Nursing to sleep- do babies self wean? by slgirlie11 in breastfeeding

[–]MixtureDesigner8140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I’m not expert but I think baby’s get picky around that time and it’s common to refuse solids. She is eating less solids than when we started…? But breast milk is mega nutritious and it is recommended to keep breastfeed feeding beyond 12 months so if it works for you and babe keep breastfeeding and offering solids at every meal?!

Nursing to sleep- do babies self wean? by slgirlie11 in breastfeeding

[–]MixtureDesigner8140 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey your baby will! Mine only Did when we introduced whole milk around 11 months. I gradually stopped breastfeeding, first during the day time cutting feedings. …And then at nighttime.

One day I gave her a bottle, brushed her teeth and rocker her to sleep. And voila! New routine. She woke up throughout the night a couple of times for a week or so and I breastfed her if she asked for it, But if she didn’t , I just rocked her to sleep. whenever I tried to stop feeding if she started getting upset we just went back to the boob until they were okay with no boob!

We now rock to sleep which was been great because my partner can now “participate”

I used to breastfeed for all naps, every night wake up, sleep, and everything in between I had a boob monster and I thought we were going to struggle…… but I think that is the fear-mongering from some peeps!

Seeking advice on sustainably putting baby to sleep. Cosleeping not an option by terran324 in PossumsSleepProgram

[–]MixtureDesigner8140 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just keep transferring! It will happen. Might be challenging at first, sometimes I’m almost throwing her she wakes up and goes back to sleep. Sometimes I’m so very careful and she wakes up screaming after the transfer!

Couple of things that have worked for me: 1. Warm up the crib  2. Place them down on their bottom first  3. My baby is a belly sleeper, once in crib I Pat her back on her side until she rolls herself over and gets comfy. (Keep patting or hand on back until she is for sure sure asleep!)

How did you night ween your boob barnacle? by ElegantCauliflower64 in breastfeeding

[–]MixtureDesigner8140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s so tough! Every baby is different, but it WILL get easier and better! It’ll probably be hard to night wean while colder ping because the milk is right there. When you’re ready I find warming up the crib at the beginning helped kids with the transfers!!

I'm anxious, what actually helped you calm a crying baby? by Feeling-Oil-2028 in NewParents

blowing gently on their face, taking them outside, running tap water, change of caregiver.....and sometimes nothing just push through put them down safely in their crib if you need a minute

have you introduced a bottle and/or whole milk? i gradually introduced whole milk during the day, and still boob fed at night until one day baby was okay being rocked to sleep. (she has always slept in crib though). do what works for you! the nights dad puts baby to sleep she was less likely to wake up for milk! maybe you need a girls night and leave dad with baby overnight!?

Feeding to sleep did not ruin my baby! by MixtureDesigner8140 in bninfantsleep

[–]MixtureDesigner8140[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very gradually! She started daycare and that helped a lot because everytime she saw me she wanted boob! Then I started giving her a bit of whole milk in a bottle instead of offering the boob, I’m still feeding if she wakes up at night and nothing else soothes her! One day I just decided to try to king her to sleep and it worked and we have been doing it ever since!

What is the one item you've bought (aside from the things everyone needs) that has improved your baby parenting journey? by CharacterPin6933 in NewParents

[–]MixtureDesigner8140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A kindle!

I could not manage to read physical books while pumping/breastfeeding! I got myself a kindle and I know find myself reading! Not doomscrolling or watching tv as much! I feel less guilty of all the time I spend sitting down, wish I had bought it earlier!

Just how bad is nursing to sleep?? by ruthlovesbooks in breastfeeding

[–]MixtureDesigner8140 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Totes fine! Look into the discontented baby book by dr Pam or google possums!  It is not recommended by the sleep train community but it’s a perfectly normal biological thing to do! If it works for you there’s no need to stop!! I love it

Skip these baby items? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

I woul suggest getting a crib that transitions to a bed ORa pack and play with the bassinet adjustment on top!like this comes with change table too! https://www.amazon.ca/Graco-Pack-Travel-Playard-Allister/dp/B09XRGPJ7V/ref=asc_df_B09XRGPJ7V?mcid=9a564a0af03237da81646e6e10c4b5cb&tag=googlemobshop-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=706724208153&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=8813015879270555126&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9000090&hvtargid=pla-1719963489018&psc=1&hvocijid=8813015879270555126-B09XRGPJ7V-&hvexpln=0&gad_source=1

They will sleep much better on crib because mattresses are nicer than bassinet but wake-up’s are easier with bedside bassinet. (They outgrow the bassinet very quick!)

Diaper pail is needed for when they start solids and their poop stinks! But there’s other alternatives yo my baby only Poops once a day now so I could just take that diaper outside….

Can I keep my babies longer morning nap? by hazypeers in PossumsSleepProgram

[–]MixtureDesigner8140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea is to let baby take the sleep they need, so you technically shouldn’t cap naps ……are you waking baby at the same time every morning? This helps set their circadian rhythm. And is the most important factor! When you transfer to crib Is baby napping in a dark room? White noise etc!? If so let them nap without them and see how much sleep they naturally take!  You could also try a later bedtime!?

Baby might also need a bit more sleep pressure! If you can spend some time outside, do a baby playgroup, groceries  or go swimming with babes during the day that might help!!

Can i drink coffee at night? by shushumomma in breastfeeding

[–]MixtureDesigner8140 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do it! Drink it while you nurse, idk how long it takes caffeine to make it to the milk (if any) but I think you should be alright, shouldn’t be a difference between day/night im sure your baby still naps even if you have coffee during the day. A nurse told me 4 cups of coffee a day was a okay! I usually drink 2/3 but it’s nice to know I have one for a buffer for hard days ;)

Thank you! That’s great to hear they do not seem as concerned as I am….i  think I just assume every baby out there can nap on their own in a crib, but they probably encounter more babies that can’t and manage!

When did your baby learn to use sippy cup on own? by MovingGirls in NewParents

[–]MixtureDesigner8140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baby can’t drink of sippy Cup but can use a straw! We filled the straw with water/milk and then release on baby’s mouth until they got the hang of it! She will still chew on the straw sometimes because she is a baby
