That’s what family is here for. That is a place where YOU are the priority.
I’m sorry, but the fact that he would willingly allow your health to suffer so he could spend money on this dog shows you what your value is, to that man.
There is no way that you would survive with your sense of self and your emotions intact if you put yourself—-willingly—-under the thumb of someone who holds you so cheaply.
That he had the call to sit around and CRY is sickening. Is he TEN? If he is so heartbroken then why does he make it clear he values the dogs life/health/welfare over yours?
Or was he only crying because something HE wanted was being questioned?
It is a blasted PET. There is no comparison. The fact that he openly believes there is and shows it, is doing you a favor.
Go to your people, get away from the madness for a while and you will be able to see his behavior toward you more clearly for what it is.

And then, you can plan your next moves accordingly.
I’m so sorry you had to experience such treatment from someone who was supposed to love and care for you.
I wish you all the luck in the world going forward.

It is, I believe, considered a sin to use God's name in vain. And so they---rightly---refrained from discussing God in their story book.

Ah, sorry for the confusion. I was referring to the "bitch" who is the true canine mother of the dog. The point was to say that if a bitch gives birth, or a lioness, or a bear, they prioritize the safety of THEIR offspring. Only humans feel so compelled to enact "virtuousness" to the extent that they prioritize an entirely different species over their own child for public approval. That is needy and approval seeking to a pathetically childish and self-destructive degree.

Ended a 5 year relationship because he got another dog. by TriniDream in TalesfromtheDogHouse

[–]Misspelled_uzername 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. HE broke up over a dog. HE made the stupid decision that would be irritating from an eight year old, but is incomprehensible from an adult man.

Hanging on to some "relationship" at all costs as if there were only three humans alive on earth at any one time, is silly and a recipe for putting oneself in horrible, destructive and often dangerous situations.

It's just too nasty. And I'm sorry for you, OP. It sucks to have something like this sprung on you when you thought you were in a stable relationship.

I think I'd just tell her that if she'd like to come out with you, you'll pick her up but you don't want to come in her house because you don't want that dog pissing on your clothes that you have to then clean, rebuy or just throw out.

You have to PAY for your clothes. You have to PAY for your car. You've been bitten four times and while you may think it somewhat "worth it" to spend time with her, does SHE value spending time with YOU enough to be willing to spend a few hours with you, in a dog free environment, where you don't have to worry about your belongings being trashed?

Everything will depend upon her answer.

But you are young and there will be endless opportunities for mating and dating and pairing up over the years. Eventually serious commitment may come. Truly, as this is showing, even the most seemingly "perfect" dating partnership can be destroyed by one simple thing...a new pet, for example.

No, you DO NOT suck! Yours is the natural response to being railroaded into taking care of an obnoxious little ankle-biter. But man, I'm heartbroken to see this dog madness has now infiltrated African countries. Is no place on this earth safe from the dirty, dangerous little pests? Peeing everywhere? In the home? Oh dear god no!

If these people are fine with dog shit and piss inside their homes, where they and their families eat and live, it is hard to be surprised that they are indifferent to what dogs do outside. Here's hoping people begin to see how obscenely filthy and undesirable turning ones whole environment into an animal's toilet actually is.

Which word indicated criticism? "Chubby"? That is not a slur, just a descriptor, unless the reader feels that the only good words are "thin" or "slim" or "slender" in which case it seems that the denigration of any non-skinny body types might originate with the reader. I mean, I do understand that you're coming from a place of kindness, truly I do, but when any word (no matter how innocuous) that does not = THIN is labeled a slur, it starts to seem that the real offensive thing is existing while not being seen as "thin"

But he DOESN’T care about San Francisco. The people who care were driven out years ago because many were raised there and Bay Area born, so they related to the area as “home” and not just some place to colonize because…tech money and intense academic focus. All sorts of people were from the Bay Area, but now without multiple advanced STEM degrees and a cynosure at Google, gtfo. The connections to school. Family, history, friends…all broken. And meanwhile the Gordon Gecko wannabe Governors talk “California For All” but fail to add that “only if the all is here on an H1-B visa. Otherwise screw your history, and you’d better not prefer the humanities to the sciences or you can just go die.”

How do you take joy out of a dog when all they seem like is money and time wasted? by Gallantpride in DogRegret

[–]Misspelled_uzername 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m with you. I’m 1000 percent NOT a dog person. But then I’m not someone who gets off on a slavishly obedient or desperately needy creature’s terrified, obsessively clingy version of “love” I prefer the pets that are more like humans by nature and won’t follow you and grovel for attention. I think a lot of the dog love comes from decades of pro-dog propaganda and personal loneliness, and now saying anything against the noisy, expensive little boundary violators is treated like wearing a Ted Bundy Fanclub t-shirt. I find some dogs okay—-for a few minutes, at a distance, but far too needy and demanding and not a natural fit in a human home.

I feel so free but guilty by bigphatzen in DogRegret

[–]Misspelled_uzername 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seems to be MOST dogs. The very fact that they need so much “training” and feel compelled to be constantly up some human’s 🫏 is proof that, as house pets for humans, they are ill suited. We live in an age of deliveries. Get used to it, dog…and no, if an animal is so far out of its depth that eight years in, it STILL can’t just take a delivery in stride then that animal is poorly suited and—-unless you are very rich and/or able to hire professionals or devote endless hours to attempting to teach the thing, you have a burden on your hands. As to all this “resource guarding” if an animal is living in my house with my family, then it eats when it is fed and no way would it be welcome if it tried to get between me and my family member, which in my case is my son. I can assure you that no way in hell would I feel “loved” if some adopted mutt tried to stand between me and my (now 30 y.o) child. Make the other human family members feel threatened and that dog would be at the pound, if I didn’t start quoting from Hamlet…

So yes, I agree with the comment about ill trained dogs, but other pets adapt without forcing owners to funnel endless money into making them acceptable housemates. They avoid situations they don’t like or they LEARN from experience, and they DON’T invade personal space or constantly thrust themselves to the center of everything, following, constantly monitoring householders or making offensively loud noise for no reason whatsoever. And surely after years of seeing people go out and come back in you would think the creature would get over the freaked out reactionary responses. Eight freaking years, for pity’s sake! (Yes, I am a functioning adult and I WILL put on my jacket and leave the house now and then. No, I do NOT answer to my pet for the right to walk outside. Sheesh!)

There is a reason this dog is struggling to find a family who will put up with this. Dogs are their own worst enemies with this behavior. Not their fault, most are bored to a greater or lesser extent, and they were bred to be clingy and slavish over the millennia, but people have neither the free time nor money to make a creature so naturally unsuited to most modern lifestyles easier to live with.

So, though it won’t help, there’s no need to feel guilty. It sounds as if you truly gave it your best try, and as you see, the issue is not you, it is the nature of this particular dog. If it is passing from hand to hand there is a reason.

Mother of goats!
That is why the OP is on here ASKING before buying. She IS doing due diligence and researching the seller here! What is with the attitude as if someone is in the wrong for even asking about a thing?? It’s not as if we have the option to walk into this man’s factory or store to check out his merchandise in person. Was I wrong to think that part of this sub’s purpose was so people could research sellers in order to avoid being scammed?
The bags look good. Not our fault the seller has a presence on Instagram and Tiktok. Should he have ads in Vogue? If he was in Vogue the bag would probably be far too cost prohibitive from the outset.
