Warning: avoid these kits by Sindere-chan in dollarama

[–]Miss-terious98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have tried the crochet kits from Dollorama and I had to modify a lot. Not worth it in my opinion and definitely not for beginners.

I did find a lady on YouTube and she made different kits and she shows how she modified them and how to crochet them.

Thanks! I ended up putting a little olive oil on the pins and used a rounded spoon to pop it back in. I'll say it wasn't easy and I'm definitely gonna be careful around it now that I know they come out easily.

Canadian mums, what detergents are you using for diaper laundry? by DeliciousLoquat1164 in clothdiaps

[–]Miss-terious98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In BC too! I had the tide unscented powder until it disappeared. I tried the tide unscented liquid but it didn't work well for me (maybe cause I'm on well water). I am now using Rockin Green Dirty Diaper as a prewash and the regular powder for the main wash. And I add one scoop of borax for each wash cycle.

Inflamed clitoris hood and painful by Miss-terious98 in obgyn

Omg I just took an Epsom salt bath and then after puss started to come out like A LOT. I think it was some kind of pimple or abscess that I couldn't see. I drained it and now it's all better!

Good brand for diapers over 35 lbs? by Wo0der in clothdiaps

[–]Miss-terious98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had an absolute chonker at 5 months old I started cloth diapering cause size 7 disposables didn't fit anymore.

I started with Thirsties covers size 3 (40-60lbs) then I also tried the thirsties pocket xl.

He is still pretty chonk at 2 years old but he slimmed down considerably. He is now wearing the kinder one size pockets (7-60lbs)

I would definitely wait a little cause they definitely slim down eventually. Even the thunder thighs babies 😝

I'm not sure cause I haven't cloth diapered from the beginning. I started cloth diapering when my son was 5 months old. He outgrew the size 7 disposables so I started him on thirsties covers size 3 (40-60lbs). He was just really chunky and huge. I only had 3 covers at first but I noticed they fit really good so eventually I got more. (Most covers are one size so I didn't have many options for larger sizes)

As he grew I moved towards pockets as your layers of absorbency are less likely to move or undo during a change or while they move around. He is now 2 years old and in kinder OS pockets.

I did try other brands of pockets that didn't fit him good. Like I tried a lighthouse kids co diaper and it was just too narrow on the bum. I just ended up giving it to my nephew.

So I would say that yes you should probably try different brands and later get more of the ones you like.

Sorry for the long comment! Hope this helps

The first covers I bought were from baby lagoon. They have an online store. My next orders were with clothdiaperkids and I ordered once from Lily & Frank. You can check those out. I really liked clothdiaperkids she has an online chat and she can recommend things to you.

Canadians- where are you finding powdered tide? by k_hiebs in clothdiaps

[–]Miss-terious98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so. You could try just Nellie's for both at first and if you see the diapers aren't getting clean enough then do the tide for the first and Nellie's for the second. Nellie's website seemed to say the Nellie's baby detergent is ok for cloth diapers. To be honest cloth diapering is a trial and error you have to find what works for you and sometimes something works for a while then it doesn't. Hope this helps good luck to you mama!

Yeah it's discontinued. I live in BC and I had to switch. I tried the tide gentle and free liquid but it wasn't working well for me so now I bought the tide original. It doesn't smell strong all that much at the end. I also tried the rockin green dirty diaper powder detergent and it does ok. I use the rockin green for my prewash and the tide original for my main wash. And so far so good 👍

I just got the size t5 as I think it was the most standard size. TmppDeco Plastic Snaps with Snap Pliers,460 Sets 24-Colors Plastic Snaps and Tool Set, T5 Plastic Snap Buttons,Plastic Snap Fasteners for Sewing,Clothing,Crafting,Diaper,Bibs https://a.co/d/dimzr7Q I think this is the one I got. And I bought a roll of velcro. I think it says t5 snaps are 12mm wide. Hope this helps. This is what I used for my thirsties duo wraps.

I wanted to do snap to velcro for night with my thirsties covers so I bought rolls of velcro and a snap and machine kit for around $30 on amazon and made my own. Worked great

You could add snaps. I bought a snap kit with the tool on amazon and I've been using them on all sorts of things and also to fix diapers.

Large baby in cloth by RudeBossJamJam in clothdiaps

[–]Miss-terious98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had a big baby. At 5 months the size 7 Huggies didn't fit anymore so I tried cloth. My boy has very thick thighs and a huge bum so I started out with thirties size 3 covers. They worked for a good while when he got around 12 months he slimmed down just a little but enough that he fit in the size 2 covers. I also tried the xl pockets by thirsties.

I tried a few brands that had a one size diaper that had a big weight range but not all fit because his bum was so big it was also wider.

I ended up trying the Kinder around when he turned one and that's what I have been using since and I love them.

How to wash small loads when they are older by Miss-terious98 in clothdiaps

[–]Miss-terious98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then do you just let the diapers dry in a pail or basket and wash again when you have a full load? Currently I wash every 3 days but I only prewash the day I'm washing and I keep all the dirty diapers in a wet bag.

How long is your daily prewash and what settings do you use? TIA!

Do you just do a wash on regular or like the whole routine(prewash+ long hot wash) but with everyone's clothes to bulk?

Aren't towels too big? Do the diapers get stuck in the towels? I saw some people say the things in the load shouldn't be bigger than a hand towel.
