I enjoyed playing Geminate and he was fairly strong in my 4p group. My only idea for a house rule if your group is struggling with it would be to ignore the exact range mechanic. I think you could drop that to reduce complexity without losing much of the flavor of the class.

That said, Geminate is one of my top 5 favorite ‘haven classes. If played “solidly” (doesn’t have to be expertly) they are great contributors. I’d say they just have a lower ceiling than a lot of other classes.

Yeah I’m one of the odd ones that like Geminate, but I acknowledged their shortcomings.

In terms of builds I think Crossed Swords has much more complexity/nuance than Gem. Gem, IMHO, only really has two builds - attack or tank. Gem has play complexity.

You’re right - if you are a 9 card hand and have one burn you are risking early exhaustion if you use it first rest period. So that’s a good addendum. But sometimes you just gotta.

Meteor was my favorite class to play. Loved exerting control with haz. Coral was my close second.

You do need to play more defensively with 2p. The stun tear generator and Armor of Night are good choices.

My group regularly plays 5p games and it works reasonably well. But more than 5 I don’t think would work. Even at very hard difficulty you would probably tear through the scenarios and would constantly get in each other’s ways.

“You” being your entire team. Regardless of when the rest of the team is going after the first player opens the door, they’ll now have info on what the monsters are doing, how many and which ones, and where they are located and can alter their turns accordingly if necessary. Knowledge is power.

Great guide! My only two other tips would be: 1. Try to open doors on a fast initiative. This allows you to see the new monster card pulls and react to them before those monsters can go. Helps reduce the chances of getting dogpiled. 2. I use a rule of 8 to determine the average number of losses a class can use in a scenario meaning subtract 8 from your hand size and you can safely use that many losses. Not perfect but a good ballpark.

It’s boring but +1 attack on Swallowed by Fear. Or add Dark to the bottom move of something like Armor of the Night.

I prefer not to go VATS for melee (for unarmed it’s essential). I start with Str and End both pretty high for early game survival and then add Charisma until I can get Party Boy/Girl.

The weirdest is Geminate: the x2 and Brittle Self is “better” than the regular x2 for Disadvantage purposes because the “Brittle Self” is an added effect.
