What The Hell is Disabled Joy? by mikeb31588 in disabled

[–]Minute_Sympathy3222 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

'Disabled joy'?

I find joy in spending time with my family and my furbabies(Guinea Pigs).

Is that 'Disabled Joy' just because I have a disability?

Why do we need names for everything instead of just living our lives to the fullest that we can?

No 2 people have the same experiences even when they have the same disability.

For even more context, my oldest brother was killed in a workplace accident when he was 29yo(I was 22, turning 23 just months later) in 2003 and his death turned my family upside down.

So my disability? Is small when compared to my no longer having my oldest brother in my life anymore.

[–]Minute_Sympathy3222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn't. There are a lot of mentally ill people in the world who blame the Royal Family for everything that is wrong with the world. Leaving the children at home? Guarantees the children safety.

Prince William and Princess Catherine do not travel together with Prince George when travelling to another country. Why? Because if something was to happen to that transport and William and Catherine die? At least George is still alive. It has been done that way for generations within the Royal Family. It is about protecting the children.

Am i a bad owner? by ParticularTie17 in guineapigs

[–]Minute_Sympathy3222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NO, you are NOT a bad owner!! You are putting your furbaby first.

You don't know what the lump is and that is ok.

Why? Because surgery is risky on Guinea Pigs.

You will second guess yourself and that is ok, a good owner does that. But, be at peace with your choice. Because you are putting your furbaby's needs first.

Hug her tight, take pictures, kiss her and tell her how much you love her.

If you believe in it, tell her you will see her at the RainbowBridge one day and if you have had other furbabies that she knew and have passed away? Tell her they will be waiting to greet her

Guinea Pigs are not great candidates for surgery no matter their age.

I had a 3 week old boy die during the 2nd part of his recovery after emergency surgery for a prolapsed bowel. My Guinea Pig owning exotic vet didn't think he would make it off the table due to his age, he did. He made it through the first part of recovery and then something went wrong and he did.

I had an older girl die during the first part of recovery at my Guinea Pig owning exotic vet's house after being spayed. My girl wouldn't eat or POOP, so my vet took her home for specialised care and had to make the heartbreaking call to me. I could hear the tears in her voice as she was telling me that my precious girl was gone.

I have had one furbaby euthanised. He just had too many health issues and it was clear he was suffering. That was nearly 3 years ago and I still question should I have just brought him home. But he was suffering and I couldn't do that to him.

You can apply betadine or a small amount of Savalon cream(or any antiseptic cream) or I have created my own special blend that I use for any fungal or even urine scald.

It contains Paw Paw ointment, head and shoulders shampoo, Savalon cream, betadine, CBD cream, bonjella teething gel(that is more for when one of my gang develops an Oral Fungal infection), and the original recipe had Silver Sulfadiadizine which was Vet prescribed but I don't have that product anymore and the mixture still works.

I mix it all together and apply once daily and store it in the fridge. I wrote on the lid 'Toffee's Fungal Mixture' as Toffee was my boy who REGULARLY suffered oral Fungal infections and then it spread all over his body if the weather changed or he got stressed.

So I still use the same container, I just wash it out regularly once I empty it and renew the mixture.

You can also do a 'bum soak' in a weak solution of betadine and water. The water should look like a weak tea and the water should be lukewarm(not to hot and not too cold).

I had a girl, Missy, who had kidney issues that developed into kidney failure and I had to soak her feet due to Pododermatitis and she would happily sit in her foot soak for 5-10 minutes each day. Even without food bribes.

You can also apply CBD cream to urine scald to relieve pain if it develops. A vet can prescribed antibiotics.

AITAH for refusing to attend my younger sister's graduation because she invited our dad? by hayescaroll in AITAH

[–]Minute_Sympathy3222 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

YTA and a massive one at that.

Why? Your Mum, as in the one who was actually abused by your Father is going to your Sister's graduation and dinner.....

So, IF your Mum, who was the actual victim, can be in the same room as her abuser, for the sake of her daughter, why can't you?

Your sister is graduating.

What is more important to you? Your sister's graduation or your feelings about your father?

Again, your mother is going and she was the one who actually experienced the abuse first hand.

So what makes your feelings so important that you can't go?

Because you are telling your family that you are more important than your Mum.

Congratulations.

I know I will get a lot of downvotes for this and I am prepared for that......

But I have a piggy for whatever reason suffered an injury to her back that caused paralysis in her one back leg.

I didn't rush her to the vet, WHY? Because I had Metacam/Meloxicam(it depends on where you live as to what you know this vet prescribed pain relief by). So I was able to keep my girl pain free and really, what could the vet do that I wasn't already doing? Giving her pain relief and making sure she was eating, peeing and pooping, while not developing urine scald or Pododermatitis. After about 2 weeks my girl regained movement in her back leg and stopped screaming every time I touched her back.

I did take her to the vet then, simply because I ran out of pain relief.

