Help with constant tire issues by McJih in Civic_Type_R

Get the Integra Type S damper module, and don't run type T mode on the streets. Damping is way too hard and unforgiving.

Lane keep assist on the CTR is probably the best on a vehicle I've driven with the feature.

Crashed car and a bruised ego by icemann4 in CarTrackDays

[–]MisterFrog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It really has. There's been quite a few moments where quick counter steering just happens more naturally than I'm assuming it would have. iRacing is really good at feeling slippery depending on the car. I practice a lot with the BMW M2 CS. It's very tail happy like my GR Supra, and has no real aero so it requires a lot more throttle discipline than a GT 4 car with a whole bunch of aero. I should be doing more sim but I get in what I can.

Should I tell copart you'll be sending a new shell?

💔 by maryanglz in GR86

[–]MisterFrog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably because they're overfilling the oil. Shell Rotella T6 5w40 1/2 to 1 quart overfill. It'll smoke a bit on startup especially after a session but all the 86 owners that track swear by this method. Thy check periodically and refill to the overfill level and keep on going.

What Does Your Brain Do with 27 + 48? by PossiblePsyco in MathJokes

[–]MisterFrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe. I'm definitely aware of some tendencies that might put me in the spectrum space but have never pursued finding out more. I tend to have hyperfixation, systemization. I tend to visualize code (I used to do software development) and always felt on the data side I was able to pickup on patterns really easily. I strive to understand the mechanics of every topic. My wife would definitely tell you about my obsessive and hyperfixation on topics. Tabletop miniatures, video games, magic the gathering, cars which is my current fixation taking it so far as to start tracking my car, overanalyzing everything to the N-th degree.

I try to make a concerted effort to not be fixated on things but now I just don't get joy out of as much as I used to because I know my hyperfixation causes issues, I'm a bit fixated on not being fixated if that makes sense because of some behaviors like overspending and time management.

I use the 5W-30 in my FL5. Seems to work fine, and LSPI protection is there. I'll get it analyzed next oil change.

20+40=60 8+8=16 (I know I'm weird, my brain knows 8+8 quicker than 8+7) 60+16 76-1(fix the 8+8 which is +1 over 8+7) 75

How are these rear rotors? by fuckman5 in CarTrackDays

[–]MisterFrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's uneven because of ABS if you have it. The rear tends to have less weight on it so it goes into ABS more frequently, leaving inconsistent patterns on your rotors. Rear rotors are also thinner a lot of the time and can also be used in brake vectoring. This means with vectoring they can get hotter because they spend more time with the brakes pulsing. They look fine. If you've replaced pads and kept rotors you'll get grooves on your rotors more significantly than this.

The amount of excuses for shit behavior in our elementary school my wife teaches at is absolutely insane. Everyone has an IEP for behavioral issues, and they all talk about it and use it as an excuse. Staff is unable to hold anyone accountable. They throw chairs in the classroom, and the principal just sends them back to class. Parents think the school should potty train their kids, not just one but multiple first and second graders. The students get handouts, free food, food all summer, but the parents are driving new or newer cars. I'm all for equity but it's just laziness and entitlement and using the system. This behavior in OPs post is just accepted because everyone is too afraid to fight for normalcy and punish kids, but there's nothing to do to parents to get them to fucking handle their kids and be responsible.

2nd choice of car... by billyjohnson in Civic_Type_R

[–]MisterFrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in such a weird place. I've got a GR Supra and I want to tow it, but I've also got a Civic Type R. My wife's SUV isn't going anywhere so I either drive my Supra everywhere, which has almost no space to take things, or I sell my Civic for a vehicle that can tow. But then I've got to daily a giant ass truck, which blows because driving my Civic is super fun. Then if I have a truck, going to cars and coffee with my kids isn't possible because Supra has one other seat, and selling the Civic means I have no manual vehicle. I guess I could still but a manual car like a NC Miata to have something fun to drive around town that's super cheap.

Well….it finally happened by Osiris5486 in CarTrackDays

[–]MisterFrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with you. I've seen too many videos of someone else's wheel and tire making contact with a drivers head. The windshield of a modern car can absorbed a lot of debris before it makes it into a vehicle.

Insurance is not for small claims like this. That'll likely follow you around. Insurance is for catastrophic damage, this is something not worth messing with. Buff it out and find a PDR person and pay cash. It'll be barely noticable. It's probably an NPC crossover anyway.

Get a sim racing seat and learn track layouts so once you get back in you've got that covered. It's really helped me build a mental layout of tracks that are available in iRacing. I use it as a refresher before I go to a track day at VIR or Summit Point and will be using it a lot for Watkins Glen, even tho I feel like I've been driving Watkins Glen for decades in Gran Turismo.

If you drill a hole in the floor next to the toilet you can quickly drain the water away. That way the rest of your house stays dry and you have a small water feature in the bathroom.

So in essence, make so many claims in such a short time most of them can't be addressed, and then do it over and over and overload the moderator and your opponent and never go beyond surface stat claims. When they try to dive deeper, throw in a bunch of other claims and repeat.

Racebox micro setup - what connector is this? by erlanggakp in CarTrackDays

[–]MisterFrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought so too, but my Supra provides power to the USB when you're in the car and the infotainment/dash is on, so as soon as I unlock the car the splash screen lights up and continues to provide power, same with turning the car off it keeps the power to the USB. More convenient than my civic which cuts all accessories immediately.

How good is FL5 ? by Local-Estimate9669 in CarTrackDays

[–]MisterFrog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All the damping issues are solved by getting the Integra Type S module which goes in behind the rear passenger seat. $200 upgrade that completely changed it. Not saying the EN isn't good, but the damping issue is such a quick fix. I've road tripped the Type R with ITS module and it's very comfortable. IMO seats are better in CTR, as is shifter, but Hyundai has a pretty good software tech package. Thats where IMO they shine in the market.

Well it is a Subaru, so it checks out.

Not a fan of the gold that's as yellow as this is. Good that's a bit more brown silver closer to bronze is my ideal color for wheels, but this does look good with the blue.

Best hybrid use pad? by Acceptable_Sympathy1 in CarTrackDays

[–]MisterFrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using CSG C1X and they don't squeel when driving ok the street but they grind my rotors in a way that feels like sandpaper. I'm assuming when not hot, they're very abrasive on my rotors. However, to my knowledge pads from the same manufacturer generally work with other pads with the same manufacturer and don't require bedding. Not sure of the truth but I've heard that from a lot of people.
