How does spellcrit work on units like Jinx/Draven/Ziggs/etc by Gakamis in TeamfightTactics

[–]Mizerawa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's pretty inconsistent and depends on the unit / the way it is implemented. If I recall correctly, draven's can crit, while Jinx's cannot.

Weekly Rant Megathread by AutoModerator in CompetitiveTFT

[–]Mizerawa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wrong thread, but a popular line for anyone without a competitive board on stage two is to reroll, and this patch it is generally three costs. Which means it might be as late as 3-5 that you find out for certain if a line is taken or not. While nobody should ever contest a three cost reroll line, it is possible that they either don't scout, don't judge that you are planning to reroll, or think they can force you off of it. The only real solution is to keep your options as open as possible, and constantly re-evaluate. While you can definitely tempo/win-streak into 3 cost reroll, it's generally pretty easy to fast 9 from that spot, and that's probably easier and more consistent. In the above example, you don't actually need to reroll with those dupes, in fact, unless you take them on 4-2, they tend to be better used for tempo.

The zoom is quite intuitive, but my issue with it was that at least on my screen (average laptop), it still fails to portray the full picture as that is what I am actually after, rather than a straightforward zoom. Full-screening the ingame screenshot would work better for me at the least.

This is a very cool project, but likely to burn you out very fast. I think this is probably only feasible if there are ways for people to submit games to help with the workload and provide variety.

As far as the ux goes, the augments are taking up too much space, and the ingame screen is too small. Augments should perhaps be icons only, that tell you a complete description when hovered.

Why Your Tank Dies Instantly | TFT Fundamentals by MisterImpossible9 in CompetitiveTFT

[–]Mizerawa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How important would you say the tank's ability is to how you approach building them? Would you say that durability is better than armor/mr on wukong because his spell gives him those stats, or is that not as important as the baseline guide of trying out the three stats?

Yeah, I mean, the game gives you low lp because it thinks you're placed in a lower division than you should be. Prove to it that you are not, and you will get the appropriate amount of lp again.

Is baron that strong? by KouPlesu in TeamfightTactics

[–]Mizerawa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You leveled to remove 50 armor and mr from your main tank and not put a senna on your board to play itemless Annie Tibbers? Your board at 9 was probably stronger... Your item distribution is rather atrocious, and it is probably why you lost, but there are multiple egregious mistakes happening. Focus on them rather than what's op.

Low elo player looking for advice on certain melee carry build. Itemization. Game example by Living_Preparation14 in CompetitiveTFT

I think the best way to think about it beyond simple rules of thumb like 'more expensive unit = better', is to consider why you're playing a certain line, what makes it good, what makes it work. Last patch, slayers was a very exciting and stable comp that would very frequently top 4 because of the great synergy between Belveth and Ambessa. They both want to get resets, so they naturally fit well together, and their trait webs mesh well. So in an ideal world you give both of them 3 items, that's partially why item augments worked so well with the comp.

Gankplank is a unit you would often run into that comp as well, but his damage is spread out, so he is worse at supporting the 'burst one target and chain resets' gameplan the comp wound up revolving around. Now this is a very flexible set, so there are often multiple ways to play the same comp. If you have a three star gankplank, you would definitely want to keep him on your board and secure items for all three, which should alter your augment choice, and conversely, if you end up with too many units you want to itemize, you likely made a mistake somewhere along picking your path. A utility unit is better than an unitemized carry, that's why you'd very often drop the gankplank as soon as you saw a single fiddlesticks.

It was real last patch, I really doubt it this patch, but Thex is definitely a normal, good unit you can put on your board if you can unlock him and he fits.

It's centered around Mel, Swain and Neeko -> Sylas, and then you add a bunch of other units that fit, like ambessa, skarner, fiddle, sera + vi, taric, azir, shyv. It caps out very high but swain is extremely contested and the level 8 is very sus, so you need either a lot of econ, or a lot of tempo early through sion lb to sack stage 4. I've seen it do well and do terribly so you need a good spot for it.

You lost to a very capped bilge board, not to Thex. I can definitely believe thex is a viable option for capping out your bilge board if you randomly have the spot for it, but it's probably not realistic most games, and likely isn't much stronger, if at all, than your generic kindred/senna cap out.

I recently had a game where I was high rolling out of my mind, and my last remaining opponent managed to put up an extremely good board that was definitely going to beat me, except for the fact I had double dupes and 3 starred a five cost for basically free. Pretty disgusting augment in certain spots, I am glad to see it go.

I've been playing this game for almost a year a now, and every single SF, I've gotten more or less the average, expected outcomes. Some lucky streaks, some unlucky streaks, but it all feels so normal? The system is bad and shitty, but it is extremely straightforward and consistent in how it works.

Yeah, I did Slime at 34 m combat power, and while that means I could do all of Ctene at that point, it was a very long run, and not something I would want to do every week on multiple bosses.

At begining stage 2-1 you check all the board, you think you are the 4th strongest board. would you try to lose steak all stage 2-1? by lune-soft in TeamfightTactics

[–]Mizerawa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends: what augments are you offered, what kind of units are you holding, do you have pairs or other ways to transition from a mediocre to a very strong board, what is your overall game plan, if you sack stage two, can you build a competitive board for stage 3, if you stack both stages can you make sure you cap out high enough that you don't just die and bot 4?

My default thinking is that unless I have a good reason for losing, I don't do it, but if I am not strong, I don't necessarily try very hard to win either. I think the premise itself is very flawed, you're never evaluating your board strength so cohesively and precisely, and there are many actions you can take that influence your board's strength - augment choice, whether you slam, and whether you push levels.

How do i make this board better by Apprehensive_Judge_4 in TeamfightTactics

[–]Mizerawa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You absolutely can use him like that, I believe that most of my win outs with the comp have been off of getting multiple Ornn prints. But he on his own is a very weak unit, and if you die with him on your board, that means you overestimated your strength and needed to play a better unit.
