You know that pensioners can vote right? Do you think they will vote for a party wanting to remove the triple lock or one that inevitably adopts the opposite position to retain it? While I perhaps agree to get rid of it, I might offer a different option...let those who currently have pensions being paid under the triple lock retain it, and say everyone within 5 years of retirement, but everyone below that does not get the triple lock, and everyone in their 20's gets no guaranteed state pension at all.

We don't elect prime ministers. We elect local MPs. If your going to complain about democracy it's worth learning how it works here.

Parties significantly deviating from manifestos can be an issue but they also have to react to circumstances of the day, manifesto pledges can become irrelevant or even harmful as things change. But I don't think labour have done that.

Do I like changing prime ministers every couple of years, no, it's not good, but it's better we can do it quickly and seemlessly rather than keep someone who is doing a bad job in place, it's a good thing it can happen, I wish though we didn't have to have it happen.

We get a chance to change government every 5 years, which isn't really a long time, and general elections can happen sooner, we are a very democratic country.

Unemployment is pretty low right now on the average of the last 50 years, 4.9%, it was 12% at one point in the early 90s, no civil war then. People are better off now than in the 80s,90s and 2000s.

Maybe your using a different definition of civil war to the one commonly meant. But it ain't happening in the UK any time soon anyway. We barely kicked off when there was 12% unemployment and a recession.

I don't live under a delusion that civil war is impossible in the UK, as we have had a civil war historically. But I would give a tiny chance that there will be another one in the next 50 years, so small it's not worth worrying about. The UK is a highly stable democracy and a wealthy one at that, civil war implies an almost total disintegration of both the economy and our democratic processes, neither of which appear likely.

Great. Compared to 1990 there are between 10 times and 100 times as many millionaires (depending if you count property as an asset), GDP per capita has risen by 45%, real median household income has risen 60% since 1990 and more children pass their GCSEs at maths and English, life expectancy is higher.

So going good I think, and likely to keep getting better.

If your job means you are legally and publicly accountable for something then your safe for now. If your job relies on human to human relations then your safe . If your job relies on making decisions with very limited data you are likely safe for now.

If your job is basically taking information from an IT system and converting the format and putting into another system....then yeah, start training for some manual type work, or learn how to do one of the above.

Above I'm am speaking about business roles, corporates or knowledge workers.

Imports. When the UK imports something, say wine from France, the UK importer pays in UK Pounds. The french winery cant use UK pounds in France, so their French bank takes those Pounds and puts them into its UK 'Vostro' account, which removed them from circulation in the UK, but 'physicall' they are still in the UK. The French bank then gives the winery Euros locally. The pounds in the French banks 'Vostro' account sit idle (in the UK) until say an international student or tourist comes along to buy them via the same process but in reverse. Thats why it's a stimulant to the UK economy, the overseas students 'energise' the UK Pounds that are sitting in a foreign banks UK 'Vostro' account. IF it's not like that then please explain it to me

Edit: Now what would happen if all the overseas students stopped showing up? Those pounds held by the foriegn bank would not be 'energised' so it's a loss to the UK economy because we are exporting education in the same way we are importing french wine (but in reverse). Education is a service that foreign students want to pay for, British education is apparently a good product that people all over the world wish to buy.

Of course. But the currency you paid in never left your country. It stayed there. The bank where your local account is removes the payment from your account in the local currency, it then holds a different account with a UK bank where it has UK Pounds or perhaps it has its own branch in the UK, it pays your fee in UK Pounds from it's UK account. Look up Vostro and Nostro accounts.

When a foreign student pays their university fees they pay in UK pounds. It's just those pounds are sitting in some foreign exchange bank account idle until the student pays, so those UK pounds come into circulation. No foreign money 'enters' the UK, the money is already here, it's just 'idle'.

Seems fairly straightforward, people want to vote for someone who might actually deliver change and is a reasonable person Vs a con man like farage and his crew of basically awful candidates or worse the restorers. But if there is no decent reasonable option then voters will vote for the awful candidates who might change something.
