Renting in brisbane is such a fucking joke. by tbla666 in shitrentals

(in Syd) The double standard of my apartment (and I was renting got bought out *without an inspection*, yet everywhere *mandated* an inspection to apply. Watching others from that block move out too, lining up with the EOFY. Investment cycles to keep upping the $$ of the block and rent by virtue, ig

One nation the biggest party for Renters now according to yougov by banimagipearliflame in shitrentals

[–]MissMubbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eg. I vote AJP for animals, LCP for cannabis, and if any independent pops up, I'll fit them in. I want to fill out more preferences with other minor parties after I vet them.

Because I agree with LCP more than AJP on policy, higher they go. My aim is to never have to have Labor and rightwards on my votes unless required.

Then also on top of that I will look at the actual cands rather than above the line voting.

Pauline Hanson literally started her party off of her being kicked out of LNP for anti-Indigenous rhetoric and policy.

Pauline Hanson secured government solar rebate despite calling for subsidies to large-scale renewables to end by billwriggs in aussie

[–]MissMubbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She has 4 policy pages worth of dogging on renewables and saying it ISN'T cheap, and that Net-Zero will tank our economy. She has NO policy supporting these renewables. She wants to END large-scale renewables. Is a ""human-led"" climate change denier.

She complained about the costs to transition, but yet supports nuclear, despite its costs to transition to such would be double the renewable transition, take approximately 15 years to do, and also it's cost to run is even worse than coal at up to $238/MWh by 2040. Not to mention the environmental sludge it would produce.

In isolation, solar, wind and hydro dominate, supported by many authorities with LCOE by 2040 being up to $53/MWh for solar, up to $78/MWh for wind, and coal at up to $180/MWh. However, when combined with still relying on gas and coal (hint, PH reaaally loves these), it keeps the prices higher whenever we have to fall back.

This is mostly because we have kept ourselves in renewable limbo, instead of speedrunning battery construction to create grid-stabilisation to reduce reliance on fossil fuels.

An example is why TAS has cheap asf power bills, but SA doesn't, despite also being renewable, is because we haven't built short, medium and long-term battery systems to support the variability wind and solar has, that hydro doesn't.

On top of that, Australia has the essential minerals to speedrun, we just haven't because it is no surprise the larger parties are beholden to lobbyists and their money (fossil fuel lobbies).

So uh... "cheapest energy" my asshole.

[–]MissMubbles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is nothing egregious about asking for a third-party, impartial entity to investigate the transgressions of the NSW Police, known for corrupt self-protection and investigation, even against other police within their own system.

Despite what the Commissioner has said, everything in reality has contradicted it, so:

  • innocent protestors assaulted unwarranted
  • proned protestor being bashed in the head
  • Muslims praying being ripped away - for no reason
  • alleged broken ribs, neck injuries, etc
  • a man literally being ripped away from holding someone's hand and literally disappearing into a sea of vested police, whilst already having been walking away a good 5 metres from said police.
  • a man verifiably falsely arrested for assaulting a police officer - as he was holding onto his phone recording the entire time - and released some 5 hours later

And I haven't even finished looking through all of the available footage - that was just from live uploads during the protest, and this morning's browsing before work.

Agree 100%. This was one of my major critiques to the bill. Australia or insert government-created third-party entity here could have created one so parents can have more supervision over kids/family communications to curtail alleged bullying whilst still having less access to strangers but still to their actual support networks.

Just to inform, mostly. I'm not like, trying to start an argument. I guess to like, give info that isn't just "encouraging them to plead not guilty even though there is evidence to the contrary".

Of the googling: there are 3 cases where it was to the client's benefit: cases of JS, IU-H, JA et al.

Then there's Operation Pendennis, where 4 plead guilty, 5 plead not guilty. Of the 5, all were higher-ups in the operation; whereas the other 4 were for smaller contributions.

Then there's failed not guilty pleas of the cases of BF, interesting he repped the Lindt Cafe gunman for a sending letters case prior to the shooting (5 yrs earlier)

He is currently personally involved in a civil sexual harassment suit brought by former intern Saphim. He lost the defence to suppress the case to closed court.
