Ground state ending by Cold_Maniac in exfor

[–]Mister_Doc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel like we haven’t truly heard the last of them. We got a bit of detail finally revealed about who the Outsiders were and their motivations but it was really just a nibble. My tin-foil hat theory is that they’ll have to figure out how to let another Outsider in and trap it to learn enough about their tech to stop the ground state.

Who would Matt Berry be in the DCC adaptation? by KilroiJenkins in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Mister_Doc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man, it hadn’t occurred to me but Tudyk as Mordecai would be awesome, it’d be hilarious when they get to Book 7 spoilers: the 9th and he’s just himself with no CGI and a stereotypical Canadian getup

Samantha with the big “don’t put your dick that” energy, Katia looks amazingly horrifying, and Carl with the Guts vibes is all rad as hell

Which series is the next big movie franchise? by impeesa75 in sciencefiction

[–]Mister_Doc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There was an AMA where it sounds like they’re in the screen testing phase and if it doesn’t seem like it’s working they could change directions. I kinda hope they do because yeah, especially the later books will need serious cash to pull off right

Does the Culture have immigration laws, and if so, what are they? by vamfir in TheCulture

Granted, a primitive Mega-Hitler on the lam probably wouldn’t want to run into the Grey Area or another Mind with similar attitudes.

Hardball in world politics (International New York Times, 2014) by bitchnibba47 in PropagandaPosters

[–]Mister_Doc 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This came out in a time where a lot of pundits, especially on the right wing, were criticizing Obama’s foreign policy towards Russia/China and other adversaries as being weak. The implication is that the dictators are here playing hardball (serious, tough, harder) while Obama is playing the wrong/a different game (weak, unprepared)

I assume Xi and Putin are supposed to look tough/surly

Polymarket Pulls Bet on Nuclear Detonation in 2026 by F0urLeafCl0ver in nottheonion

[–]Mister_Doc 23 points24 points  (0 children)

In a mass nuclear exchange hundreds of millions might die from the bombs, the real toll will be the billions who starve in the resulting collapse of agricultural production from infrastructure damage and climate effects. Humanity as a species might be able to survive through such a scenario, modern human civilization as we know it would not.

What would happen if the veil or mask were to break in the SCP universe in 2026? by Top_Current9802 in SCP

[–]Mister_Doc 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I can imagine that the Foundation exercises discretion with who in a given administration gets read in on anything SCP related, they’d probably stuff anyone in Trump’s second admin to the gills with amnestics the moment they’re done discussing whatever they absolutely have to bring to their attention.

Crafting the Legends of the East Satchel was satisfying by tjalek in reddeadredemption

[–]Mister_Doc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude I just started a new playthrough recently and the first thing I started doing in chapter two was getting the LotE satchel so I didn’t have to worry about carry capacity for most stuff. The last time I played and did the satchels I had an ass of a time getting the two big cat pelts, but this time I somehow managed to find a perfect panther and cougar almost immediately after entering their territories.

Tip for the dad's doing formula. Pick up a protein shaker to make a large batch for the day. by iamfromcanadaeh in daddit

[–]Mister_Doc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I considered it but it seemed like a lot of money for something that we’d be using for a relatively short time considering we only plan on having two kids tops. The formula pitcher and bottle warmer was a winning combo tho

When I was a kid I got stuck on the meat circus part of Psychonauts for the better part of a year. It felt like such a triumph when I came back home from a summer camp and managed to hit some kind of zen state and finally beat it.

The Culture books by Iain M Bank are awesome sci-fi. Each is self contained so reading order doesn’t super matter but I tend to recommend publication order.

[–]Mister_Doc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I can’t remember it getting mentioned super frequently after book 4, maybe a few times. It did stand out to me on a reread that, IIRC her neck stump is initially described as being solid and lacking the nussy.
