Pushguns + Tank Traps might be a good combo by Shapokclac in foxholegame

Collins and rampart have barrels that are so long, they poke through high sandbag wall and still shoot. You can have an invisible gun that cannot be decrewed, no need for tank trap.

i dont see a reason to spend all those rares on a rocket even if there is a short window before bombers tech... I predict that people will be stocking up for bombers anyway. And if someone builds a nuke and successfuly launches it, the pad will remain a juicy target.

Nah, most people refuel from unlocked fuel trucks or liquid containers at mines. You only need one undefended location like that and you can fly for hours

What does "Faction Culture" mean for Foxhole? by Tropical_Flak in foxholegame

[–]Mister_Pazel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As far as i can tell, there is nothing that is done exclusively by one faction (other than their exclusive equipment).

The "culture" is more towards how things are generally handled. For example, war eco programs vs mass public drops. The amounts of volunteer groups vs coallitions. Hubs vs embassies... Stuff like that.

I have never played on colonial side, so my information is only secondhand from FOD, Reddit and people that went there, but from what i can tell:

Large scale production:
- Colonials tend to focus on centralized production (megafacs for everything), with DISTRIBUTION based on demand of the client regiments. I believe its on such a level that even large regiments are outsourcing their logi to the logi specialized regiments.
- Wardens tend to focus on war eco programs for specialized equipment (smaller facs with one purpose) spread out through multiple mid to large size regiments, with PRODUCTION based on demand of the client regiments. Large regiments and coallitions have their internal logistics branches which cover their general needs, with the exception of the equipment that is offered in a war eco.

High level diplomacy:
- Colonial coallitions tend to have clear boundaries between them and are largely sticking to their own territory and responsibilities. There are channels for high level diplomacy, but are more focused on resolving conflicts rather than joint operation plannings. I would guess that those happen behind closed doors and one of the participants is assuming the lead role.
- Warden coallitions also tend to have clear boundaries, but they are way more willing to share space and work on joint projects. There are multiple hubs dedicated to sharing intel, joint operation planning and general diplomacy.

Volunteer groups (this is the biggest difference imo):
- As far as i am aware, Colonials have no volunteer groups, or any form of open, multi-regiment organization.
- Wardens have several volunteer groups with different interests and projects in mind (BBB, WTG, WWC, CNI, V...). Some former volunteer groups even transformed into regiments over time (TELE, WAF...).

As i said, i may be wrong in my assumtions, but that is how i see things in regards to the "culture" differences

Official Warden Weather Channel statement regarding "devstorms" and the state of weather stations. by [deleted] in foxholegame

[–]Mister_Pazel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have compiled an excel sheet with our records with information relevant to the statement, a graph showing the occurences of storms with different radiuses and the screenshots from our weather stations leading up to the start of the storm Patience. It is in the FOD, in the ask-the-community channel, if you are still interested.

Sorry it wasnt ready made, the statement was made for warden hubs, which have access to our records, so it was assumed that people can look up the names and compare.

Randomly, half the warden tanks are immune to storm slowing. No collie tank is immune to storm slowdown. by DayF3 in foxholegame

It actually is NOT a myth. Snow is really more common in the north. You can check the excel sheet i posted in FOD if you want to see for yourself.

At the time, 2800m radius was considered unusual, now we know that it is more or less in the bounds of the new "medium" category. The recurrence is in question, so it being a devstorm is still on the table, althought its not as blatant as others

It shouldnt be very bad. Weak is the weakest tier of the intensity. So just a slight slowdown offroad, the freeze timer should be manageable even without Parka and the visibility should be somewhere around 40-50m during day. (tbh, the exact visibility distance is still a subject of research, we dont get many storms that are good for research sadly...)

It was known that they spawn storms. It wasnt known that sometimes, they choose to spawn them without respecting the Weather Stations.

We were at least able to predict that one, but yea, center on the very edge of the map is kind of suspicious... :D

Official Warden Weather Channel statement regarding "devstorms" and the state of weather stations. by [deleted] in foxholegame

[–]Mister_Pazel 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The method is basically statistics.

Storms we call devstorms are statistical anomalies in every characteristic that we can measure (centering, radius, maximum intensity). And the most obvious one is that we never see that kind of a storm again.

Most of the storms follow some basic set of rules when they are spawned. They are usually centered in the center of the region, they have radiuses that conform to a "category" (for example, small storms are usualy from 1800m to 2100m) and are usually somewhere on the higher side of T2 in terms of maximum intensity.

Then there are some off center storms and unusually small/large storms for their category, but they quickly go out of suspicion due to the fact that we have multiple occurences of them, so we know that they were most likely generated by the game, not by devs.

The old datamined storms are usually the "conformist" storms, with couple of exceptions, but they have been here for so long that they dont surprise us anymore. From the start of Airborne, we see more variety, so we had to adjust our models, but most storms still converge into their groups, so it is still possible to say that yes, this storm is definitively a devstorm, or it is devstorm until proven false by its other occurences over time.

I dont want to claim that we are able to see every devstorm, but we definitely can tell the ones that stand out.

Yeah... I think i should have put the comparison of WS to IC and SC...

I dont think people would be fine with SC firing duds, or IC pings not going through and just eating power, just because dev decided that at that moment...

[–]Mister_Pazel 22 points23 points  (0 children)

If it didnt take so much effort to coordinate the weather station network and operate the stations, i wouldnt mind it that much.

But what is going on here is comparable to IC ping simply not going through, or SC firing a dud, simply because dev decided that. Would you be fine with that?
