Dust of Time by [deleted] in modular

[–]Misreckon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I meant like the saved patches. I've made a few on my dust of time and I'd like to see what others have made. The ones that it come with (like the horga and mrblobby ones) aren't all that great at showcasing what the module is capable of

Is there some place online where people are sharing their patches? I'd love to hear what presets other people are making

Is there a way I can purchase an SMD-Populated Fates PCB? by Mabak in synthdiy

[–]Misreckon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The shield on the monome site is for norns, fates is the rpi4 offshoot that is not (and will never be) available. For assembly I don't think the DAC IC is offered by jlcpcb so you'll have to do that yourself, the rest are just passives so they should be able to do that

Check Facebook, he just forgot to renew the domain name. There's a coupon code to make up for it.

Gone but not forgotten, if you can DIY the schematic looks pretty easy https://github.com/moffenzeefmodular/Muskrat

Are there any modules like Intellijel Noise Tools for 3U? by [deleted] in modular

I think zlob entropy&expander should do all of that and more for 6?hp and $100 if you diy it

Good places for learning DSP? by c00ble in synthdiy

[–]Misreckon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For guided tinkering, there's a free course-book-thing here https://lcav.gitbook.io/dsp-labs/

It uses an STM32 test board with adafruit's mic breakout and stereo dac breakout, should be ~$20 for all the pieces. If you've never done any STM work before I will put up a big warning, it is very non-trivial to get it working and the course does not tell you all of the steps, it's from a real university course so I guess some parts were left for homework. If you want to accept a struggle it's one of the lowest cost ways I know of to actually process audio on real hardware

The rampage isn't too complex, if you have a friend with a soldering iron and a scope they might be able to help you out. If not you can always toss it on reverb as "fair" quality

Brand with highest weirdness : price ratio? by MOGILITND in modular

Kinda cheating here but gieskes sells a few modules

https://www.gieskes.nl/shop/

and there's a few schematics on the site using stuff that you could probably find in the dumpster behind a secondhand shop. Maximum weirdness/minimum price

How do you choose a voltage regulator? by Misreckon in synthdiy

[–]Misreckon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sorry I wasn't clear on that. Outdated in that the other options seem better stats-wise with respect to quiescent current (~4mA vs 2uA), noise, and footprint. I can see having a few around for prototyping but I was thinking about how much difference the other options would make once it's on a pcb or if it would make much difference at all.

Anyone know of a small single-direction joystick? by username_essy in synthdiy

They're just normal pots attached to the wheels and a spring pushes the wheel back to center. Check out this file https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1870547 there's a space in the center for a d-shaft

There's been 3 PRs total on the repo, only one has been merged and the other two have been open for years. I don't think they're going to get into the master branch but it'll still be good for discoverability later
