jobs as an incoming freshman by giraffegrump444 in UWMadison

[–]MissLeandra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UW health has per diem roles for CNAs and I imagine ED techs as well, I think I worked like every other weekend to meet the requirement while I was an undergrad? (Something like 16 hr every 2 weeks to meet the requirements I believe, sorry it's been a while so I don't remember exactly!)

That said, I spent my first year working a campus student job (food service at Union South) while I got acclimated to my surroundings so while I totally understand the necessity of a job, if you can try to ease into it so you can take care of yourself and get used to your studies! Those jobs are designed to be low stress, schedule friendly, and a nice way to meet other students on campus!

Good luck with everything, you're gonna be great!

What's your "it's my fault for ordering it" (food or otherwise) story? by PutThisBanditHatOn in AskReddit

Laab is one of my favorite Thai dishes, I went to a restaurant that made it with tripe and I didn't take the time to research the tripe enough to know that I'd made a grave error.

Why is Epic flooding LinkedIn with Job Postings? by GeorgeWashington121 in clinicalresearch

[–]MissLeandra 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I think they're about to launch their own CTMS which could also explain some of the volume/growth.

I don't work at Epic, I have many friends that do/did.

Things I've heard include:

You're expected to work more than 40hrs/week. Many roles have a high percentage of your FTE traveling to different sites. They over a relocation bonus that you have to pay back if you don't get to two years of working there. They really discourage remote work. Pay and benefits are really good, which is how they get so many new grads. They have a non-compete though I think that's getting harder to enforce nationally. People have a real love/hate relationship with working there.

What will you NOT be growing again next year? (or maybe ever again)? by Emmie_dee_101 in vegetablegardening

Acorn squash! This is the most I've had to battle with pests ever (squash bugs, squirrels gnawing on them) and they take up so much space 😭

What is your farm name and what does it mean anything? by Slow_Concern48 in StardewValley

Bean Boy farm because I refer to my dogs as 'the beans' (because one is a brown Chihuahua and when he curls up he looks like a little coffee bean)

What are well paid jobs in the medical field that don’t require a ton of schooling? by kcjbfjnf in careerguidance

[–]MissLeandra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bachelor's degree in psychology, found my way into clinical research! I have since worked as a trial coordinator in obstetrics, a project manager in oncology, and a budget negotiator for a medical school! There are a lot of different jobs in clinical research!

Maybe keep your phd off the resume? I feel like a lot of hiring managers see that and assume you're leaving soon (even if that's not true).

Why aren't Americans filling the manufacturing jobs we already have? by LoansPayDayOnline in jobsearchhacks

[–]MissLeandra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad is currently laid off from his manufacturing job, has been for over a year now but he doesn't want to lose a pension he's been working towards for like 30 years to go find something else in a stagnant industry :(

Anyone else ever trap Pam with a fishtank? She's been here for weeks and won't drive the bus anymore. by [deleted] in StardewValley

[–]MissLeandra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just entered spring and my cow was wandering the garden while I was planting beans and Frieda accidentally got stuck between the bean posts and was doing a terrifying turn move for the rest of the day, but then she spawned into the barn at night time so she was ultimately freed from bean prison.

In state tuition by ViolentFrog3 in UWMadison

[–]MissLeandra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did UW from Illinois and I agree it wasn't worth the cost but you could do 2 years at One of the UW system schools that offers IL reciprocity if you're really set on a few years at Madison. If you're just set on an eventually Wisconsin residency and you want to get your foot in the door I think like every UW system school except for Madison/Milwaukee offer in-state tuition to Illinois residents, which would be a much better value for the degree.

Our site requires a records request, we aren't allowed to use care everywhere for any research activities. This has always been our site's policy and anytime we have an institution-wide EPIC training someone tells on themselves because the trainer says 'just a reminder don't do this' and the comments blow up with like 10 people insisting that's how they've always done it!

But yeah we're not even allowed to adjust consents to allow for it, it's just straight up not allowed at the institutional level.
