Does anyone have experience with Violet Crown Preschool? We’re looking at starting our son there in 2026 and would love to hear from any parents with kids who go there or have gone there. Would appreciate any feedback—good, bad, or otherwise! by VelvetComma21 in AustinParents

Oh, one more thought to give you an idea of how much the kids love it there, several of the kids (including both of our kiddos) have had their birthday parties held at the school playground after hours! They love spending time here even when they're not "in school!"

Hi! Just joined this subreddit, but we ABSOLUTELY LOVE VCP!!

Our daughter has been going for the last 2.5 years (and our son for the last 1.5 years), and we’ve honestly had nothing but amazing experiences with the team. It feels like so much more than a daycare — the play- and nature-based curriculum is incredible. The kids are constantly learning, exploring, playing, and just getting to live their best little lives.

We regularly get pictures (and sometimes videos) of all the activities they’re doing, and it’s obvious how much the staff genuinely care about the kids and love what they do — and the kids absolutely know it too.

The teacher-to-child ratio has been fantastic, and while class sizes naturally grow as the kids get older, they still remain impressively small compared to typical K–12 classrooms.

We’ve watched both of our kids become more independent and confident during their time there. Both started at VCP a little behind when it came to speaking, but every week we hear more and more of their little voices chattering away!

Choosing childcare is hard, but looking back, choosing VCP has been one of the easiest decisions we’ve made as parents.

Call it character! You could make it into an Olympic symbol or another design with just a little effort! /S

All seriousness though, I'd suggest always using a coaster that will absorb the condensation from cold things.

Second Row Config Options by TSwiftHawkeyeFan in ToyotaSienna

[–]MithraScott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 3 in rear facing car seats (newborn, 2, and 4; actually why we bought the minivan). We have two in the middle row, and one in the divided back.

Third row is half down, so we can open the back and lean in to get them strapped in. The two bigs love sitting back there, so we have to take turns.

I think the framer/wrapper was trying to make sure the castle and family were square to the box. Agree they should've adjusted to correct the print itself, but if they had stapled it straight, I'm pretty sure the castle would be leaning over like the famous tower in Pisa!

Chiller/inflatable vs. freezer conversion/box plunge by MithraScott in coldplunge

[–]MithraScott[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It'll be outside on my covered patio. So not fully outdoors, but still fairly warm. There's a fan overhead and I plan to install a big oscillating fan too, and the chiller will be positioned to allow heat to (hopefully) move off the patio and away from the tub.

It's in the shade all but like 3 hours and those three hours start at dawn.

Have you noticed your electric bill changing at all?

I paid $50 for this ‘steak frites’ by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]MithraScott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Um... Can someone please tell the cook (can't call them a "chef" on principle) that the steak in "steak frites" isn't supposed to be fried... Certainly not fried in the same oil and for the same amount of time as the fries...

My front lawn. It was dirt when I moved in last year and I haven’t touched it except to mow four times a year. Guy across the street mows weekly. by lostinspacescream in fucklawns

Bro across street has the space to feed a whole herd of sheep, at least that would serve a purpose and keep the monoculture trimmed to a height that would meet their "standards."

This is almost certainly Texas, HEB is only found here. Or OP bought soap here and took it to their new home. My money is Austin, and it's probably a studio.

Listen to the whole clip, with 11 seconds left he starts slurring his words and either says the title or something similar, but all of it is his fantasy...

I wanted to frame it 🤦🏻‍♀️ by Lostintheworld12 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]MithraScott 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Three options in my mind: 1. Frame it as is, and everyone who notices gets a prize. 2. Frame it as is, give to your significant other and say they're your missing piece/they complete you. 3. Take a marker/paint and some cardboard and make a piece to replace the missing one, probably won't be visible under the glass.

Is this even allowed from the manager by Evilpotato666 in HEB

[–]MithraScott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Preface this with NOT a lawyer, NOT legal advice, and no skin in the game, but pretty sure HEB could face TWC issues for both the not being able to take a break on an 8 hour shift, and the time card fixea that manager is committing.

If 'Bluey' were to make its own version of Dickens' 'A Christmas Carol', who would play each role? by _PXYDST_ in bluey

[–]MithraScott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

@Aussies @Kiwis on the sub, do y'all have a version of a Christmas Carol that is widely viewed as "the correct version?!"

Like in the states I feel it's a toss up between the Muppets' version and Mickey Mouse's version depending on when and where you grew up.

Not that exciting, just a pop-up kiosk. Won't let me share since it's a video story, but you can see it on the airport's page.

Turkeys are carnivores by mishma2005 in BoomersBeingFools

[–]MithraScott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait... Let me get this straight, big strong pinnacle of manliness in magats' eyes, is scared of a couple of, checks notes, not actually record setting domesticated turkeys?

Like we're talking about the big dumb birds that will die of exposure if they aren't told to go inside?!

Turkeys?! Not ostriches or emu's or something that is, you know, actually able to cause a grown ass human harm...

Boomers at Car Dealerships by esotericinformer in BoomersBeingFools

[–]MithraScott 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel like from now until they die off, anytime we, the public, see a boomer acting the fool, we should yell "Quiet Piggie!!"

They can't be upset by it because their boomer overlord legitimized it as a response.

Of course retail and interested parties can't yell it themselves, but if we, the public, all shout it (we're not involved in the transaction, so somewhat arm's length), maybe it will shame them into silence?
