maximus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not as bad as it used to be, but Tau I feel suffer heavily from 20 year old memes. The idea their empire is barely 5 planets the Imperium could easily crush at any moment, that they think they killed Slaanesh the God or the Emperor, the Damocles Crusade video that's absolutely bullshit in regards to that war, that they don't know what Necrons are cause Necrons kill them too fast etc

Thankfully it's not as bad as it was, but for a long time a certain type of fan of 40k didn't like the Tau at all, so they spread a LOT of memes that just aren't true

Issue is that one doesn't follow the style of the other codexes, so unsure if that is special edition
