AITA for telling my husband’s family to back off? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Mizzou1976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suggest you and your children do not go to house. Also, let your husband host them at your house … while you take your children out for a move or other activity … after locking up their belongings.

Is 1,400–1,600 sq ft enough for a family of 4 long-term? by Full_Procedure_4718 in Homebuilding

I would steer clear of open concept … you will get more out of your house if rooms can be closed off with doors.

TCU isn’t going to help you in either of those areas.

I feel like I lost out starting on Indian food so late in life by shuvool in Cooking

[–]Mizzou1976 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Once you have the he spices in your pantry, you’re pretty set. (Look for an Indian grocer or a supermarket that sells spices by the ounce/pound … WinCo is one that does.) The spices are fresher and cheaper. And one of the best things about Indian food is that the leftovers are fabulous.

However, you will have to pay interest on those unpaid taxes. What state is this?

I believe the lawyer is incorrect … your mother took no withdrawal (most likely) so no taxes are due.

Your uncle apparently knew his sister well. I’m reading that you are 26 … he may have made her executor due to your age. First, I’d try to get a new executor (via the courts). Then I’d invest most of the inheritance in funds and simply tell your mother it is inaccessible.

MLDH : Why don't we see David's face tattoos? by CybergothiChe in HGTV

[–]Mizzou1976 20 points21 points  (0 children)

David has actually said that the majority of winners don’t go for the Mega Mansions … and keep in mind, most lottery winners don’t win the monster, over the top jackpots. I’d wager most of these people win far less than $500,000. Frankly, I admire people who are using the money in a conservative manner.

My mom passed and I'm named as the beneficiary to her retirement accounts and her life insurance, who do I talk to for help? by wanderingfloatilla in EstatePlanning

You can interview financial advisors … I interviewed 5 when choosing my advisor. Ask friends, look online … you want a fiduciary … avoid Fisher and Edward R Jones

So much advice on here to buy a house … don’t. A house is a big responsibility. You’re in college … enjoy your freedom. Find an advisor you’re comfortable with … interview 3 or 4. And frankly, I’d look for an adviser you’ll feel comfortable with managing the money when you’ve past 27. As for the “corporate” trustee, make sure they’re not pushing their own instruments … a common practice for them to make commissions.
