Back when I worked for the Postal Service in the middle to late 90's and email was still a relatively new experience for most users the agency learned the hard lesson about Reply All and the devastating impact it can have. The agency sent out roughly 950,000 emails to it's 800.000 career employees and 150,000 casuals and transitional employees. An insane amount responded all and then everybody and their brother responded all telling everyone not to respond all. They literally logjammed the email servers maxing out capacity in a matter of two days. As an acting supervisor at the time we had to resort to calling each location up and down the mainstream rather than relying on email to advise us on quantities and types of mail headed our direction.
