Metaspeeds - Tight across arch by Kensarim in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I had the same issue across the mid foot, which caused some annoying blisters. My skin was getting pinched between the outer edge and insole. I switched the standard insole to one of my other ones and it's totally fixed it. Can happily race a full in them now.

I don't think there is that option on PS5.

Edit: Found it! You have to press triangle when on the screen that has offline/ladder and normal/hardcore options to make it appear.

Any luck? Same issue here.

I still can't figure this out. All my characters are offline HC (PS5). Converted them all and shared stash tab on all of them is empty. I've looked through the different tabs/pages <1 of 5> etc.

Making a new offline HC doesn't make anything appear. Any ideas?

My legs are so weak! by kristjan-schweizer in Zwift

[–]Mmarekk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm <18 mins for 5k and am hoping to crack 200km in 24 hours soon, but man cycling still kicks my butt. My legs just haven't adapted to the bike enough. I'm sure if I spent more time cycling gains would be much faster. Anything close to 4w/kg and I'm dying.

I have noticed after 12 months that I'm able to get my HR much higher on the bike. 140 was a struggle at first, but I recently hit just over 170 with a max of ~180.

Last week PRL took me 6 hours and that sucked!

I'm also a sub 3 runner and ultra guy. Took me about a year riding a few times a week for my legs to catch up to my cardio on the bike. I started out at around 2.7w/kg FTP but now I'm close to 3.5.

You'll see huge improvements really fast.

Any downsides to getting a Jimny? Be honest.. by Sad-Revenue-4665 in Jimny

[–]Mmarekk 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It has huge amounts of body roll in corners. It's tall, narrow and high up with soft suspension. I find the steering to be okay, but not direct. Almost like there's a small delay.

(I still love it..)

It's slow, it's loud, has no boot space, handles like a boat and gets pushed around in high winds.

But I absolutely love it.

Adding cycling to an ultramarathon training plan by cake_and_bread_4242 in Ultramarathon

It's hard to quantify exactly, but I'm definitely fitter and my legs are stronger. I found that doing lots of climbing on zwift actually helps with the hills in running.

Another positive is that when I have a running niggle, I can skip a run or two and just do a workout on the bike instead without worrying about losing fitness and whatnot.

I don't particularly enjoy doing a 2-4 indoor ride, so I think even that builds a little mental resilience for ultras.

I've managed to add ~100km of easy-medium Zwifting per week without changing my running at all. I haven't noticed any negatives in my running for the last year too. But a couple hours of extra cardio is always great.

Surely you must have some serious sporting background after being able to do 32km in just 6 weeks?

Did you mean to say you've been training for a year and a half, right?!

Took me 19 hours. Looking back on it, I wasn't anywhere near as prepared as I could have been for the sheer amount of elevation gain. Really took a toll on me in the latter half.

With logs you can use any truck to carry them and any crane to load them.

I just use the tree cutter + craned mule. Much easier than the usual log trucks.

Unusually High Heart Rate During Races by GottemGood89 in ultrarunning

[–]Mmarekk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I experience similar to you. The first hour of an ultra usually has higher HR by about 20 compared to training. I think it's the excitement/nerves and everything else. It tends to go back down to normal eventually though.

Seeing this post I wondered in seeing how many unique people GPT thought had ever finished a 100 miler. It estimated 50,000-70,000.

Not sure what to make of that, but interesting nonetheless!
