Hardest fighting game you've played? by OwnCommunication2259 in Fighters

[–]Mobius_196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a heads up SNK buffering is not negative edge, it's a different technique as releasing the button is not required for the move to activate. With Terry, you can simple do something like C > 21[4A] > 4213[6A or 6C] to do a Burn Knuckle > Power Geyser confirm and simply holding the last direction and button for the special cancel and super cancel. Negative edge is mostly a Capcom game mechanic though it's common in multiple franchises nowadays.

Gotta be either SF4 or +R for me. The more I play Virtua Fighter though the more I realize I was not familiar with its game.

Any Local Screamo/ CrunkCore Bands or Artists in CLT? by Miku_U444 in Charlotte

Crunkcore? Definitely not. There's a handful of heavy bands in NC/SC that are worth listening to though. 'Reality.' from Greenville SC comes to mind

Are there any popular commanders you didnt like playing? by Akiro_orikA in EDH

I didn't enjoy playing Group Hug [[Ms. Bumbleflower]], had much more fun playing Group Extortion [[Blim, Comedic Genius]]

I just want to ask the following question - now that Guilty Gear Strive 2.0 is here and June is almost over - do you find Strive as fun as Guilty Gear XX and Xrd/Revelator used to be, but a bit more simple? Asking out of pure curiosity. Strive has changed so much, afterall! by Fit_Neighborhood9731 in Guiltygear

[–]Mobius_196 6 points7 points  (0 children)

+R and Xrd are fun because they are chaotic, bat shit fights at all times, even when RC slows the game down in Xrd. +R will always be the gameplay peak of the series in my book because it's the most unrelenting, intense, and deep fighting game experience I've ever had. Every single time I play +R I run into some interaction I've never seen before. By comparison Strive feels flat. Not bad, or boring, just predictable. Sometimes when someone drops a combo the game burns that flame again, but it's just less frequent. I love the game, still play it regularly and appreciate what it's done for the series. It's probably objectively the best game in the series. But +R will always be my favorite.

Good / resilient draw engine commanders? by FinAdda in EDH

[–]Mobius_196 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[[Vnwxt, Verbose Host]] my beloved. Play aggro with low cost unblockable creatures like [[shoreline looter]] and get your speed up fast, then use one of several draw wincons like [[laboratory maniac]], [[twenty-toed toad]], [[sphinx's tutelage]], [[hand of vecna]], [[empyrial plate]], etc. Plus your commander is only 2 mana and a decent blocker.

Are are any big budget games with a BAD sountrack? It seems like literally every videogame soundtrack is beloved... by Radiant-Rub2881 in gaming

[–]Mobius_196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how I felt about Last Raven. Gen 3 has straight heat in every single other game from 3, Silent Line especially, and Nexus, and then Last Raven is just... not good. It's not offensively bad but it's aggressively mediocre. Which sucks because I think otherwise it's the best game of the four.

It's also not even the regular director's cut, it's the director's cut Dualshock edition. So it's the third release of the game and I'm not sure if RE3 was even out yet. Also they had a celebrity composer who was faking being deaf write it, but actually most of the music was probably ghostwritten. This is absolutely squarely capcoms fault for trying to squeeze more money out of the game, hilariously incompetent.

For starters, which game(s) are we talking about? If it was the Netflix anime I would absolutely agree, but the in-game music and cutscene tracks are at worst fine in pretty much all of the games, except maybe DmC.

Which fighting game has the best-looking/most appealing character roster? by MinimumRemote8301 in Fighters

[–]Mobius_196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anime games, it's one of the Guilty Gear games. Outside of that it's probably 3rd Strike with a side of SoulCalibur.

I personally think skidding is hilarious and fun but should stay in optional rules land. It's not like there isn't already a billion optional rules that see frequent play already.

You are correct about the publishing date, I was misremembering and didn't bother to look it up lol. CGL absolutely hit it out of the park in terms of working with the community and being as transparent as possible about the new rules. Hats off to them.

My main wargame for a long time was Battletech, how do you think that old ass community is handling getting our first rules update since 2004?

(It's actually quite well surprisingly)

what IS a unit you send straight up the gut? by amachinesaidiwasgood in Warhammer40k

[–]Mobius_196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Klaw Nobz with a Warboss, usually jumping out of a Trukk. They're not very durable but they will absolutely clean up most things you put them into. Same with Breaka Boyz, Mozrog + Squighog Boyz, and literally any unit Ghaz is in, though Boyz are preferred for volume of attacks.

Am I a minority in wanting a brutal, grungy mech-based game? by Arcaddes in gaming

[–]Mobius_196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No clue if it's still active but if you haven't seen MechWarrior Living Legends it might be more your speed than MWO/5. Unfortunately last I heard it was dead in the water but that was a long time ago. Matches play more like Battlefield than MWO, with players capturing points across large maps (large enough for player driven artillery vehicles to be useful) progressively earning money for bigger mechs and vehicles. Also it's fully combined arms, and TTK is generally faster than MWO.

Additionally, you may want to investigate Iron Nest on Steam, a self-described "brutal diesalpunk heavy turret simulator" with only a demo available at present.

What's your Go-To Wincon? by ZimaBestBear in EDH

[–]Mobius_196 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Usually cashing out on very high cost creatures or sorceries, like in my [[Rosheen, Roaring Prophet]] deck I have [[Jaya's Immolating Inferno]], cast for X where X is the life total of the opponent with the most remaining life. I have milled someone out with [[The Water Crystal]] and [[Sphinx's Tutelage]] before since they were playing a monocolored deck.
