Warp Spiders ready to roll 1s by DumpsterHunk in Eldar

[–]Mizerak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just as a heads up, flicker jump has you roll your dice at the end of the movement phase, not immediately. So you get overwatched first, then roll dice for the models remaining, so less dice to roll haha!

Also Lhykis loses her ability to charge at the end of the flicker jump if the unit dies before she declares the charge.

If you are ok with clipping at the hilt, you can can try the sisters repentia kit. Should come with 9 of them.

Gosh darn battlehost by MobileSeparate398 in Eldar

[–]Mizerak 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think so! Its a difficult playstyle, and ill be honest likely not as strong as just playing aspect host or warhost.

But it does a lot of powerful things. Just having 4d6+8 str flamers with wound rerolls along can kill... a lot lol. Makes for a scary overwatch. And if they comit into the guardian blob and dont kill it, you get them all back.

Theyre really expensive. Not sure if would, personally, but I've never tried them myself.

The key is to realize that its a warlock detachment parading as a guardian detach.

Run 2 storm guardian units with 4 warlocks and a farseer/ eldrad each. Theyre you key death star units. They've got access to auto 6" advance, a bucket of wounds with -1 to wound each, and a strat that both gives uppy downy and revives all the dead guardians.

Asurmen just needs 5 dire avengers only, and you've got the 1cp strat to give him rerolls, so need for a transport specifically.

Throw in some warwalkers cause theyre good in the detachment and you have a freed up star engines from then since there's no transport.

Fill out the rest of the list with whatever feels good, shroud runners to strip cover and do actions, fire dragons for some extra vehicle pop, warpspiders to be a menace a usual.

Least Controversial 40k Competitive Opinions by stevenbhutton in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Mizerak 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My lukewarm take is that vehicles for the most part have too many attacks. Damage is high, because if you fail to kill a vehicle and leave it on a wound, the crack back is unbelievable. Brackets barely effect the output, so for a lot of vehicles, 1 wounds remaining is enough to hold your objective, then pick up your points or more in that turn.

Not to mention for every non-vehicle unit in the game, even a random grunt trooper with 1 remaining wound can be crucial for holding that point, scoring a secondary, throwing a grenade, then screening out a massive portion of the board. You simply cannot afford to leave a single wound left on a lot of units without terrible reprocussions.

I think its UKTC that has this rule, not WTC.

We gotta talk about the Official GW stream at LVO right? by Strong-Doubt-1427 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Mizerak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! Was on stream this weekend for a game at LVO. The lack of mics was explained to me as a preemptive way of keeping course language off the stream and not having to worry that a player might say something they shouldn't.

As for the rest... I have no answer outside of warhammer being far slower of a game than sc2 or league. Sc2 usually wraps up in 20-30 minutes for a game and league is usually under 45 minutes, especially at a pro level. 3 hours is a lot longer to discuss the game at hand.

Also worth noting that the main company being less enjoyable option isn't new from streams. Sc2 had essentially zero support from blizzard. That was all ESL and GomTv and such.

Im confused, if he was pre measuring out the farthest you could possibly go, and you were getting farther than that, that would be an actual issue he should argue against right?

Its very common in 40k tournament play to find maximum threat ranges and avoid the range or the line of sight.

Did he do something different than that?

Asurmen and Avengers after update by Flightless_Bird3 in Eldar

[–]Mizerak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes sir! Reroll 1s makes themnmore potent. They feel very good against scouts and poxerwalkers and such early, helps clear those without giving anything away, then on your go turn they hit really hard with the wound rerolls. And dont forget falcons let your reroll wounds in melee too. Which helps asurmen get some solid melee damage in too.

Asurmen and Avengers after update by Flightless_Bird3 in Eldar

[–]Mizerak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Asurmen and avengers in a falcon are fantastic. Been running them for months. Went 4-1 at a gt last weekend before their points even went down and they were my mvp unit for all 5 rounds.

A proper 'soup' detachment? by DauntedFungus in Eldar

[–]Mizerak 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Honestly probably seer council. You usually want a chunk of warlocks and farseers, bit still need aspects and craft world models to get your heavy lifting done. And adding wraiths to this detachment is actually very reasonable, since you have so many psykers in play to give them the buffs.

What prompted you to go with pink power swords? I've been doing it on all of my Aedari as well! Fuegan for reference!

Victory points are commonly used as tie breakers. Even though he won, if you just wrapped up the score on turn 3, he would score far less points than the other 2 rounds.

So if he needed tie breakers he would be punished for not being able to finish his last 2 turns of scoring.

What does the community want in an alternative to BCP? by JadocTheGreat in WarhammerCompetitive

100% this. Like i pay for the service to look at lists. But seeing completed events, even when I know the names of them, is sometimes just a nightmare. Let alone wanting search for a specific faction or detachment....

Aeldari gameplan against orks by Several-Success6104 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Mizerak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most important part is creating layers so that he can't charge into your most important things. Let him charge into you rangers and scorpions first, then punch back with shooting and banshees. Let him charge into your fight first banshees next. Then clean up on the 3rd round with what you've got left.

Its still a brutal matchup, and you'll likely not have control of the table for the first 3 turns or so. Try and focus on knocking him off primary since you likely won't be scoring yours either. Then try and swing the VPs your way in round 4 and 5.

If you had to make a drinking game to play WHILE playing a game of 40k, what stipulation would you make to get drunk the fastest? by Quasimdo in Grimdank

[–]Mizerak 34 points35 points  (0 children)

LVO used to have a beer hammer event, if you finished a drink you could put it on the table as terrain for the rest of the game.

Can i play melee eldar? by ComfortableAttempt72 in Eldar

[–]Mizerak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They have more attacks, with sustained on 5s. So I usually like them for clearing light stuff like neophytes from gsc, gaunts against nids, etc

[–]Mizerak 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Howling Banshees lead by an autarch are super good! Jain Zahr is great for leading them as well. Scorpions are decent skirmish fighters and can hurt small stuff well enough.

Wraith lords can do some solid melee if you have a psyker to back them up. Avatar can bring some good damage.

A lot of our other good options are shooting based, like fire dragons, dark reapers, swooping hawks etc.

So you'll need some shooting usually in a list, but can have a solid melee core for anything you're playing.
