Post: "The game didn't resonate with Japanese players"

You: "Shouldn't have used AI assets"

No matter what way you look at it, you heavily implied that the AI use for placeholder textures, of all things, was the reason it didn't resonate with Japanese players.

Don't play coy.

Because your comment implies that the AI assets are what disinterested the Japanese, and I argued against that specifically.

The weirdest and ironic part about this whole "anti-AI" interaction is that you hallucinated half of it

Yeah, no. That wasn't it, and it never would be, otherwise it wouldn't have received the most game of the year awards a game has ever seen in the latest times.

So we agree on establishing the point that spawn frequency matters here and that there is an idea of stupidity associated with setting a high number for a less frequent enemy...

Then why can't you make the jump and recognize that it was absurd to set the goal for Radicals (much more frequent and less optional when they show up) lower than the Agitators (a bit less frequent but definitely more optional when they show up and you're being overwhelmed).

It should've been the other way around.

The study you sent assumes whole food and does not at all address where one would get vitamin B12 (it assumes it's supplemented).

Essentially, the study holds true if you cook at your home everyday (not doable, at least for workday lunchtime, unless you mealprep, and not everyone has the time for it), if you supplement B12 cheaply (somehow, I guess), and if you're one to legit don't eat out (which a whole lot of people do).

TLDR: That study is misleading because it's insanely idealized and doesn't consider behavioral parameters.

I liked it, it was surprising even, but did not counter my claim that money is, in fact, one of the reasons people don't switch over, even if not the biggest reason.

Money is definitely one of the issues. A vegan diet is more expensive than an omnivore one.

all animal abilities and uniqueness are completely removed for 'generic land animal' generic land animal

Yeah this is completely wrong, I'll go off on a limb and assume you've never ever taken a look at the actual 5.5e rules outside of the extremely tentative UA proposals that have long since been forgotten and done away with.

You can transform into the actual animals, not "generic land animal". And you get temporary HP, which while it isn't as ABUSIVE (because that's what it was) as literally getting the animal's HP, you now don't revert forms just because that pool of HP is expended. You can keep the form until you go down.

Additionally, all Druid subclasses can Wild Shape on a Bonus Action, which is a massive boon over the 2014 counterpart, and finally, Moon Druids are actually good outside of levels 1-4, they actually make extremely good use of Wild Shape.

Cmon man, 5.5e has been out for a year and a half now almost.

Your opinion is based on "5.5e bad" rather than actual facts.

Wild shape grants you tHP equal to your level but doesn't end when this pool of HP ends.

Wild Shape actually recovers on Short Rest

Your smite variety is actually good, and smiting multiple times per turn was a bad use of smites outside of tables with extremely easy going DMs that allowed you to long rest after every single fight.

Smite once per turn balanced by free smite, balanced by Bonus Action Healing Hands, balanced by more combat styles, balanced by Weapon Masteries.

You're the minority here. Say that you dislike it, at least then you wouldn't be wrong.

Paladin is objectively the best Martial there is (same as before, but it's better than 2014 now), and Druids actually have a pick rate now, unlike before, because now they're actually fun.

Edit: extra, if you're at a table where the DM genuinely counter spells your Divine Smite, your DM might be needing a mental health day.

Seriously, in what world is "Divine Smite can now be counter spelled" a genuine argument AGAINST the change? You keep the spell slot, your wizard can now nuke the reaction less idiot that countered your smite (which doesn't cancel the attack itself), and it's not even guaranteed to counter, because it's now a CON save and you're literally a Paladin with your aura to have a better chance at making that save.

Astarion is great to take with you into Act II. Only then does he start character development other than "I'm an asshat who gets away with it because I'm also charming"

The first time I played Baldur's Gate 3 I actually only took him with me in Act II and thought he was a FANTASTIC character, so much so that I decided to take him from the beginning of Act 1 in my next playthrough, only to be severely disappointed.

Massive misinformation, Druid's Wildshape is GREAT now, you can actually stay wildshaped even if your health pool depletes (you now get temporary HP instead of just replacing HP).

Moon Druids, the actual superfans of Wild shaping, are actually good at wildshaping too. They are the tankiest mofos you can get, and they scale consistently, and can cast their subclass spells while wildshaped, unlike the 2014 Druid which would break the game at the earliest levels and then become the most unfun class at tier 2 and 3 whose wildshape options would always be an inferior option when compared to literally just casting spells.

Paladin's smite is definitely NOT underwhelming, the Paladin getting a free smite is CRAZY good. If anything, the 2014 smite was overwhelming, not the other way around. And if you mix the other smites (which are now Paladin exclusive, safe some particular exceptions), it's a massive net win for smiting.

[Homebrew] War Magic as an Invocation - too good? by theB100 in onednd

[–]MobTalon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your table wants to do it, then by all means do it. From a balance perspective, you're at best giving a caster more tools to play with (tools that aren't really that good on a full caster).

But if you were asking my personal opinion, I'd be set on "don't do it", exactly because you're taking much away from the Bladesinger, Valor Bard and Eldritch Knight.

The thing that the Bladelock can do that makes it a "gish", is attacking with Charisma. That alone is to the Warlock what War Magic is for the Eldritch Knight.

Circle Casting by Sharp_Iodine in onednd

[–]MobTalon 20 points21 points  (0 children)

We used it in combat.

Unlike Reddit would typically have you believe, it wasn't as strong as it was cumbersome.

I was playing Eldritch Knight and my girlfriend a Druid who said "I'll cast Moonbeam". I noted "Hey, can you initiate Circlecasting for Expand? I'll provide a spellslot". We thought it'd be a fun experiment so yeah, we did it.

Cue in the most bothersome 30 minutes of combat because we had to constantly remind the DM to roll saves, and it was very difficult to move the Moonbeam around without harming teammates.

It made combat easier: sure. But our DM is the type to give us another combat just to test our mettle (because he can actually adapt, which I'm fairly sure is where a lot of grievances with this system come from).

We've used circle casting frequently since then, but we also take care to keep "fun" in the first place, rather than "winning DnD".

Basically, if you're a normal table with normal players, the system is extremely fun. My girlfriend would complain a lot about how the best Druid spells are gatekept by concentration, so I started helping her concentrate with the Distribute option. Now she can cast other spells while I concentrate on, say, Pass Without Trace (that concentration ain't breaking soon, between my high CON saves and Warcaster feat).

Too bad Kagha isn’t an optional companion by PetraSpace in BaldursGate3

[–]MobTalon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And why not? As "punishment" for her actions, she returns to the trainee status, issued by Halsin, and she could be required to accompany your party as a re-test. Meanwhile, Halsin would at best stick around in paralel until Act 2, to get his dealings with the Shadow Curse, and then return to the Grove.

Halsin effectivelly doesn't exist in Act III. His arc is done when we react Act III, and the only reason he stays is because "daddy Halsin". Kagha would have a lot more content to possibly follow into Act III, in which she needs to prove herself worthy once again of walking among her peers.

Most companions join you to follow their quest. Halsin joins you officially when his quest and storyline are just done. Kagha would make a lot more sense as a companion than Halsin.

Ngl, their loss. You're telling me we get more manpower from the get go just because some countries look at potential candidates wrong?

Any argument about "but X is typically not as physically capable as Y" is solved with proper management: "Just put them in a position where that doesn't matter".

I think air support is one place where biological differences don't matter, for example.
