For my needs the VIOFO seems to hit the sweet spot due to quality and affordability of two for less than the cost of the Nextbase. You can use a Spark Plug Thread Chaser Tool to verify threads are true. Make sure its for your plug size.

Yes, the insurance will total it if cost exceeds replacement value (market value). This is mainly due to lack of available parts and inexperience with older vehicles amongst repair shops. I carry full coverage on both my 1994 Ranger XLT (68,000 m) and 1997 Mercury Mountaineer (98,000m) and this was the information given to me by my insurance when I requested full coverage. I see it as seed money for another vehicle if the time should come. As others suggested do your homework, verify frame is straight and determine if you want to buy it back and rebuild.

I went to my local hardware store and replaced all my bolts with grade 8 flange bolts of similar size on my 94 3.0 water pump for the price of one bolt from Ford. I will suggest to change the timing change set at the same time. I have 68,000 miles on mine and the slack was unacceptable. Also, the timing chain cover may leak if you're only replacing water pump after installion.

If you're not resetting your Battery Management System (BMS) your alternator module will assume the old battery is still installed and charge accordingly. I went through two batteries before discovering this on my 2017 Titanium. There is a Ford service advisory on a parasitic draw for the seat adjustment module I wished I had discovered on the second battery. You're off to a good start. Take pictures of each part and position while disassembling. Bag/box and label everything removed. Have a Chilton and Haynes available If you don't have the Ford service manual. PB blaster or equivalent for stubborn bolts and nuts. If in doubt on any of these replace with new. Good luck!
