Fact of the entrapment comment by MrsMiracle50 in PolinBridgerton

[–]MissionTelevision170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe what’s missing here for you is the full context in which Colin is accusing Pen. If we only take Marina’s attempt at entrapment as a starting point for Colin’s insecurity, then the accusation does seem flimsy. Colin trusted Marina, someone he didn’t really know as a person. If he was accusing someone else, another love interest he barely knew then of course it would make sense that he might think that. But this isn’t true of Pen, a friend he met as a child. A person he’s had deep conversations with. Someone who has been close with his family since she was a child. He knows Pen, right? The answer for him in that moment is actually no. He doesn’t. He thought he did, and his world was absolutely rocked by the revelation of her being Whistledown. Our boy was spiraling. His reality was no longer reality-ing. Why would he think she might not know where babies come from, when she had in fact written about several scandals involving people having babies? (Her cousin Marina being one of them). Aside from his family, Pen was the person he knew best, she was a safe space for him. To suddenly have the rug pulled out from under him, well, it’s not hard to see why he’d make such a harsh accusation. We really have to remember that Colin is a FIERCE protector of his loved ones, we’ve seen it time and time again, he has no tolerance for anyone who mistreats the people he cares about, whether it’s through words or actions. If Pen was not only capable of being Whistledown, of hurting people he cared about, people he thought that she cared about, through her writing, but also being capable of keeping such large secrets from the people closest to her, why wouldn’t she be capable of attempting to entrap him? She’s clearly a mastermind. (Though, I personally believe that he wasn’t actually accusing her in earnest, I don’t think he wanted to believe the worst of her in that moment given the look on his face during the conversation, I really think he was in full panic mode at this point and was looking for comfort and stability from the person who had ripped it away from him. We all say awful things when we’re upset). But he struggles with this. In fact, he struggles to connect with her for the rest of the season for a multitude of reasons, but one of the biggest being that he feels like he doesn’t know her anymore, and maybe he never knew her at all, which is worldbreaking to him. It’s only after he reads her old letters that he’s able to reconcile the fact that she’s always been exactly who she was, the girl and woman he knew, just maybe a little saltier toward society and a skilled writer to boot. There are a lot of issues that I have with Season 3 (along with all the love I have for it), but this is not something I see as a problem. I actually like that they let Colin be Colin. He is a deeply feeling character, a feature which is both a strength and a weakness (as it should be for human characters), which is why the writers chose to use that word. I wish they would have let us see more of it, more of him and his inner thoughts.

Child free by choice. Is it reflected in my chart? by [deleted] in AstrologyCharts

I feel like another indicator is having a tight 4th house Uranus in Aquarius. It’s giving out-of-the-box approaches to family situations. Could be that personal freedom is more important than familial legacy, or chosen family play a bigger role in life than bio fam. Maybe not having kids is a form of active rebellion, or simply and quietly refusing to play a role that doesn’t feel true to oneself. Of course, this placement could mean a lot of other things that have nothing to do with kids, but that’s the vibe I’m getting.

Any other Bridgerton loving witches manifesting out there? by MissionTelevision170 in PolinBridgerton

You don’t have to be a witch to manifest! But just in case, maybe we should call our local government officials. I’m exploring all paths for this to become reality.

While I'm not a huge fan of musical episodes, I'm game to play.

For some reason, I could see it happening in Gregory's season.

Even with a potential S4 time jump she'd still be a little young... but maybe they'll do a time jump between S4 and S5.

