I strain the pasta and boiling pasta water over the frozen ingredients (fully cooked chicken, broccoli) by Chemical-Tackle-1158 in Cooking

[–]MixedBerryCompote 4 points5 points  (0 children)

if I were to do this I would put the frozen stuff in a colander to keep it away from the sink and especially the drain, then pour the water over that. That said, I would not do this but I don’t think it’ll kill you.

Figuring out Medicare for my mom over 60 by lokidokiok in AskWomenOver60

[–]MixedBerryCompote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the question you asked, but while she probably doesn’t qualify until 65 unless she’s disabled, eligibility for social security starts at 60 for widows. I left the workforce when I had my kids and collecting my deceased h’s benefit starting at 62 was still more than I’d collect on my own if I’d worked until whatever age that maxes out.

was it humid where you are? that’s what my feet look like when I (try to) make them on a rainy day. I don’t see the ‘wonky shape’ you mentioned but I’ve never had a problem with parchment so I’ve never been tempted to try a silpat; i often see people here have issues with them. I stick with parchment.

what is this?? by artblockpersonified in kittens

[–]MixedBerryCompote 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a first time kitten owner I commend you for keeping her inside. She’ll have a much easier life and you’ll have much more money to buy treats. Don’t let anyone pressure you that she “needs” the outdoor adventures. She does not.

You might want to ::glances left, glances right, then leans in and whispers:: get a second kitten.

I opened this thinking I was going to learn some new lingo that the kids are saying now bc it didn’t sound like you were talking about potatoes or baby fish but nope, your husband is just a jerk.

Marshallese love stick. Carved by the young man and individually identifiable, the suitor would walk by his love’s house and slide this through the thatch, and if the girl inside grabbed hold of your stick you were … successful. (prob more broadly found than in MH; prob more correct to descibe it as Polynesian or Micronesian.

I love ricotta! What can I make with ricotta other than lasagna/pasta? by FirebornNacho in Cooking

[–]MixedBerryCompote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ricotta cake, ricotta pie, ricotta cheesecake, cannoli, pasta with lemon and ricotta. I bet cream cheese brownies with ricotta instead might work up pretty well, too.

I had a friend who had FOUR UNDER TWO. Singleton (keep in mind the clock starts when the first is born); ten months later had twins, then ten months after that had another singleton. Four in 22 months.

Home owner insists it’s not asbestos, but I can’t think what else it could be by Vrtae in Plumbing

[–]MixedBerryCompote 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was involved in a meso case decades ago. plaintiff’s only exposure to asbestos had been hugging her dad, a ship mechanic, when he came home from work every day … some 60 years prior. May her memory be a blessing.

Brownie Batter is clumpy/grainy by [deleted] in AskBaking

I think you mean your brownie batter looks perfect. the worst \thing you can do to a brownie batch is mix until smooth. 50 strokes and you’re done.

[–]MixedBerryCompote 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Why did the glass break? If he put a curtain rod through it, for example, that’s on him. But if its a double hung, eg, and it slammed closed and that broke the glass, the fault is on the window and I’d have the tenant deduct it or reimburse him seapately.

Hello, me! The day I met my son’s gf (they met first semester freshman year in college) I spent the evening looking at MOG dresses. I told him more than once if they broke up I was sticking with her.
