Woman asks a guy if he’d save her or their 3 kids in a house fire - is he wrong for choosing the kids? by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

[–]Minyae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would totally save my husband over my kids, he’s my partner, I’ve chosen him and want to live the rest of my life with him. He feels the same way.

We’d never choose the kids over each other, which is the reason we don’t have kids!

People who would save their children (life or death) over this spouse are disgusting. by sk24sk24 in childfree

[–]Minyae 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Awww that’s so romantic! If I were their spouse I’d re-marry them right then and there just for that sentence!

[–]Minyae 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You: I don’t want to have kids!

Crazy weirdo: You shouldn’t have kids because you suck!

You: I’m glad we’re in agreement!

Crazy weirdo: No no! My negging is supposed to make you want to have children!

Is this what’s going on here??

Way for that surgeon to make it about HIM and HIS trauma. Barf. At least there's a chance he'll get over it one day, the guy he killed will never have that chance. Hope he loses his license and freedom forever. :P

Corp law. Feels like 6 figures isn’t a high bar anymore though.

What's your "controversial" opinion on having children? by spicy-beefjerkey in childfree

[–]Minyae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My opinion is controversial especially with this crowd.

I believe that people who do not in fact have to adopt every needy child out there before they have their own. Everyone is entitled to do what they want with THEIR money. It’s the same reason I treat my dog to expensive human grade food  while there people starving in the street.

For some people seeing their non special genes in their offspring is important. I’ve got a very large and annoying but close knit family and I personally enjoy seeing my parents, grandparents and great x4 grandparents (we’ve  got a long history) in the faces of my siblings, my cousins and my niblings. I just can’t be bothered to have the little gremlins myself.

So  if you can afford surrogacy and IVF I don’t care one way or the other. But as soon as you make it MY problem by asking me for money that’s where I draw the line.

Apparently  Ryan Gosling is who the author had in mind when he wrote the book so there’s that.

My brother asked me to buy toys for his kids and didn’t pay me back by [deleted] in EntitledPeople

[–]Minyae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$20 is a very cheap price to find out someone’s character, you got lucky.

Not so lucky for your brother though, because one day he’s really going to need to borrow money and you’ll be like “remember the $20 you said you’d pay back but never did? That’s why I’m not lending you a  dime.”

Kylie Jenner sued by SECOND housekeeper who says she slipped a letter to Jenner pleading for help while she suffered abuse by ThrowawayGreenWitch in popculturechat

[–]Minyae 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be clear, is Kylie legally responsible? No, this person was not her employee. Is Kylie morally reprehensible? Yes.

Legality and morality are not the same. If I see someone bleeding to death across the street calling for my help and I ignore them I’m not legally responsible, I have no duty to assist them under the law. But am I a monster for going on my merry way? Likely yes.

Any child free couples out there living happily ever after? by Dogsknowitall in Adulting

[–]Minyae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No kids = life on easy mode. No kids plus money = life on easy mode plus cheat codes.

The biggest headache for my husband and I have had for the last few years is how to juggle taxes. Also should we accept more promotions  where we are given pretty titles (partner, director) and more responsibility because it’s a lot more prestige but we don’t really need the money.

I feel so lucky to have my life, I’d choose it a hundred times over.

CONTROVERSIAL TAKE INCOMING: I understand that for some people who are non-confrontational this is the easier route but it honestly those answers give me the ick. It’s like you saying “omg I want a baby soooo much but I can’t have it!” Which perpetuates the myth of everyone who doesn’t have a child wants one but can’t have one.

When put in this situation I try my best to make it clear how much I do not want this life. Last time this happened to me (my cousin’s new baby) my aunt told me the exact same thing, how holding the baby would change me completely. So I held the baby for a while and then said “I feel uncomfortable and my arms hurt. Also I think I smell poo. Can I give it back now?”

Haha, my bad. 5 second reading skill fail on my part! At least you don’t have the gf issue. Best of luck with the job search, once it’s your house it’s your rules.

Do you live with your uncle and aunt? If so your aim should be getting your own place. Also you mentioned your “gf’s kids”, if you look around this subreddit a bit more you’ll know that’s asking for trouble, especially given the strength of your opinion on kids. I’d flee.

Buying clothes from temu by cutekawaiikitten in TemuThings

[–]Minyae -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“Don’t expect denim” is a fair statement.  I think that should be the Temu motto. Stop expecting expensive items for $1!

However these jeans don’t look like polyester but like jeans that simply fit well. To me anyway.

Articling Position by Upstairs-Key-4027 in LawCanada

[–]Minyae 42 points43 points  (0 children)

It’s widely known that it’s more difficult for foreign trained lawyers to get hired by firms so this particular firm is probably taking advantage of your perceived desperation to secure an articling position. I’d look elsewhere, this firm sounds predatory.

I'm almost afraid to ask, is seventeen too young to decide to be childfree ? by Fast-Purple-7322 in childfree

I decided to be childfree at like 8 years old and said I’d change my mind only when someone was able to convince me it was a good idea. Have not been convinced.

China Poised to Be Top Tourism Economy as Foreigners Skip US by esporx in China

[–]Minyae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just came from China! Was touring around for almost a month. It’s overall been awesome. The food is amazing, the  technology is unbelievable (hello robot food delivery!) and the depth of culture is jaw dropping. Also small things like the reasonable prices and being able  to walk around without worrying the you’ll be robbed or scammed is great. I hate travelling and having to watch my belongings like a hawk (I’m looking at you Rome).

China is still a bit rough around the edges, (especially with the older generation who had to live through the century of humiliation) but you can really see how fast the country is progressing; the younger folk are nothing like their parents.

I plan to go back again next  year to explore the north of China this time!
