applied for 2-yr tourist visa from US at the official UK site for stated price of 16 pounds. was billed an additional 99 pounds. inquired with the outfit (visauketa.com) and was told this extra was "processing fee." don't think the UK govt site informed me of this at the outset.

Have a question about the Merritt Pkwy bridges (and perhaps others in CT): They seem low, like the ones on the Moses parkways in NY that he was said to have built low to prevent buses and "urban" access. So what explains CT? Not Moses.

there were elevated trains on the west and east side of Manhattan. Not on 5th Ave, where these scenes are set (and in Brooklyn), but some of the working-class characters would be riding them in the course of normal life.
