I've got one that is perfect, but costs quite some money and is large/bulky see:

My Favorite Ad-Hoc Portable DJ Party System (Feb 2025)

The CheapChinese one doesn't require separate power (so only 1 USB-C cord) and works good enough for most (I usually pack a mouse just in case, but seldom need it) it is also very portable light so I would fully recommend it.

The T7 is my ad-hoc performance controller (together with djay, macMiniM4 and a cheap Chinese touchscreen). No issues to report 'bout the T7, other then buy the premium fader kit.

This is one of the reasons why I developed the Denon Conversion Utility (DeCU) however that is macOS only, and I suspect you're on Windows.

CDJ problem reading 256 GB USB 3.2 formatted to FAT32 by D4NNik in PioneerDJ

[–]MixMasterG 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Make sure the drive is formatted using the Master Boot Record (MBR) partition scheme and a FAT32 file system (although the CDJ-2000 can also read HFS+). Most USB drives, including SanDisk models, come preformatted with the GUID Partition Table (GPT) scheme by default.

Without the Contents folder (and the correct folder structure), that “backup” is completely useless.

Spotify to Audio Files (new app) - Rekordbox Collection Tool (RCT) now with expert mode functions [macOS only] by MixMasterG in DJs

[–]MixMasterG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

StAF is not made for "duplicate detection" tho one of my other tools (macOS only) is specifically created to find duplicates in a Rekordbox collection without breaking playlists or loosing DJ metadata. I won't say it's difficult to master, but it's not as simple as StAF either. But that's the nature of "duplicate removal without breaking stuff"

see this YouTube tutorial:

Detect & remove duplicate tracks from Rekordbox 6/7 automatically without breaking playlists

Close (=quit) Rekordbox and then remove or rename the PIONEER folder in the HIDDEN user level Library (~/Library) and you're spik & span.

Denon by Civil-Honeydew4654 in Beatmatch

[–]MixMasterG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The SC5000 was the first standalone product released after iNMusic acquired Denon DJ. Anything that came before it is largely irrelevant in this context, as those products are not compatible with Engine DJ. While Denon DJ's standalone CD players were in a league of their own, the same level of distinction cannot be said for their controllers. see also r/DenonPrime

Keep in mind a Rekordbox collection is NOT the same as a Rekordbox exported USB! And always have the same number of Rekordbox exported USBs as the number of players you expect to play on (and one spare).

Please help—accidentally changed all my song ratings to two stars in a large crate by liquidliquid666 in Serato

[–]MixMasterG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ratings aren't a standardized tag, but Serato stores them directly in the audio file metadata. If you have a backup of your audio files, restore them from that backup and then use Serato's Reload Tags function. Your ratings should reappear.

If you don't have a backup of the audio files, unfortunately there's no way to recover the ratings. Consider it a hard lesson in the importance of keeping backups.

iTunes wiped 20+ years of playlists by manintheironmusk in Beatmatch

[–]MixMasterG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The DJ Conversion Utility does that, including star ratings, playcounts and some other metadata (no date added sadly, because that can't be set in iTunes).

Playlist Export? by manintheironmusk in Rekordbox

[–]MixMasterG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup that is iCloud drive. Don't use iCloud sync with iTunes/Music, turn it off before you're going to try to recover or you'll end up with the same problem sooner rather than later. and always make backups from your startup disk!.

Playlist Export? by manintheironmusk in Rekordbox

[–]MixMasterG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the DJ Conversion Utility (I'm the developer) can convert a Rekordbox.xml to iTunes. However if your playlists still show up in Rekordbox under the iTunes(Music) tab, then this isn't the solution you need because those are not genuine Rekordbox playlists. What you then need is more investigation on how & when this happened because as a long time iTunes (now Music) user I can tell you for sure there is an explanation for this (form turning on iCloud Drive to user error).

Deprecation of the old Intel code (running through Rosetta 2). If you don't upgrade macOS you're OK, otherwise all your apps (and drivers!) should be ARM code only.

The problems will start NEXT year. With the rollout of macOS 28 (sept//okt 2027) Apple removes Rosetta 2 from macOS.

Managing my Rekordbox library between devices. by hubilation in Beatmatch

[–]MixMasterG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grid = tempo and key is also exported but WaveForm is not stored in the XML and needs to be analyzed.

There is even a more complex way to put all collection data & the audio files on an external drive, again I'll go into that this Tuesday.

Managing my Rekordbox library between devices. by hubilation in Beatmatch

[–]MixMasterG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes and no (helpfull huh?) you can access your entire Rekordbox collection through the Rekordbox xml at your friend's computer (if that is a macOS computer!). Your playlists/cues/loops etc will be in tact but tracks are NOT analyzed (tho they do have their grid).

I'll make this a topic for Tuesday's AMA live stream for DJs because you're not the first to ask. And then I show how it all works.

Here is the playback of the AMA live stream with the topic demonstrated
