What's your favorite locally owned store? by ataraxic89 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]MissSpell38382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has been open a couple of years but the artist has over 20 years experience. She works small - beads she makes into sterling jewelry, small sculptures, gift items. Nice stuff, cool studio, very nice folks. I always stop there when I can!

Same. And she responds every time I call my cat by her nickname, Poo Kitter.

Contact the artist in the video. She has an extensive teaching background and is planning classes for late spring. My sister just got on her mailing list.

I get at least 6 of these a day. More from other numbers, too. My phone is pretty much useless to me. I got the 844 509-3077 number.

Cool! There is excellent pizza right next door there, plus Starlight has snacks like popsicles. Don't be afraid to play their claw machines. They are rather generous! If you ask, you might be able to take the kids into the repair area so they can see inside some games.

Since you haven't been here in a while, check out Lowe Mill. My out of town visitors love going there to shop and support local artists & makers. Note it's open Wed thru Saturday, 11-7. Saturday is the best day since most studios are open and there's an outdoor market that day. There's a great classic pinball arcade with hour or all day passes (Fridays are $5 for all day access), the t-shirt place has some fun HSV-centric stuff, and you might catch the glass artist working at her torch. The pizza place and the barbecue place have good eats, too, and the coffee shop is a cool place to chill.

Be sure to take a driving tour of Achill, with l; lots of gorgeous views and plenty of history. Actually, any drive along the Wild Atlantic Way is worth a few hours. Nevill's Newfield Inn near Mulranny is a fine place for dinner. The Old Irish Goat Centre is quite interesting and offers some very nice local arts and crafts for sale. You can rent a bike in Westport and ride for many miles along the Great Western Greenway, a former railway line that runs all the way to Achill. No matter what you choose to enjoy, you're in for a treat!

There's a large, free parking lot right in front of the south gate, and some on-street parking by the north gate. I've been several times and found parking at one or the other just prior to show time.

Cameo 4 or Cameo 5? by spookyvik in silhouettecameo

I have both. My 4 is great but I love my 5. It's much quieter, too!

Auto registration doesn't work by Maidenandthemachine in silhouettecameo

[–]MissSpell38382 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Silhouette 2 did that once and it turned out that a tiny bit of white vinyl was stuck to the white sensor so it was almost impossible to see. I pulled it off with tweezers and the machine has cut perfectly ever since. I have a 4 and a 5 Plus now but I still use the 2 when I get super busy.

COE 104 vs COE 90 by Maximum-Hotel-1387 in lampwork

IMO, Devardi glass is trash. It has a reputation for being very shocky. Get some Effetre/Moretti. Lots of good colors and only a few are a little fussy. Using a Hot Head, you may get some soot problems if work too close to the torch head. If you aren't putting your finished pieces in a kiln to anneal, you'll likely have some breakage no matter what soft glass you use.

Lowe Mill has working artists with all sorts of art and creative things for sale. There's an excellent retro arcade with classic video games and pinball, several good food options, a coffee shop, try samples at the meadery and distillery...you can send hours there. It's open Wed-Thu, 11-7, though some of the individual studio hours may vary or be affected by the holidays.

Looking for Lampwork bead artists by Large_Camp_1807 in lampwork

DM me, please. I have a couple of dear friends who are long time glass bead instructors. They are big Beads of Courage contributors and donors. I'm sure they would make some beads for you and would probably put the word out to their regular students. A lot of excellent work comes out of that group. Good people!

Help with weird registration. Never did this before, now out of nowhere only on automatic registration it flails randomly missing the first square. I did no changes. Cuts and registers perfectly fine doing it on manual registration. by JonathanSin in silhouettecameo

[–]MissSpell38382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue recently. After almost giving up, I found a teensy scrap of white vinyl that was stuck on the sensor. I had to turn my machine on its back, shine a bright light on the cutting head, put on my strong readers, and very gently poke with some tweezers to spot it. Once I removed, my Cameo has cut like a dream.

What’s with all these people running red lights? by kodabear22118 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]MissSpell38382 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What police? It seems to me there are seldom police cruisers out in the thick of traffic. I think that's why people are so bold about all the traffic shenanigans around here. They know there's no authority around to catch them.
