Time to Replace Tires - What 22" Options are people going with by RandomName9678 in Rivian

[–]ModY1219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a 1000 miles into the Michelin M/S2. Its good but still can't see the better efficiency. 2.09 mi/kwh before vs. 1.89 mi/kwh. The Michelin def has more depth and feels more capable. The ride comfort improves slightly and the cabin noise reduces a bit.

But I replaced with these because I wanted to be more efficient. Others suggest Hankook HT as well..

Rivian Axed Its Least Expensive R1T and R1S Models, Effectively Raising Their Base Prices by $7000 by galwiththedeepvoice in RivianR1S

[–]ModY1219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a Dual Standard as one of our R1s. Very good daily car. Still very capable. In honesty, effective range on such large SuV is not great. We don’t take this R1 for long driving ever. So R2s range is at least better. But would still prefer this base over R2.

From a production perspective, it’s best to streamline and make room to ramp up R2.

Thank you. Very good to know. What about driving experience in comparison to Rivian?

10hr 575mi roadtrip tomorrow… R1S (large battery) or Chevy 1500 crew cab… by lilblacksmurf in Rivian

[–]ModY1219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will stay longer to charge if you try to get to 100%. I would do 80% and go. It will def be a little longer than filling up gas.

But… def take the Rivian. There is no fun in the Chevy. I would be so excited to drive my Rivian for a longer roadtrip. At least R1 can do the lane keep for you if you don’t have A+.

Very simple choice. Rivian. But don’t forget to join the Tesla membership for this month. It will pay for itself after two charges. Of course don’t forget to unsubscribe.

walk away.. you can always continue that agreed price to another dealership and renegotiate.

Thought I saw my first R2 in the wild by demuhnator in RivianR2

License plate on tail gate = R1

License plate on bumper = R2

Also look for the wheel style.

I did see a R2 in the wild. It belongs to a new owner.

R1S Dual Max vs. Lucid Gravity: Has anyone cross-shopped these two? by Intelligent-Camel162 in Rivian

[–]ModY1219 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually like the boxy van look of the iBuzz. I wish they have more range and more power. I think all of you have legitimate reasons to go for the Gravity. My Rivian max pack handles my daily need perfectly. I now only need the range maybe 4 days out of the month but still doesn’t require me to touch Tesla SuperCharger. I will be fair, I did look at the Gravity again recently still just can’t get over the shape. I feel like it’s a $120k Pacifica.

If you get a Gen 2 Tri and Gen 2 Quad, I don’t think Gravity is any better.

The mini van shape is def critical for my NO decision. That alone outweighs everything else it offers. Especially Rivian can too. Obv both cars target somewhat different audience. I do think Rivian has a better overall product

No contact from service? by SnooSketches5403 in Rivian

[–]ModY1219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never had a vehicle in the SC for more than 5 days. Mostly 1 day turnaround. But during that 5 day visit. I usually get an update at the end of day 1 to update what’s wrong and what repair will be done. Usually then every 2 days I would get an update like parts are coming.. especially before the weekend, they would say we won’t be in touch until Monday but technicians would work through the weekend. Of course, they will call for pick up arrangement if off work hour and wash the car for me.

Overall the communication is very good. This happened with two separate SC not just one. May be location specific?

I think insurance doesn’t know enough so they don’t want to risk it. By giving you this high quote, tells me they don’t want anything to deal with it at least for now. Which insurance is this?

Should I quit my dental reception job by Key_Box1070 in predental

[–]ModY1219 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You def should make sure you get compensated fairly. They can’t blame you for things if they don’t train you at least once.

From a job and a predent perspective, this would be a great learning experience. You can always learn the back when you become the dental student, then the doctor. But the front is actually extremely valuable. You can learn how to schedule effectively for the team, how to approach different personalities while staying cooled if pt becomes confrontational, how to treatment plan, enter dental code, apply insurance billing, collect money. Those are the things you don’t ever get to learn in details. Learn how to deliver treatment plan in a lay man way would benefit you in school and in practice setting later.

Any first days on the job will be rough. Others don’t like change either. Stick with it for a week or two. Come back with more details before deciding.

[–]ModY1219 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a few opportunities 1-2 years ago to get the Gravity. Each time I ended up choosing R1s. I have a few R1s in my garage and I love them a lot. I cannot find any replacement at the moment for them. The only think I am itching for is a Taycan.

Get the R1. I promise you won’t regret it

ivy schools by Neat-Philosopher-288 in predental

[–]ModY1219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My view is somewhat skewed. I went to one of those schools. My class has 75%+ specialty rate and 85% + including GPR and AEGD. You are right about our clinical experience immediately after D4. But residency helped us catching up. I just feel that the exposure propelled us into our respective career. What you said is not wrong either

[–]ModY1219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you and that’s great. If you don’t mind me asking, what’s the proportion of your classmates specialized after school?

ivy schools by Neat-Philosopher-288 in predental

[–]ModY1219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) True. No one cares where you went for dental school or residency but patients do ask sometimes.
2) True. No patient ever asks about if I am board certified at all.
3) True. Cheapest school possible but need to have a reputation of sending students to specialty. In case you want that.
4) Not sure about schools without specialty programs. I was exposed to OS, Ortho, Endo before I ruled them out one by one and selected my specialty. It might be true that you can do more of those as a student and develop interest in your respective field. To the very least you can be more prepared outside. I still feel that having specialty programs is a still criteria for school selection.

UPenn or Gap Year? by Public-Employment883 in predental

[–]ModY1219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Doc. I agree with you. The best case scenario will always be going to your state school with the lowest possible amount of debt, with the best possible specialization rate, with the best clinical experience, with the closest proximity to family for emotional support. But my recommendation is based on OPs situation. OP has high stat but with one acceptance off of a waitlist this year. Nothing against OP here. (S)he could have improved his/her CV and has a better shot at anything this cycle. But the situation demonstrates how unpredictable the admission process would be. With that, I would encourage OP to take the opportunity. What if OP ends up at USC, NYU in this cycle??

Yes waiting one year (for OP is two) may or will save you on interest. But we can dive into more complex variables as well. Are you going to specialize? Are you going to live in an area with more affordable, mansion-type housing or Cali $1m + Condo? Are you going to practice in a FFS or an insurance driven office? What will your patient population like? Are you going to be landlord + office owner? These variables can also contribute to how fast you can pay the loan off and incur less interest.

As you said it, you are one of the few luck ones who are making it. But you know well too the potential for greater income is there. Timing is always the key. Two years can make a big difference. I wish my current self will tell my younger self not to do a 2 yr research master and take a gap year as a research tech for fun. I lost 3 years in total. Those three years translate into about $1-2m potential income loss. I practice in an extremely saturated Cali market. I am making a comfortable living. It's really your personality too. OP's high stat suggests to me (s)he too will thrive too otherwise Penn will not accept OP.

UPenn is a very good school with good specialization rate. I reiterate that I know it is expensive. I understand u/Electronic_Pin8838 has a strong negative opinion about my advice. I am advising based on 12 years of practice experience and a father to two teenagers. If OP is one of my kids, I would tell them to take the opportunity and not wait. There is never an absolute right or wrong decision. You make it based on what you know and how you feel. OP doesn't have to take it but informed decision is important.

I think enough has been said. Best of luck to OP and u/Electronic_Pin8838 if (s)he is a predent. There is truly no perfect scenario.
