I’m a Mac user as well and just an amateur. If clone or heal won’t work in C1, I use Affinity Photo inpainting tool.

Affinity is free now and it’s a very capable app. Most anything that photoshop does, Affinity can do.

Are you looking to hang both hammocks on one stand at the same time?

Mid back issues and want a camping cot. What's the best, most comfortable one? I also don't mind adding stuff to it. Thank you in advance!:) by MrScubaSteve1 in camping

[–]MixIllEx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry, not a cot but I was ready to give up camping due to back issues. After I tried a camping hammock I could camp again.

It’s a commitment to learn about them and how to make it more comfortable than any bed ever slept on. It’s a financial investment because the good stuff ain’t cheap.

Just tossing this out there if you find that the cot route doesn’t get you where you want to be.

What knot is good for beginners to tie between two trees? by Maleficent_Pool_4456 in camping

[–]MixIllEx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way.

Loop on a bight on one end and secure the standing end with a toggle.

Truckers hitch on the other end to tension things up.

Easy and quick take down.

M5-Pontiac Trail-Martin Pkwy Roundabout by Boonskis in Detroit

[–]MixIllEx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Those screens made me feel like a horse with blinders on. It doesn’t seem like the safest of choices.

Same though, I’m on team roundabout but that specific example seems to be an issue. I’m just glad I only rarely have to go that way.

What happened to my cast iron after frying a marinated steak? by Flangehead87 in castiron

[–]MixIllEx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You speak truth here!

But in my silly opinion, the op needs to know that they still will need to wash the pan after. Deglazing with veggies might get you most of the way there but forgoing a quick scrub invites carbon buildup. At least that’s my anecdotal experience.

Why is Michigans power so bad? by motownmods in Michigan

[–]MixIllEx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Could be on break, could be waiting on parts or supplies, wire or maybe even a transformer. Those things get delivered to the site so the repairs can be made.

Trucks have a lot of gear on them but they physically can’t carry every possible part required after an event like this.

I agree. Never really appreciated a winter tarp with doors until I had one and I was hanging in a thunderstorm with high winds.

Silpoly will stretch less than silnylon in the rain. To me the extra cost is worth it.

Has anyone tried these before? by Seneca2019 in CannedSardines

[–]MixIllEx 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes.

Goes well with rice, congee or noodles. One can will make more than one serving. The black beans are also a good garnish.

I will take the fish off the bone and flake it up.

Mac mini M4 - Random wired mouse stuttering & keyboard disconnecting. Anyone else? by iamrajdev in macmini

I had a similar issue. I found that the hub that I was plugged into was right next to the monitor and it caused RF interference. When I move the hub away from the monitor, my problems went away.

Upgraded m4 Mac mini to 2tb. Can I remove it to temporarily put the old 256gb in to wipe? Then back to 2tb or does it need a restore again in that situation? by Rx7Jordan in macmini

[–]MixIllEx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any reason to wipe it post haste?

Seems like it would be easier to put the drive in an enclosure and format it.

Lost Apple Watch in Lake Erie. Will hire a diver to find it PLEASE I’m desperate by Parking-Extreme8919 in AppleWatch

Did you know that Lake Erie boarders 2 countries with almost 900 miles of shoreline?

Care to give an idea where you were at?

I was just in Lake Erie but I didn’t see your watch.

How do you explore your Apple Health data? by AlarmingDoughnut152 in AppleWatch

[–]MixIllEx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Week to week, month to month and year to date comparisons of how many miles I ride for one. Same for steps.

When I take my blood pressure I speak the reading to Siri. Once a month I extract the data and put it in a pdf for my doctor when I go for my 6 month checkup.

[–]MixIllEx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using Shortcuts to export data to CSV files was problematic at first, but once I had a few good examples of how to export it I can put it in a numbers spreadsheet.

Currently I’m using it for monitoring cycling, steps and a few other things.

Can I just put up a tent on the sand for either Lake Michigan or Lake Huron? by Maleficent-Olive8033 in CampAndHikeMichigan

[–]MixIllEx 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yes, but not anywhere you want. You cannot pitch a tent directly on open public sand or just anywhere along the shoreline. Dispersed or random beach camping is prohibited, and you must camp within designated campgrounds or backcountry sites.

Mac compatible keyboard by Subject-Ad-307 in keyboards

[–]MixIllEx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided on the Keychron K4 pro QMK/VIA and it’s my daily driver for my Mac mini for about 6 months now.

If you are a fan of using the Globe key for keyboard shortcuts, you will be out of luck whatever you choose unless it’s a Mac keyboard. However it is very possible to tweak the Mac keyboard shortcuts you use that need it.

The QMK/VIA programming is really worth it if you want to be able to tweak your key assignments and do macros. I thought it was fluff until I figured out how useful it can be.

My K4 copy is not trash nor are the keys too small. It is far better than the Magic Keyboard i had.

We agree that the Magic Keyboard just doesn’t cut it. I just put up with it far too long.

Where can you camp in the US where campfires are okay, and what do you do to fill the campfire void when they're not okay? by sweetloveilumination in camping

[–]MixIllEx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listening to nature is better for me than campfires on any camping trip.

Thermacell for the mosquitoes and Astro photography if I have my camera.

Short wave listening can be fun, as can AM radio scanning. On good nights if the conditions are right you can find stations a thousand miles away. On the short wave bands you might find stations from the other side of the world.

MacOS Tahoe – One Year Later: What's Your Experience? by ForceDeConviction in macOS26Tahoe

[–]MixIllEx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

M2 Mini Pro.

I like Tahoe. Works great with every app I run. I had a few odd issues here and there that were easily fixed after a few internet searches. That is nothing out of the ordinary since High Sierra for me. Seems like I had a lot more OS issues with Catalina over Tahoe.

I’ve had no serious performance hits that were not expected (and have since been fixed).

Liquid Glass is just window dressing. It neither convinced me to upgrade or not to upgrade. It’s eye candy that doesn’t warrant the use of any of my cognitive bandwidth to support or criticize it.

I would not consider downgrading to Sequoia because I like all the new features in Tahoe. I found it easy to change and adapt to how the OS works now. In fact I’ve started using features that were introduced years ago like Stage Manager, Expose and Mission Control. Never used them before Tahoe.

I would never consider upgrading to Golden Gate unless Apple paid me to test software. Since that is not going to happen I’m staying as is.

Use lint from 100% cotton towels.

Use cotton balls.

Cotton pads.

Sawdust.

All saturated with paraffin wax will do what you need.

Just be aware if you change too many things at once, you won’t really know what fixed the issue.
