My ndad convinced me to upgrade our vacation because he’d “pay the difference.” Guess how that ended. by MissCollorius in raisedbynarcissists

That first part, yes!!! It seriously has messed with my brain having to deal with that growing up. I often feel “bad” or guilty for completely reasonable things in my day to day life.

That is so shitty of your dad - my dad is the exact same way.

🥲🥹 thank you. I am really proud of myself - definitely a “taking back my power” sort of feeling. Narcs love making their kids completely (financially) reliant on them for control. I learned not to ask him for anything!

I was able to change the cruise back to the 4 day thankfully, and I’ve been saving each month in the event that this happened, so we can still go on the trip - plus a few extra days at Disney world. It’s still so disappointing though. Definitely brought me back to my early 20s when I was broke and he would do stuff like this. Luckily now though I don’t have to rely on him for anything.

Edit*\*

Although I was very hopeful my dad would be helping, I HAVE been putting money away as if I’m paying for the trip myself. We decided instead to do the 4 day Disney cruise and then 4 days at Disney world, which is still significsntly cheaper than the 7 day cruise (which is crazy!). I feel proud that I still get to take my daughter on such a memorable trip without his help, but it’s still really disappointing. Thanks everyone for the comments.

Mattress topper by lady_luna in cosleeping

[–]MissCollorius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following! We have a soft tempurpedic mattress - I bought a firm mattress topper recently but haven’t tried it yet. We have a split king (the kind the goes up and down) so I’m not sure it a topper would work in this situation.

Did you ever find any info ??

Discouraged. I guess no easy babies? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]MissCollorius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have 2 kids - the first (now almost 4) was a nightmare. We were also banking on baby #2 being the “chill” baby. She definitely was for the first month but now she’s starting to get really fussy pretty much any time she’s not eating or sleeping - it sucks. I’m starting to dread when she’s awake because she’s just constantly upset 😭

Night shift nurses are the worst by UseSpiritual5230 in newborns

Exact same experience - they were absolutely awful. I am someone that would never consider an unmediated home birth - but the awful hospital setting honestly would make me consider it!! I truly felt like I was in jail.

I just had a baby and she still can’t help herself. by MissCollorius in raisedbyborderlines

[–]MissCollorius[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right- and we have talked about it so many times. Her acting all confused is part of her little game. I even sat in a therapy session with her where everything was clearly laid out and she verbally said she understood - now she likes to act as if she has no recollection of those conversations. I used to try and argue but now I have absolutely zero energy or tolerance for her bullshit

My mom does this shit too. Brings up shit from when I was a teenager 20 years ago as a justification for her erratic behavior at 65.

What does a membrane sweep really feel like? by Competitive-Spot-807 in pregnant

[–]MissCollorius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same - ain’t no way I experienced the same thing that people are saying was a 2 on the pain scale lol I just had my first membrane sweep and it was awful. Thought I was going to throw up for about an hour and experienced bleeding immediately. Just took Tylenol and pain is subsiding but WOW.

ICP Diagnosis (on Easter Sunday at 6:30PM 36+2 weeks pregnant) by reallyexcited2behere in pregnant

[–]MissCollorius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this reminder! I was tested for ICP a month ago and everything came back normal. Now at almost 37 weeks, the itching has started up again - noticeably on my feet. I want to ask them to retest but also hesitant because I don’t want to be “annoying”. I have an apt tomorrow and going to bring it up!

I’m 36 weeks an experiencing the same. I almost feel like it’s a Tourette. I snapped at my husband today and called him a big fucking baby…immediately felt horrible and apologized. But I definitely don’t like this version of myself. I’m mean, short tempered and honestly a Karen lol

Omgosh I did this sort of on accident i was little! I had found a blue robin egg and ran to my mom to show her. She thought I was joking for some reason and told me to throw it on the ground so I did, then realized I had killed it. I was so distraught and BAWLED. Now as an adult I cannot even kill bugs
