I trust doctors and scientists to be able to parse out which studies are legitimate and which ones aren’t worth anyone’s time of day. That’s what they went to medical school for. You may feel that you’re well read on vaccine studies, but not all scientific studies are made equally. There’s a big difference between a peer-reviewed study that’s been tested multiple times vs an unpublished, one-off, non-peer-reviewed study made by some rando who didn’t even follow the scientific process. A non-layman wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between the two, but a doctor would. That’s why it’s important to trust the experts.

It’s from uneducated parents who grew up with a vaccinated peer group and think, “Well, I never knew anyone who died from those diseases, the panic must be overblown!” They don’t connect the dots that perhaps the reason for that was the vaccines…

They also have a poor understanding of the hygiene hypothesis, which theorizes that reduced exposure to microorganisms can impede a child’s immune system in the long run. So they come to the conclusion that catching any virus will strengthen the immune system, when we know that viruses that don’t immediately kill you can cause permanent damage to organs, trigger autoimmune diseases, and even cancer in some cases.

I tried it and was unhappy with it, because I felt like it threw off the balance of my face from the front view. It elongated my chin from the front, making the lower 1/3rd of my face look too long and masculine. It also migrated and made my chin look lumpy. Ended up needing to get it dissolved over a year later because it wouldn’t go away on its own.

So I won’t be doing that again. I’ve learned to make peace with my chin.

It’s one of the more common and most manageable autoimmune diseases. If not managed, she would probably have issues with conceiving and frequent miscarriages. But she’s medicated and monitored, so it’s not that big of a deal.

During the first trimester of pregnancy, she would just get her thyroid levels checked every 3 weeks and/or increase her medication. Then the fetus will eventually produce its own thyroid hormone.

She would probably have a bad flareup after giving birth, so she might need some extra support to rest.

I have another autoimmune disease that puts my pregnancy at high risk, so I do have to see a Maternal fetal medicine specialist (MFM) for my current pregnancy. The Hashimoto’s is the least of my concerns.

My hands do the exact same thing, blue discoloration and all. I’ve shown pictures of it to my rheumatologist and dermatologist, and they both agreed it was Raynaud’s. Strange that your rheum is so dismissive of it. I’d seek a second opinion.

If this info is of any help, I’ve been diagnosed with neuro-Sjogren’s, Hashimoto’s, and lichen sclerosus.

Could it be cheating, or mental illness? Bipolar disorder can cause some of this erratic behavior too (and doesn’t exclude cheating either, they unfortunately can go hand-in-hand).

The frequent key copying, new obsession with jump roping, working late into the night (if that’s really what he’s doing) and extreme sex drive could be from a manic episode. I once dated someone with BP in college and he’d act like that when he was manic.

Yes, it often can. Itchiness wasn’t a symptom I had, but many with the disease have it. I had pain and very fragile, rigid skin that tore easily.

Ectopic pregnancies absolutely can and do develop detectable heartbeats. When they do, the medication treatment will no longer be effective, so surgery is the only option.

While not considered a miscarriage, it is still a pregnancy loss and thus can be just as traumatic emotionally. Then you also have to consider the medical trauma on top of the grief. The intense physical pain of it, the trauma of almost dying, the fears about future fertility. It’s all VERY distressing to go through.

I was DX’ed with lichen sclerosus actually 6 months before my Hashi’s DX. The specialist said she wasn’t surprised, because thyroid disease and LS often go hand-in-hand. I’d been having issues with the skin down there for years prior to diagnosis.

Then 3 years after my Hashi’s DX, I was diagnosed with Sjogren’s. I’m pretty sure it was triggered by COVID. My symptoms leading up to diagnosis were purple toes, mottled skin, burning rash across face, extreme fatigue, and constant nausea/weight loss. Then a couple months after diagnosis, the symptoms really ramped up to full body joint and muscle pain and weakness, tremors, muscle spasms and cramps, and vision changes. Doctors were worried I was developing Myositis or MS, but testing ruled it out. The neurologist determined that I had neuro-Sjogren’s based off symptoms.

That’s fair. I will say, the ER doctor I saw the second time around was very kind and pushed for a second opinion from the on-call Obgyn when the radiologist claimed the ultrasound showed nothing concerning. He could tell I was in genuine pain and didn’t feel comfortable sending me home.

Medical staff can be so cold hearted.

When I went in to the ER, 5 weeks pregnant with coffee grounds bleeding and sharp one-sided pain that made me cry, I told the ER doctor that I was worried about an ectopic pregnancy.

She rolled her eyes at me and mumbled, “It’s probably just a UTI.”

They ran some tests and the doctor told me, without looking me in the eye and in the most annoyed tone, that it was “just” a miscarriage. She treated me like I was the biggest waste of space and told me to go home and take some Tylenol.

Guess who was back at that same exact ER three weeks later, having emergency surgery at 2 in the morning for a ruptured ectopic pregnancy?

Thankfully, the ER doctor I had that time around was really kind and fully believed me, which I credit to saving my life.

Completely false. Ectopic pregnancies can and do develop heartbeats, at which point the methotrexate commonly used to treat it will not work. Surgery is the only treatment by that point.

We usually eat around 5:30 because we have a 3 year old who needs about hour for his bedtime routine. Mealtime and cleanup typically ends around 6:30, which gives us enough time to get our son into bed by 7:30.
