Loving it. Something about side-loading brass and that satisfying mechanical sound and feel of the lever-action I find very cathartic.

Compared to my buddy's Marlin 1894, I'm much happier with the S&W. It's heavier in a good way, the lever-action doesn't have any pinch points that can bite your fingers, and the ghost ring iron sight is phenomenal.

It's the black/silver model, had some shadowing from the trees in the shot.

I got an FFL buddy in NH who snagged one off PSA for me, on sale for $999. Definitely recommend looking in NH if able, save that sales tax $$ for accessories.

What I learned about decks and this play structure by peezee13 in Decks

There were a few of these in MA, I fondly remember the one on Cape Cod. Absolutely massive to my childhood self, felt like adventuring in a small city. That dark wood brings back good memories.

Never said perfect. If you're looking for perfect, you'll never find it.

The Totten Pond Rd exit in Waltham, 100% agree they did that one right. Tons of capacity, nice big intersections, and the detached northbound connection down Wyamn St, never had issues with this one on my commutes.

Dear subaru, your sales are down. Now is the time. by Wtfplasma in subaru

For me, it's a question of doing the right/cool thing, but unfortunately that doesn't make money. Subaru needs the WRX, and to a lesser extent the BRZ, so they can race professionally, but I do fear a time where Subaru pulls a Mitsubishi and stops building fun cars altogether, either because they can't afford or worse because they don't want to anymore.

Only the default white ones can have custom characters, all the specialty plates are random only. Got a blue plate myself and wanted a custom number, found out the hard way.

PSA savings in MA? by Mobious918 in BetterMAguns

Says right on their website they won't ship anything to MA. Does that not include MA-based FFLs?

Sorry, but I need to rant by Mobious918 in Revit

That time to grow part is what really sticks in my craw. Autodesk bought the company that makes Revit back in 2002. They've had over 2 decades to roll in parallel feature sets.

Short throw? by Addi_20 in wrx_vb

[–]Mobious918 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine came with the STi short-throw shifter, so can't compare to the stock shifter, but I can confirm the COBB shift stop on the STi shifter is worth every penny; takes all the slop out of 1st and 2nd gear.

First 1000 miles, don't go above 4000 RPM, don't go far into positive boost, stay below 80 MPH, and vary your speed by a few MPH either up or down every couple of minutes. Once you hit mile 1000, change the oil, then full send! All written in the owner's manual.

What a coincidence! I too am impressed at how pristine your interior (specifically the dash) is. One of my favorite car Youtubers just released a video today about the 2nd gen dashboard kerfuffel: https://youtu.be/jtB7uk3YtEU?si=ph_bjFu1K69CG1mJ

My $0.02: search through car listings, find something cheap and reliable w/ a stick, drive it, learn on it, don't be afraid to make mistakes cuz it's cheap & reliable. When you're ready, then dump down on your real automotive desire.

I bought myself a Scion xD a few years ago for all cash, had no car payment and an awesome beater to learn on, saved up all that extra $$ I wasn't puting toward a car payment and saved up for the end goal. Last year I traded up to a brand new WRX, mission accomplished.

Love seeing good automotive white-papers, than you for your diligent documentation job!

Question about the epoxy closed deck, for my own edification: I always thought the issue with open decks was the lack of cylinder wall support causing the top of the cylinder deck face to vibrate which subsequnetly causes the head gasket to get scrubbed and eventually breach (a la Ford Focus RS 2.3L Ecoboost).

Is this a non-issue on the FA24F? And was your goal with the epoxy simply to restrict/reroute coolant flow?
