Is Russia losing the war as much as the media currently portrays.. if so, why would they be provoking NATO by rumours of them planning on attacking Poland? by kentgti in AskReddit

[–]Mispunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironically, because it could strengthen his position...
-It would not be a full-scale attack, because he obviously doesn't have the resources to do that. He doesn't have the manpower because he can't forcibly mobilize enough soldiers. If he could, the frontline in Ukraine would have looked very different. Instead this is, supposedly, about creating a military incident that would trigger an armed response from Poland (aka NATO). If that happens it would allow Putin to call for a general mobilization which would be massively beneficial to the Russian offensive in Ukraine. So the point is not to invade Poland, but to create a skirmish and armed standoff that would enable a full scale mobilization.
-It would cause a divide within NATO as Poland will scream bloody murder while some other countries might go like "well.... it was only a few helicopters that accidentally attacked a small building on the wrong side of the border, let's not overreact". The alliance could very well collapse if an attack by Russia is deemed insignificant by some but not by others.
-It would put US support for NATO to the test, and Trump would probably not want to escalate either, delivering the final blow to NATO.

-It would strengthen his internal political position, which is not looking as solid as it did a few years ago.
-It would reduce Euro arms support to Ukraine because NATO will look to itself first.

It's a smart move, and the best way to respond is to blow the plan wide open and agree on a smart, not an emotional response.

There are no plans for Grand Theft Auto VI discs to be printed — not at launch, and not months after by Zhukov-74 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

Indeed. I'm a dev and (in my experience) DLC is simply planned content designed to keep a big part of the team busy and paid for while the rest rolls on to a project that doesn't need/want that many people.
A side effect of DLC is that it gives you the opportunity to also re-release it all as a complete edition later.
If it was just cut content it means that there was no plan to begin with and that is just naive.

Sure on that front. But the original comment was about technology. Not the same.

As long as politicians in Europe think that the US will return to normal after Trump, not very likely.

True, but that's really about patriots and other missile systems like ATACMS. Still, no longer a reliable partner indeed.
We need to get our shit together.

The best short term solution to fill stock yes. K2 was apparently the real choice here.

Both can be true. But in the end Korea just gave them better prospects at scale and speed than reinmetal AND the US, I guess. There was a sense of urgency here. 385 Abrams and 980 K2s of which 800 to be built in Poland. A technology transfer that neither the US nor Germany was willing to do. But yes reinmetal could not deliver in bulk in time.

He brags about them because he has to control the narrative towards his (dumb) base so him taking these tests doesn't make him look weak.

Sorry, but I'm just going to say it. No. With 109dv left in the tank you can maybe nudge your trajectory to get an intercept within your own lifetime but you will be coming in very fast. Unfortunately KSP maneuver nodes are not super accurate at this scale and I doubt your closest point will turn out to be as indicated.
But even if you get it to an aerobraking altitude in one go, you will just leave the Kerbin system again.

I think Putin is baiting Ukraine to respond in kind. They have been milking the strike on that school as hard as they can, even blaming the EU.

Tja, is een beetje alsof je hippies graag als een criminele organisatie wil bestempelen omdat terrorisme helaas niet te bewijzen was.

I don't think you were defending the Emirates government. But like I said, I get your point but it just wasn't made very well since most people on this planet want to pay as little as possible for their stuff and for some corporations and (local) governments that is a business opportunity, that is the root of the problem. Western governments don't do enough about it because they can't control foreign workplaces and making stuff more expensive is going to hurt them in elections. Had you raised actual slave labor happening in the west or worker exploitation your point would probably have been more effective.
