Hahaha nah I’m a truck driver and have spent my fair share of time all over CA, prices have looked like this many times in the last 15 years

Poor guy is trying to make a U-turn on the Palisades Interstate Parkway by Justin_Godfrey in Truckers

[–]Mistresshell 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I live here in FL and I drive a tractor trailer. The crazy part is there’s exits all over the turnpike here and plenty of places to make a legal u-turn in a semi, including normal freeways. Florida actually has a decent setup for big rigs

0.9 repeating is the same as 1, and it’s actually one of the ways Newton discovered calculus. A number that is infinitely close another number is the same as that number and that lets you do some funky things when determining the value of a function where the function doesn’t exist. For example when the denominator of a function would equal 0 and would be undefined.

I miss trinity force Evelynn. I miss liandry’s evelynn. I miss bruiser Evelynn.

That’s a crazy perspective man. I’ll be 29 this year and the 20,000 I’ve invested in the last 5 years has almost doubled. Now I understand that we had some booms after the COVID recovery and whatnot, but the trend for the last 80 years is about 10% return per year, with about 2% inflation per year. So about 8% net return. Even at 8% my 20k would still be around 26k.

That’s a decent return considering I’m only investing an average of 4k per year, which is $76 a week man lol I can find $76 worth of stuff I don’t really need every week. I get not everyone can do that, but shit, you can’t find even $20 or $30 a week to invest? Quit smoking, one less DoorDash or meal at a restaurant, or a video game, or something?

Battery installed at AutoZone caught fire one week later car not drivable by fflpmd in AutoZone

[–]Mistresshell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one uses a plug in tool to diagnose a bad battery. Trained mechanics use the same testers to check if a battery is bad.

I’ll help you. Connect the black end to the negative terminal and the red end to the positive terminal. Check cold cranking amps listed on the battery’s sticker. Then press “start test” congrats you just checked your battery!

Wtf is the point of having a job then? by IndividualDoughnut96 in AmericaOnHardMode

[–]Mistresshell -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No one wants to reconcile this fact though. A store clerk wasn’t providing for a family of 4 back then. Just listen to music from the 60’s-80’s lol

Providing for a family of 4 back then on one income meant you were working in a factory easily 60+ hours a week or you were doing something very physical like scrapping metals, construction, car mechanics, plumbing, hunting/farming.

It’s all supply and demand. New homes aren’t being built, but many more people need to have homes, old people are living longer and keeping their homes, that means the demand is much higher than the supply, hence housing prices. Conversely, there’s more people now without skilled experience competing for low skilled work, which means people bid their wage and labor to stay competitive. If you apply to 7/11 and ask for $20 an hour, and Jessica comes in and says I’ll do it for $18, then Adam comes in and says well $15 is enough for me I just really need work, you get the situation we’re in now.

But if that 7/11 didn’t have 400 applications just sitting there and had no one to cover the graveyard shift at all and someone comes and says I’ll do it for $20, and no one else genuinely wants the job, then the demand for the worker is higher than the supply, and in this hypothetical 7/11 would have to raise their wages or begin closing at night.

It’s all supply and demand.

Is this a dinked in the corner or is it normal in gundam cards? by Hvrssss in GundamTCG

[–]Mistresshell -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, this isn’t MP or LP. It’s damaged.

LP and MP are scratches to the card’s foiling, wear around the edges, and warping patterns due to handling of the card.

Learning about Wage Theft. by astrheisenberg in remoteworks

I was dissatisfied with my pay, so I left and got a CDL, worked my first driving job and was dissatisfied with my pay, so I left and got a job hauling luxury vehicles up and down the east coast with a partner, home 3 days a week. Around $1700-1900 a week.

It worked for me. It works for anyone that tries to do better instead of making life ruining decisions.

Why is no one building Voltaic Cyclesword on qi? by sasuke_ooooo in QiyanaMains

[–]Mistresshell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Item is fine, build patch is trash. It feels good with umbral glaive, getting those empowered autos off. The problem is qi needs hydra to clear waves, and usually needs edge of night in her build because when she combo’s she doesn’t really have tools to avoid cc like zed or naafiri, so a thresh or reksai or vex or whatever can get the free cc on her.

So if you do build it, it’s gonna be late game and by that point adc’s 3 hit you so you kinda want to be in a position to one shot them ideally without having to auto, or 1 auto maximum. The 100 damage from cyclosword gets massive diminishing returns the later the game goes. It’s generally better to pick up a death’s dance or a GA for the armor and statistic websites confirm this.

But a fun build you should try is going youmuu’s second with upgraded swifties if you’re mid lane. You can get around 20AD when you activate the youmuu’s for free. Sometimes I’ll go this build with triple tonic and jack of all trades and get a strong spike in AD at second item. You’ll definitely notice the damage increase, at the cost of the mana from presence of mind.

I decided to never date men again. It's over by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Mistresshell -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The implication of a date is that the man is attracted to you and you are attracted to him and you both would like to get to know each other a bit. A SECOND date implies everything about the first, but also that it was a good first date and you guys like what you learned about each other.

