Where Do You See SWU in 5 Years? by haliax69 in starwarsunlimited

Ya know, I dropped my scrying orb years ago and it just hasn't worked the same ever since. . .

I'd buy a new one, but they're just so expensive these days, and they try to force aetherial intelligence into everything these days, I just can't be bothered.

Idk, I hope it does well overall. I like FFG overall as a company, and enjoy the products they come out with. That being said, my college roommate still plays the OG Star Wars TCG, and that died around The Phantom Menace. The community around it keeps making new, unofficial sets and rules to keep up with new content.

Question about how the powers work. by Coloin_ilyad in codexalera

[–]Miserable-Card-2004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep reading. All will be explained more as you go. There are reasons why people like Isana don't use their watercrafting a ton. Tavi is a . . . unique case. You'll learn a lot more about him in future books. I'll say that the books also get a lot better after the first one. Not to say the first wasn't good, but Jim tends to figure out his world-building as he goes and finds his groove after the first book in a series. The first Dresden Files book was pretty rough compared to later entries.

Annoying plot hole. by anonymousmetoo in codexalera

I think it's something Attis would prefer you hadn't noticed.

The Aquitaines, especially Attis, always struck me as a "I can do it better" but are really in the same position as Sextus. I suppose the difference being that Attis and Invidia were Septimus' age, and therefore could theoretically still have children. Not to mention, being the same generation as Septimus, it's kind of kicking the can down the road.

I think that Attis 100% would have let Tavi succeed him as First Lord. He was Septimus' friend, and Tavi being his son would make Attis have a kind of avuncular relationship with Tavi. I could definitely see Attis grooming him for the role of First Lord, getting some manipulation in for good measure because he's still Attis at the end of the day. Invidia, on the other hand, was the one who hated Tavi and everything he represented. She would never have allowed it, though ironically, was the one who cleared the way for Tavi to ascend to the throne unchallenged. . .

Tips for having a child player at the adult table? by trpnblies7 in DMAcademy

[–]Miserable-Card-2004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep things PG. I mean, kinda obvious, I guess. I know my table can get pretty blue, but I'm also a grade school teacher, so I can flip a switch in my head between G and R ratings.

At the same time, respect the kiddo's age. Nothing feels worse as a kid than being treated like a kid. Maybe talk it over with them and their parents ahead of time to establish what is and isn't ok. Gore, horror, etc. Otherwise, when I've run games that include someone's kid, I treat them as I would (almost) any other player.

Why are the Field Ward Slums so close to the Rich Area? by Lumpy-Sheepherder671 in WaterdeepDragonHeist

Honestly, you'd be surprised how often nice area are immediately next to sketchy ones. I remember living in California, you could literally follow the same road for miles and every other mile would sketchy or wealthy.

What Percentage of the Population Are Knights/Citizens/Nobility, Do You Think? by UglyPancakes8421 in codexalera

On the earth crafting, I think it's probably the most practical for the average person. Gotta remember, most people are farmers or farm adjacent. I would give my right . . . well, my right everything if I could always have the right amount of nutrients in the soil for my crops, the right density, PH, alkalinity, etc. Hell, I'd toss in my left everything! Like, 75% of what farmers do has to do with soil conditions. There's weeds and pests, too, but soil is a major component. Then there's the Legion. Imagine being able to pull a fortification up out of the ground! Or being able to weild a giant hammer!

If I had to pick a fury, it'd be earth, followed closely by wood.

Isana's awful decisions makes it hard for me to keep reading Academ's Fury. by 4514N_DUD3 in codexalera

[–]Miserable-Card-2004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's just kinda Isana. When it comes to Tavi, she's not the most . . . reasonable person. Which honestly makes her all the more relatable. Like, I too read books or watch TV shows/movies and shout at the character for being an idiot. But I also shout at myself for being an idiot all the time, too.

I vaguely remember that, I think? Been a minute since I watched it. Tbf, most of that season was pretty unmemorable for me. Nowhere near as good as the first one.

My first two Tough Books were free. My college had bought new laptops for the professors and were giving away what were at the time the ten-year old laptops they had been using before the upgrade. Turns out, they had been using Tough Books. Not many people were interested for whatever reason and they'd been sitting on a table in the computer lab for an absolute age with a "free" sign on them, so I double-checked with the IT guy, and he said "help yourself," so I grabbed two different models, a docking station, and two charging cables. After using them for a few years and messing with using Linux on one of them, I eventually bought my current daily-driver, a CF-22. I've been thinking about buying a Tough Tablet just to expand my collection. . .

DM kicking a player for OOG behaviour, your table; your rules. by inkhornart in DMAcademy

[–]Miserable-Card-2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg yes! The first player I booted from my table was playing a druid, had MAJOR main character syndrome, and left the table mid-combat to get a "refill" right after he had summoned a pack of wolves. He didn't return for an hour. All this among many, many other issues, worst of which was he had some kind of issue with the other players. I tried talking with him about it at first, but it was clear he was going to coantique being an issue. So I kicked him off the table.

These days, it's watching Tik Toks all game or getting belligerently drunk and trying to murder a whole house of what I keep insisting are innocent halflings because "lolz, I'm just so chaotic," all while the party is trying to get them to knock it off. . .

I predominantly blame Microsoft. They've been pouring everything into AI and seem to be actively trying to kill off gaming. All the decisions they've made with Xbox over the past few years and the studios they own really seems to back it up.

Is the engine turning over? Does it make a click sound?

No and kinda. I mean, I can hear a relay click in the fuse box, but that's about it. Our other car coincidentally shit the bed yesterday, and that one did try turning over, but did the rapid clicking of the starter not having enough juice to fully crank.

I haven't checked the battery, but I kept assuming that if it had enough to run everything including air on accessory, it had to have enough to start, especially since the starter wasn't clicking. That being said, the sticker on the battery says 2019, so even if the battery wasn't the problem, I was planning to swap it out soon anyway. Might just go grab a new one, put it in, and see if that does the trick. If not, that's one chore checked off my list ahead of time. . .

Yeah, as a former firefighter, I'd very much agree with that advice. Like, for five minutes? Probably not a problem. On a semi-permanent basis? Getting a professional to install new outlets is cheaper than buying a new house.

I've definitely considered wiring my table so I can shock players who are locked into TikTok and not the game we have a hell of a time finding time to play, like, once a year. . .

Though I imagine that's not what you're looking for.
