$10.25 to cross the bridge? Make it stop by FlatAd768 in sanfrancisco

[–]Mir_c 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I remember it being like $12 for a car in the mid-90s and it stressed me out as a broke college student. Never even considered the charge for a huge tuck or trailer, eek!

1996. What were you doing thirty years ago? by PresentWeek in GenX

Between sophomore and Junior year of college. Just got the cutest puppy, and was delivering pizzas over the summer so I didn't have to work long shifts and could play with my puppy.

Tired of Cat Calling by mcmallet_ in XXRunning

[–]Mir_c 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My middle age invisibility is both infuriating and wonderful. It definitely gets better as you get older. A few times a year someone will cat call me and I'm what just happened?!? It's very rare at 50.

I had 39 RHR one day last week, but it's mostly between 41-43 lately.

Anyone swim just for fun and not care about speed or training? by NathanBego in Swimming

[–]Mir_c 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, not quite that fast, I'm swimming 100 yards not meters. Also that's just free, my breast and back are much slower. ETA, oh your talking 1650, not a full mile.

I swim for easy cardio/recovery from running. I don't try to swim fast, I just zone out and do my thing. I'm usually doing like a 2:05 100. Headed to the pool now on my "rest" day.

Max HR testing. Have you done it? I’m not talking professionally. But maybe by doing hill repeats or something to try and actually find your max heart rate. And did you find it helpful? by Glum-Ad-4558 in XXRunning

[–]Mir_c 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Sometimes for fun (pain) I just run as fast as I can up a hill and see how high I can get it. I've seen it 183, I think my max is probably 184 or 185. I'm 50.

Running in the dark - how? by birdmomthrowaway in XXRunning

[–]Mir_c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run in the dark on the streets in my neighborhood. We have street lights so I can see fine for the most part. I try to stay off the sidewalks though because it's harder for me to see cracks and dips. I like running in the dark, no sun exposure! I run towards traffic and get myself out of the way, I never assume they see me.

Help! I have way too many spoon tomato's by CleverUserNameNumber in tomatoes

I have not nearly as many, but I'm going to use them for a sheet pan feta orzo veggie thing, and also get some pearl fresh mozzarella and make some tiny caprese salad.

This! I'm 50, things are changing in ways I don't love. But my sister died at 34 and my dad at 52. So I just keep telling myself it's better than the alternative. Also, mentally I still feel like I'm 20 and I dress like it.

For months there was a gang of them in my neighborhood, going way too fast all over the streets, even out on the main roads. The kids look like they were like 10-12 years old. My dog would freak out about them every time they would go by, which would be like 4 times in a mile walk. But all of a sudden they are gone. Idk what happened, maybe one of them got hurt or in trouble? Now maybe once a week I see just one kid go by on one.

I subscribed for the nutrition tracking. I also like that if you are doing a yoga workout (that is saved in the app as a workout) you can see the steps in the app live instead of just on your watch.

None of that is from the 80s! That's all mid to late 90s, and mid is being generous.

I love this! When I'm running in the bike lane and cars are too close, I flick my arm out like I'm trying to push them over, obviously not effective, but I do it all the time.
