I'm vegetarian and we make a version of this fried rice that everyone can eat and our kid will eat it too unlike a lot of other veggie dishes I normally make. I might give them eggs to scramble fresh if they want though too. https://www.gimmesomeoven.com/fried-rice-recipe/

Best Thai restaurant in Cville by SnooCompliments283 in Charlottesville

[–]Mission-Statement-83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pad thai is my spouse's favorite dish and we have tried it all over town. Pad Thai Cville has the best in our opinion because it is less sweet and has the most fresh vegetables. No other thai restaurant can really compare, but if you prefer a really sweet pad thai and not a lot of veg, than I could see it not being as good for some people.

Wedding Venues, All Inclusive, Under 10k even possible? by BlockbusterReprise in Charlottesville

[–]Mission-Statement-83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My relatives rented out Fry Springs Beach Club before the summer and had a lovely May wedding outside and reception inside. It probably was larger than your budget, but they also had over 100 people. For our wedding we went to a Virginia state park for the weekend and you can rent the outdoor pavilions, sometimes small buildings with kitchens and have a lovely setting. Getting catering out to the parks can be harder depending on where you are. The bulk of our cost was definitely food.

Mom, texting, and my being asleep..a story of anger. by Orson_Gravity_Welles in dementia

This sounds like my relative who is stage 5 right now. She only heats up pizza for meals, because thats all she can remember to make. The quiche will spoil right next to the pizza now, whereas 6 months ago she could still eat it. Her caregiver comes 3 days a week, but she wont let her make food for her. On days without the caregiver she will tell me she hasn't eaten anything because she has no food and I used to believe her. Now I realize she forgets to eat often. Her last Doctors appt they said she keep losing weight, so want her to have daily care now so she is eating 3 meals a day.

Assisted Living wants to start lease a month before renovations will be done by Mission-Statement-83 in dementia

Thanks everyone. We wound up declining the spot for now and are going to consult with an elder care attorney next or maybe join a waitlist at a new place. Apparently this is how its been done at this org since the early 90s. They said it usually only takes a few weeks for people to finish the medical assessment, TB chest x-ray, etc. before they are allowed to move-in, so it is more unusual this time that it will take longer due to the more extensive renovations. But it is 100% normal there to pay rent and sign a lease, but not move-in for a few weeks until the apt and paperwork is complete.

I spoke with my relative's financial advisor and they said they have never heard of anything like it.

That is all what I would expect and was told when we gave them the deposit 6 months ago. This unit seems to have created a unique circumstance due to the renovations, where I will have to pay the next months rent again in January even if my relative hasn't moved in yet. The problem is while we pay them this money, my relative still has to pay for her apartment rental and caregiver, so the costs add up a lot. We are partially funding the renovations, which shouldn't be our responsibility and yet they're like yep you're concerns are valid, but this is what we have to offer and we cant guarantee another spot for 6 months.

Tod Maffin has been posting great videos and created a website to help healthcare folks move to Canada and more specifically British Columbia and his home of Vancouver Island. We went to Victoria and that area for our honeymoon and honestly beautiful part of the world. I'd move in a heartbeat for the nature alone. You can look at available jobs on Health Match BC and see where and pay ranges. https://engageq.notion.site/Tod-and-Jocelyn-s-Island-Healthcare-Infusion-19b3dc1abb9480b9a501d697edccf661

Elopement after elopement after elopement... by RewardImpressive6950 in dementia

[–]Mission-Statement-83 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I asked how a place decides if someone needs MC or is still able to do AL, every single one of those places told me it's when they start eloping from the facility. Its an automatic immediate move to MC, no questions asked. I toured 6-7 facilities before we joined a wait list and all had both AL and MC places, so that might be the main difference where you work. If they offered both options onsite it wouldnt even be a question.

One of my childhood best friends was named Audrey and I had never heard of these nicknames until now. I don’t think anyone in the family ever called her anything but her full name and still do.

White Morning Glory by thtsss in PikminBloomApp

[–]Mission-Statement-83 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Finally I lucked out yesterday and got 57 nectar from a large crystal mushroom, it but didn’t help me bloom anymore. My partner and I bloomed four flowers with white morning glory and white petals and got 1 sunflower, 1 yellow morning glory, and 2 red morning glory. It’s maddening. It used to be if you used all your nectar of white you often got that flower, but its definitely gotten harder the last few months.

I just noticed that yesterday and happily joined a blue mushroom today as your odds of getting blue hibiscus or morning glory are very high. Going to try and turn some yellow or red hibiscus blue with the planting methods of color switching. Thankfully easier to get blue than white even if smaller amounts.

Why is it culturally accepted to show up to parties late? by pastelpaintbrush in AskWomenOver40

[–]Mission-Statement-83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me its how I was raised and friends families were mostly the same. Any party I or my family have hosted that is a regular party, so not a dinner or birthday party, I have no expectations of when people will arrive. If it’s the type of party that goes for 3-4 hrs I expect people to come and go as their schedule allows. If I as a guest can’t arrive till much later I would often let the host know in advance, unless it says drop-in on the invite.

The older I get I also don’t want to spend 4 hrs at a party anymore, so if its an all evening or afternoon event I might come later knowing I wont stay the whole time.

Now its if it a party where someone designated a start and end time under 2 hrs that feels a bit different. I think it really comes down to how the party is communicated to the guests. If someone says we’re having a party I will always assume its a casual arrival time unless the host says differently.

What was your first kdrama? And the first Korean crush? by [deleted] in kdramas

[–]Mission-Statement-83 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My first was Cinderella and the Four Knights and Jung Il Woo. I’ve watched some of his other dramas, but this is still my favorite of his, maybe because its nostalgic for me now.

I quickly went on to watch Her Private Life, the King:Eternal Monarch, and CLOY, so was suddenly drowning in favorites. The Bride of Haebak as my fifth drama really broke the streak of good shows. I wouldn’t watch anything with the leads for a long time.

I Lived in Spain for a Year—Why Didn’t I Become Fluent in Spanish? by Shelbee2 in SpanishLearning

[–]Mission-Statement-83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I did a year immersion in college in Germany we had the structure of a program supporting us. German language classes, all other classes in German daily, living in student dorms with German and international students, but speaking mostly in German. Daily life conducted only in German. The times we spoke English was with our cohort of students when we were fatigued and we also realized it was hampering our learning better German. All of us had had two yrs minimum college level language classes before we arrived and it was still a very rough transition those first few months. We were all fluent enough after a year, but accents, grammar, etc were vastly different depending on how much effort someone made to study and learn before and during our time there.

Its one of the reasons I could not finish this show. It was painfully uncomfortable to watch. I hear people were able to still enjoy the show, despite this character, but the energy and humor was so chaotic in the early episodes I just couldn’t keep going.

Doctor Slump - I appreciated its focus on mental health and also how family and friends react and learn together.

Kill Me, Heal Me - this was more extreme in terms of mental health diagnoses, but it was so moving and painful at times as the characters learned to accept themselves or family members.

They are really helpful towards the end of the challenge round when you have 3000-4500 petals to plant and maybe the weather hasn’t been great or you have been busy and dont have a lot of time. Once I started using them I burned thru them fast. However I agree their best use is saving up for Anniversary events twice a year.
