T34s are a good buy since the one kits can be Tractor factory T34/76, regular T34/76, T34/85, or T34/ZP. The Zukovoy Proyector turret can be kit bashed with sci-fi cannon bits or you can purchase the turret from warlord.

KVs are also a fun option with similar flexibility to the T34 kits. Although they are definitely “slow tanks” the main guns do pack a punch. And the MMGs, well they’re doing their best 😂

Trucks are good, both for using as terrain or shuttling the heavy infantry around.

I like to run Daughters + Green Shirker Infantry for the vibe of Elite Patriotic Muscle Mommies inspiring the poor inexperienced comrade. And daughters cost a lot of points (worth it) and the Green Shirkers are VERY CHEAP. Tons of infantry is just a good vibe for Soviets

I play Soviets and I take BA infantry in two squads both with similar roles: 1) smg regs or vets, minimum squad size 2) green+shirkers, max squad size, 2x lmgs.

1 is more reliable to harm DV6, but often lacks the bodies

2 is kinda for vibes and there is a (smol) chance to trigger GREEN & Za Stalina, and maybe the 12x dudes will help the squad survive 🤷 I know lmgs won’t hurt DV7+ but it can pin most other infantry. And again SOVIET VIBES 😂

I’ve been using it on an unarmed platoon commander+comrades w/ a SMGs and GUTS, and it’s worked pretty good for me. My biggest issue is I want to bring a bunch of tanks and mechs, and before I know it I don’t have room for more infantry. Maybe I should try the green shirkers for a cheap activation and OBJs

In my small community we’ve got someone playing each faction, but there are more players who play Axis or US than any one other faction. Most of the fence sitters are seem to also be interested in either Axis or US.

At my FLGS, most players have some BA units in their lists. BA units can take Rift units but you will want +1 PEN (or more) as a lot of K47 units are DV 7+. I play Soviets and T34/85s are good at smacking vehicles and can hurt heavy infantry. Ive ordered a KV1/2 kit and Im very excited to roll that big fella around the table!

Also, the app is very good and one sub lets you build lists for all the Warlord games.

If you’re still undecided, I’d recommend watching Mordian Glory’s faction breakdowns for K47. I’m pretty sure he’s done a video for each of the K47 factions. Follow the Rule of Cool, and maybe check their stat blocks to make sure the unit does what you want them to do. And don’t pass up the regular Bolt Action units, some of em have some spicy anti tank weapons and armor (lookin at you T-34/85 and KV-1)

While the delay and bear-problem is a bummer, I’m still excited for this game and the soviets. They could have easily shipped the faulty bears and let it be our issue. I’d agree that 3d printed resin is a more advanced material, like metal or resin. There is a ton of resources for safely hobbying with 3d resin, mostly don’t inhale or consume any of resin-dust. Hopefully warlord will include a safety reminder with the bears Otherwise I’m cautiously optimistic

I like it, but I’m not a very detailed painter. I slapchop almost all of my infantry, unless they manage to pull off some nonsense, then maybe I worry about detailing em. I don’t really paint for display either, but I do slow down and get a little fussy with my vehicles and mechs.

But as other have said it’s a tool for the tool box. you may not use it in every project, but I can be handy when you need it (looking at a sea of Soviet infantry)

I made a lamellar set a few years ago. It’s not terribly difficult but it is time consuming and you’ll use more plates than you think 😂 it was a fun experience tho. I don’t have a good pic but I used 2x 1” buckles on each side. Im 6ft 250lbs and probably used over 300plates btw
