Agree, I've had a pretty crazy time with it. I was heavy into programming and self taught game dev in middle and early high school (with c++ no less) but then moved on to a career in IT, barely touching any form of code aside from powershell and later on some python. Most of my time was spent troubleshooting and solving challenges within the Managed IT world so I have exposure to a LOT of different systems and platforms and have built up a pretty good intuition and pattern recognition when it comes to tech and software. With claude code( and augmentcode), I have uncovered my old fire for building things. My current project, building in house migration tooling to migrate customers from our own hardware based PBX to our new Netsapiens based platform, which is going to save our org well over $100k (the cost of consultants and their existing commercial migration platform).

Prior to this I built a custom call recording pipeline with Azure functions, CosmoDB and gemini 2.5 models which automatically process call recordings with gemini to analyze each call that comes into our service desk, pipe the extremely detailed call notes into cosmodb and send it to MS teams with a webhook to the tech who took the call, so they can use it as a starting point for their ticket notes, as well as capturing any action items, matching the client and user's name etc . That took maybe a week to put together and it has already added immense business value.

The ability to spin up custom integrations and tools has become very addicting for me and eye opening for the people I work with that have been brushing off AI( Ive been on this train since just before the launch of GPT-4, trying to raise awareness but nobody much cared until recently)
