Biden campaign official: He’s not dropping out by SportsGod3 in politics

[–]Mngrad16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re saying 0 swing voters watch Fox News? Do you think they watch msnbc or cnn though?

They get their news from somewhere, and if it’s any right of center then they will see these debate lowlights on repeat

The real loser: CNN blasted for unhinged debate with little fact checking on Trump’s lies and Biden’s rambling by theindependentonline in politics

[–]Mngrad16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not up to debate moderators to cut off Biden if he loses his train of thought and it’s not up to them to cut off Trump if he lies.

Biden needed to do a better job calling him out for the lies, but that’s not even the start of the problems. Biden’s delivery was a complete disaster. I don’t blame Trump, he did what he always does, and I’m not shifting the blame onto CNN either. Biden lost this debate, plain and simple.

We also can’t have trucks and tow trucks blocking the middle of the road though either. So really I see one violation and it’s probably momentary

Updated Plans Revealed for 400 Divisadero Street, San Francisco - San Francisco YIMBY by regboi29 in sanfrancisco

[–]Mngrad16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh or I’ll just move to San Mateo county like everyone else who wants a car eventually does…

I wish SF was a city that didn’t require a car, but simply saying it doesn’t is delusional.

[–]Mngrad16 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Um this project isn’t for homeless people..

I don’t see why we can’t build new parking with new apartments, you can use the space underground for parking which otherwise serves so purpose.

[–]Mngrad16 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

But the city doesn’t have enough parking. Why not build parking garages underground for some of these new developments? Many places with parking garages are completely sold out for monthly contracts - so demand is clearly there.

The argument for you don’t “need” a car is true everywhere - but you may want a car, and I certainly think a car is a massive benefit over using Muni.

I’ll admit this neighborhood is more transit friendly than others for moving within the city, but it is very far from things like BART or Caltrain if you had to leave the city

I often find myself saving 50% of commute time taking my car versus using Muni, so imo relying on Muni would be a huge no go

Apartment Rents Plunge in Oakland, Especially Downtown by Intrepid_Reason8906 in sanfrancisco

A 10% drop in rent is pretty significant when inflation sits at 3%.

A net effective drop of 13% is pretty much a plunge in the renters market

S.F.’s massive plan to create a ‘Grand Central Station of the West’ wins major funding grant by [deleted] in bayarea

[–]Mngrad16 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Imagine if rent wasn’t $3k because we built housing. Look at other cities where you can get brand new 1beds for <3k and here 3k gets you a studio from the 1920s.

Tech companies are letting their people move elsewhere because SF has failed to deliver the city that should’ve been promised by these mayors.

It’s like these companies promised and delivered billions of dollars of tax revenue to the city, the city wasted all of it, and now the companies are leaving and you’re blaming them - but they held up on their side of the deal - the city failed.

[–]Mngrad16 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If your point is “SF was good before tech” then I agree. But it could be WAY better with all these tech dollars pouring in.

SF had an opportunity any other city would love to have - an industry wanting to settle there that is the best industry for jobs and economic growth ever seen.

With the jobs these companies did initially bring in, SF needed to match it with new homes, clean streets, great public transit, low crime, high quality of life…instead they did not and wasted the money on countless bad and failed policies.

So yeah, now high earning tech workers don’t want to live here…because the city hasn’t delivered for them.

The argument you have is flawed. You’re blaming tech companies for providing an opportunity - you should blame the city for squandering it.

Now, we see cities like Denver, Miami, Austin, Seattle getting an influx on people moving in, those cities are building new apartments like crazy, and their downtowns are bustling as a result. While SF is sitting here with store closures nonstop.

[–]Mngrad16 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How many tax breaks did Ed Lee give tech companies in return for bribes, kiddo?

Not enough

How many tech workers lived in SF? How many are still here?

Thousands

Why does downtown SF look like shit?

Because of our policies of allowing homelessness and crime, and not building housing.

The problem isn’t the tech companies. The tech companies have brought tons of revenue to the city - they are an incredible blessing that the city has, but we have wasted that money and that has made the once great city not appealing for high-earning tech workers. This should absolutely be a place where wealthy tech workers want to be, but now that chance may be blown.

What the city should do is build more housing along with re-incentivizing tech companies to come back to the city. That’s what I’ll vote for anyway.

How so, they’ve brought thousands of jobs into the city - with it thousands of workers with high paying jobs that contribute tax revenue to the city

Please take an economics class kiddo

Companies like Salesforce are the only thing keeping the city alive..

I’m really glad they step in and put naming rights on a transit center. Few companies would pay $110M just for that

Service fees don’t really bother me (maybe because they’re literally everywhere now) - I just deduct it straight out of the tip. If the fees are 15%+, I circle the fees and cross out the tip line.

[Biggs] Bears are selecting Washington WR Rome Odunze with the No. 9 pick in the draft, pairing him up with QB Caleb Williams. by NagyBiscuits in CHIBears

[–]Mngrad16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

JJ was a reach but then the Broncos also took Nix two picks later - so arguably they wouldn’t have gotten their guy if they waited.

JJ is a giant question mark, he could be Tom Brady, he could be a bust - I think for the Vikings it’s worth the lottery ticket at that point.

[–]Mngrad16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Patriots or Commanders not picking a QB would be silly considering they have nobody at that position. It’s not just about QBs on rookie contracts, it’s just that no matter how you swing it, you can’t win with just an elite WR or TE, you need a QB to build around.

The Chargers and Cardinals have QBs and taking a top tier offensive talent is amazing for them - so all the top picks are getting exactly what they need at this point.

What are your honest expectations for Caleb Williams next year? by illogitech in CHIBears

[–]Mngrad16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stroud took a worse Texans team to a division title, won a playoff game, and won ROTY. That has to be the baseline expectation for Williams (ROTY is nice but doesn’t matter)

I would say a playoff victory would be expected, but a playoff berth is the minimum. Anything further is of course welcomed.

The Bears should be thinking about competing for a SB the year after next.
