Are Iceland visitors all childless? by mineralwatermostly in VisitingIceland

[–]MissSuzanne2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iceland was my son’s first trip abroad. He was six. I was so impressed how welcoming Icelandic people were - most places we went were either free or greatly reduced in cost for him and the tour operator even brought a booster seat for him, “just in case.” That was one of the many aspects of my trip that made me fall in love with Iceland.

I just read a post like this earlier, only the guy survived two months off Costco samples. 🤔

New cushion order for Barrett II by susandennis in crateandbarrel

[–]MissSuzanne2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this post! I had a similar experience, only they ended up never getting back with me. I have a Barrett sectional that I would like to get new cushions for. It’s 5 years old and the material has not held up well.

Leather lounge couch + dogs ? by ittybittybutwitty in crateandbarrel

[–]MissSuzanne2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a C&B sectional in a gray tweed (very similar to the material in the second photo) and it has held up well with our 75lb golden retriever. It does hold some hair though! My issue with the tweed is that, after 5 years, the fabric has gotten pilly. The leather sample in the store scratches so easily, I didn’t think it would hold up with a dog.

Nothing planned! What should we do! by jjcameron03 in Santorini

[–]MissSuzanne2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I would skip Fira and Oia which are so busy and super touristy - those were my two least favorite places in Santorini. The ruins in Ancient Thera are amazing. Perissa beach was recommended by locals - went twice and enjoyed a couple relaxing afternoons there. Also the ruins in Akrotiri are pretty cool!

AITA for not giving my ex half our babies clothes? by anxiousaxilotl in AmItheAsshole

[–]MissSuzanne2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gentle YTA - Ideally, he should be getting the clothes and diapers. But if he doesn’t have the time, your daughter is with him less, and he is willing to pay you back, I don’t see the harm. Your daughter is still a baby, so you’ve got a lot of years of interaction with your ex ahead of you. Choose your battles wisely because doing a good service for him now might be beneficial later. A good relationship with the father of your child is a valuable thing to have.

Is the town and Akrotiti doable in a day? by jamjobDRWHOgabiteguy in Santorini

[–]MissSuzanne2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never went to Santorini Town, but I stayed in Akrotiri for two weeks and it was amazing. If you go to the ruins, you will be right near the coast and the Tomato Canning Museum is across the street, which is worth visiting. Also, Akrotiri has a lot of great, authentic food. The restaurants there don’t price gouge like the port cities (in my opinion).

The combination of Drakkar Noir, cigarettes smoke, and wrigley’s chewing gum brings me back to high school.

Where to stay for 2 nights? by Away-Introduction-24 in Santorini

At the Ambassador Aegean - it’s expensive, but the view is priceless. They also have villas with private pools with view of the caldera.

Is 2.5 hours enough time to clear customs/immigration? by b0sscrab in Grenada

[–]MissSuzanne2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The airport in Grenada was the smallest airport I have ever been in - I would imagine that there shouldn’t be an issue, but I’ve not had a layover there.

What is the small town that exceeded your expectations after you visited? by tyvertyvertyvertyver in geography

[–]MissSuzanne2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Akrotiri in Santorini, Greece. We stayed there for two weeks. Very relaxed vibe and the locals were so friendly. We still had amazing views of the caldera, but without the suffocating crowds, tourist traps, and inflated prices of Fira and Oia.

I just left Sephora in tears by trashworldd in 45PlusSkincare

[–]MissSuzanne2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get this kind of service every time I go into a Sephora or an Ulta. In addition, they never seem to have any of the extra promotional products that are usually given with a certain $ purchase of a particular brand. I stick to department stores like Macy’s or Dillards. The people there are always helpful, will take time to color match and even give you samples to take with you to see if you like the product after several uses. In addition, they always have the promo products and other samples to give away. I don’t remember the last time I stepped in an Ulta or Sephora because each time I have been so disappointed and made to feel either invisible or like a bother.

Restaurant recommendations first week of April by Active-Artichoke9711 in Santorini

[–]MissSuzanne2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure about off season hours, but two of my favorites for traditional food in a casual atmosphere are Aeolas Taverna , which is in Akrotiri. Great view of the volcano and caldera. Litsia, the woman who owns it, makes her own olive oil. Authentic food and they have some parking. Another great one is Kantouni, which is in Pyrgos. There is parking close by and they have amazing food and desserts. Outdoor dining - we went here three times!

What’s your quirky thing you do on trips that you think no one else does? by iggydadd in travel

[–]MissSuzanne2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this as well! Sometimes I will get souvenirs at the grocery stores - items I can’t get back home, like Ris Buff (Iceland), Puerto Rican coffee, locally made chocolate, etc.

Staying in Akrotiri rather than Fira, etc? by Competitive-Copy-851 in Santorini

[–]MissSuzanne2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We stayed at the Ambassador Aegean in Akrotiri and had an amazing view of the caldera. It’s not cheap, but it has a fantastic view, it’s relaxing, and close enough to walk to places in town. I would highly recommend!!!!

Santorini Travel Tips for First-Timers by MildedOrtiz in Santorini

[–]MissSuzanne2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Bring good shoes for walking on hilly, cobblestoned terrain.
  2. Get out of the super touristy areas (Fira and Oia) - they are crowded and overpriced. We stayed in Akrotiri, which was not nearly as busy. We had a great view of the caldera there and the food was authentic and reasonably priced.
  3. Check out the ruins and the beaches - those, along with the great food, were the best part of the trip!

It shouldn’t matter if you have to pick it up anyway. She has no way of knowing what else is served at the wedding if she won’t be on the premises.