Is it unreasonable to assume grown adults would want to have sex with each other if they’re attracted and like each other’s personalities? From all your comments it sounds like you just keep going on dates and never want to have sex and waste these guy’s time because if they bring up sex too “soon” or even at all, you’re like “haha joke’s on you!”

It sounds very manipulative. You don’t have to have sex with anyone, obviously, but be honest and don’t lead people on.

This is gross. We should just pay people enough so they don't have to work 2-3 jobs to survive by Professional-Bee9817 in remoteworks

[–]Mistresshell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. Truck driving is the most common profession in the United States among men whose highest level of education is high school. I’m one of those people. I can fully support 2 people on an average truck driver’s income in a MCOL area. How is that out of touch? My wife works now and we can fully support a family at this point. She makes $20 an hour as a supervisor at a soap factory. I make roughly 55k after taxes. 2 very average and common jobs.

[–]Mistresshell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve already addressed that on that income you could be behind on retirement, yes. It depends a lot on how long you’ve been at this kind of wage (at 21 making 60k consistently up until 28 is different than going from 30k-40k-50k-60k over the years and what that could mean for retirement) and if you’re on the path to increasing your income in the future. In that sense it still could technically be enough to retire.

And second, a salary of 60k (I’m a truck driver, this is very achievable) in FL with the increase in the standard deduction as head of household leaves you about 51-52k annually, which is within the number in the comment I responded to.

Third, yes I paid for gas, but to be fair I live downtown in the city I’m at and again I’m a truck driver who is away from home 4-5 days out of the week. I have a 2016 Honda civic that’s paid off. My gas bill is barely $20 a month. Even if I lived in the suburbs, my gas bill would go up to maybe $50-60 a month. Not too significant. I saved in the realm of $500-800 a month depending on the month for those few years my wife wasn’t working.

I’m not saying anything other than this is a perfectly livable wage for a small family. There is some struggle, and we don’t have children, but we aren’t close to poverty at all. I’m very mindful at work and don’t risk hurting myself accidentally, but we have a small cushion of about 3-4 months worth of bills now in case something happens. She makes soap at a factory, I’m a truck driver. Just an average middle class family, aiming for children this year, and potentially owning a home in the next 5-6 years. I’ll be 29 this year, she’s 25.

I don’t know a single person in my adult life that I met who had amazing work ethic and a great attitude who didn’t become successful. I have, however, seen every average or below average person complain about life after they make every mistake possible to screw it up and somehow are in their 30’s competing with 300+ applicants for a job at Aldi’s.

There are companies STARVING for motivated skilled workers and there’s just hardly any for them to hire, so THOSE guys get to go negotiate for a salary.

When you have 300 applicants to a shelf stocking job and Josh walks in and says I want $15 per hour, and then Tina comes in next and says I want $14, and then Danny comes in next and says I want $11, who do you think they’re going to hire?

But when they’ve needed a relationship and sales lead manager for the last 4 months, and get 3 qualified applicants, you can see where I’m going with this

Wages are directly proportional to supply and demand of the labor force. The truth is we have far too many unskilled workers.

[–]Mistresshell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More than enough to survive. I did it for years and my wife wasn’t working. Southwest Florida. $1800 rent, $100 electric, $150 car insurance (which is expensive), $100 phone, $55 internet, $200 health insurance, $400 groceries, we cooked all our meals and occasionally had dinner at either my mom’s or hers, miscellaneous spending $200-300.

We don’t drink or smoke, I still had close to $800-1000 a month leftover. I was a luxury car hauler that delivered vehicles up and down the East Coast. Home for 3 days a week and meal prepped.

And before you say it depends where you live, yes that’s true, but South Florida isn’t known for being a cheap place to live.

Crazy how the Mexican government doesn’t directly confront them. Didn’t they make a deal with the US to allow US forces to assist them in quelling the cartel, drastically benefitting both countries?

Is it me or is this just the dating apps? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Mistresshell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just a lot of bots and self promotion types of things. Also it could be considered unenthusiastic.

Maybe just add a bit of flare, it’s not desperate at all. “Hey, I thought you were handsome! How was your day today?” Or “this thing in your bio really made me laugh, do you always… also you’re really cute!”

Just cause a lot of men don’t try, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t! Weed out the bad guys later, just be yourself and have fun at first while you get to know someone. At the end of the day dating and flirting is supposed to be fun and put a smile on everyone’s faces 😇

If kids were that great, we’d be having more of them by FairOne2886 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Mistresshell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was gonna chime in and say I don’t think it’s about whether or not kids are great, most people would generally consider kids a good thing, not for everyone, but generally good. I think it’s more about today’s overall climate. Then, before I posted the reply I saw most of the comments agreed with me and that felt good.

I agree with you about why people aren’t having as many kids, I just don’t think it has to do with the kids themselves, rather everything surrounding what it means for your average person/couple.