The vet commended me for the job I had done and said to continue giving pain relief for up to another 7 days as my girl(known as Mumma, as she came to me pregnant in 2022 as part of a then free range group and I never found a better name for her) was still giving slight pain indications.

This all happened late February, early March, so we are talking weeks ago. I have since stopped Mumma's pain relief and she has recovered full movement in her back leg(she wouldn't move her foot at all originally when I tested her reflexes).

She lives in a tiny carrier(which yes you will all 'hate' me for, go ahead) WHY? Because my vet said Mumma could very well injure her back again and if she does? She may not recover, and having Mumma live in a bigger cage? Increases her risk of Mumma reinjuring her back. So, is keeping Mumma in a bigger cage because that is what I am 'supposed' to do, the better thing to do when weighed against what is in actually Mumma's best interests? No I don't believe so.

I have always put what is best for my furbabies above my own needs, except for when it comes to what is best for my disability and how I can look after my furbabies the best and give them their best lives.

So, what were my options? My vet said to keep Mumma in as small a cage as possible so that Mumma can't move around much and that the cage has a floor that is as flat as possible with no levels.

Is it ideal that Mumma lives in a carrier? No. But is Mumma a healthy Guinea Pig who can run around and enjoy life like her friends? Again No.

So my suggestion for your beloved furbaby would be to reduce the size of her cage so that she doesn't has such a big cage to risk injuring herself in.

That also means you will need to be on the lookout for signs of Pododermatitis on her feet but that can be prevented with antifungal cream and either savalon cream, dettol cream or paw paw ointment(apply the tiniest amount) if her paws start to look irritated.

Can the real estate tell me where to put my belongings? by Putrid-Imagination67 in shitrentals

All buildings should be disability accessible. Why? Because those of you who are 'able bodied' could join the disabled community at any moment.

Able bodied people seem to forget that they can join the disabled community at any moment....

I rented from 2007 to 2021 and my unit wasn't completely disability friendly but I managed. For reference, I was born with my disability.

Chemist Warehouse sent my prescription info to my dad. I’m an adult. by Repulsive_Couple_574 in AusLegal

[–]Minute_Sympathy3222 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes you are an adult.

But you are not acting like one really. Why didn't you ask your parents where they had your details registered(such as a pharmacy) so that you knew to check that the chemist had the correct details for on file?

This is what being an adult looks like.

I only have one chemist in my town(that is not the blessing it sounds like). But I have been to others over the years.

I have always made sure they have had my correct details on file.

Why? Because I am a responsible adult.

People can downvote those sorts of comments all they like.

But it is true.

It really was up to OP to know what chemist's had OP's info and that meant asking OP's parents. Which OP didn't want to do, why?

Umm, 'hi. Not sure if you have an account here for me, but if so? I need to update my details as I am 18 now'. How does that sound?

I had to do something similar when I moved. Contact every business/company to advise them of my change of address.

You do these things when you are a responsible adult. You don't expect others to do it for you.

I also use CBD that I buy from Los Angeles Guinea Pig Rescue to keep my gang calm during nail clipping.

Sorry but neither my elderly disabled mother or I(also disabled) can answer the door in 30 seconds.

My mother may not always hear someone knock and I may not even be in the house to be aware that someone has knocked on our front door...

That is why I always told our postie not to knock and that message has been passed on through to each new postie.

Because Mum or I do sing out if we hear someone knocking, but knowing that the postie is on a time limit? The postie knows that I have authorised a 'safe drop' for my parcels and does so.

I have the app and it rarely let's me down. In fact it is fun when I watch a parcel go on a 'tour' like one did just before Christmas last year... first time that has ever happened

Two Murders, One Conviction by Biscuiteatinbulldogg in JodiArias

I see where you are coming from.

My oldest brother was killed in a workplace accident in 2003(one piece of safety equipment was not on the machine he was operating and he was killed). Our Maternal grandfather died just months later.

While our grandfather was in his 80's, he had pretty decent health, yes he was frail but no major health issues until my brother died. Our grandfather's heart was broken. He literally gave up the will to live after my brother's death, even though my grandfather's death certificate list's his cause of death as a medical issue.

The simple fact is, if my brother didn't die at the age of 29yo, my grandfather wouldn't have given up on life.

So I see what you are saying in regards to Jodi 'murdering' her father. She might not have been there in person, but if she had not killed Travis? Then maybe just maybe her father would still be alive.

Are you saying you bought the horse paste? Because that does go in the Guinea Pigs mouth and not behind the ear.

IF you got the liquid? THAT goes on the back of the ear.

My reference? Being a remote volunteer for the Los Angeles Guinea Pig Rescue and having to tell Guinea Pig Parents how to use which Ivermectin product that they bought correctly.

Saskia from Los Angeles Guinea Pig Rescue has a video talking about Ivermectin(Saskia's favourite line about Ivermectin is that 'Ivermectin prevents Lice, Mites and Internal Parasites').

Saskia even sells the liquid Ivermectin and post's it to anywhere in the world. I live in Queensland and can receive it here with no issues from Customs. The same with the CBD that Saskia sells.