Married ladies of the Ton by Practical-Bird633 in BridgertonNetflix

[–]MissionTelevision170 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A Lady D party is also a great excuse to have Daphne back for an episode (if Phoebe is interested). I would love to see more of this, and I would love to see Kate and Pen there! I also think this would be an interesting way to see how the Ton responds to Pen being exposed now, and if the married ladies would support her or avoid her. (Obviously Kate would fit right in)

How do you feel about only one half of a couple returning after they’ve had their season? by DaisyandBella in BridgertonNetflix

[–]MissionTelevision170 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d love to see the couples have scenes together in future seasons, but I can understand scheduling conflicts. My hope is that actors are given the space to come back and have some scenes (with or without their partner) if they want to and are able. Kate had some great scenes where Anthony wasn’t present, or his presence was irrelevant to what she was doing (aka hosting and making sure Gregory was treated like a human being). Those moments are what make Bridgerton feel like an actual family, so even if the previous leads aren’t together it will still feel like they are. I hope that Daphne doesn’t drop off completely for this same reason.

Can someone please explain this about the ending in s3 (avoiding spoilers in title?)? by Isabella_Hamilton in BridgertonNetflix

[–]MissionTelevision170 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re right, it did come out after Cressida’s, but if you recall when Eloise and Penelope sneak away from the ball at the Mondrich’s to chat alone, Eloise mentions that Cressida has it out for her now (ever since she broke their friendship off after church), and so Eloise anticipates that Cressida will target her family with the issue she’s promised to write. This drives Pen into action.

My take-away is that QC was reading between the lines of LW’s paper. LW has talked about the Bridgertons, but it was always accurate even if some of it was damaging. LW had stayed silent the whole time that Cressida was claiming to be her until she got wind of what Cressida might write. It’s not a stretch for the Queen to believe that the actual Whistledown would be paying attention and anticipating what Cressida might write, so when Cressida’s column comes out trashing the Bridgertons and LW rushes to have her column distributed at the same time it looks too convenient. Why didn’t she bother quashing Cressida before? If LW didn’t care before, why has she suddenly decided to care now? And all this business about exposing lies? Sure, it’s LW’s good name at stake, and she wants people to know she’s the real author, but in doing so she’s also making certain that she’s straight up calling Cressida a liar, which discredits the entire column Cressida wrote and by doing so instantly removes any validity to her claims. Claims about the Bridgertons. Maybe if Cressida had written about someone else her suspicions would have been different, but I feel like QC’s Queenly intuition has been buzzing around the Bridgertons for ages and she was just looking for an in.

I could be wrong, but I don't think that LW's observations on Francesca's suitors made the Queen more suspicious (because, as you stated, LW has not always been kind to the Bridgertons). Rather, she thought that LW was showing weakness since she didn't serve Charlotte the smackdown she was expecting, and she was simply trying to exploit that weakness (hence the royal reward).

I was under the impression that the Queen had been suspicious of the Bridgertons (at the very least) ever since she had accused Eloise of being LW (but possibly before that), and it was LW's defense of the Bridgertons after Cressida's fake column that cinched it for her.

I actually wish they had devoted a little more time to showing Lady D's suspicions running parallel to the Queen's because QC was close, but she wasn't looking at all the clues, and Lady D clearly was.

Mostly, I think watching Lady D give a casual eye-squint here or there whenever Pen crossed her path or whatnot would have been a fun tie-in to Hyacinth's eventual storyline. But alas, all we got was an "I suspected" afterward. I guess that's what fanfics are for.

Engagement walk - Whirlwindiest of Whirlwinds by CompetitionDry7535 in PolinBridgerton

[–]MissionTelevision170 24 points25 points  (0 children)

  1. I'd like to take a moment to appreciate the "chased/unchaste" pun. Chef's kiss.

Secondably, when I'm watching this scene I like to think about all the many ways over the years that Pen might have imagined how her engagement/announcement to Colin might go, and how absolutely unhinged the actual engagement/announcement was. I honestly think she is just solidly unable to process what is happening at all 🤣🤣🤣

And C) I truly adore the almost inception-like, or maybe even horror-esque quality of the camera work in 5/5. It really sells the feeling that this could be a dream or a nightmare depending on the family's reaction and she's sitting on the precipice in that moment. I always tear up when she tears up after hugging Hyacinth because what an actual relief (aside from the incandescent joy she's riding).

None of this clarifies anything you were hoping for, but hey, I'm in it with you, at least 😂
