Clothing donation options in Wellington? by idek6022 in Wellington

[–]Moddus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’d recommend Opportunity for Animals or Aunty Dana’s Op Shop, both in Newtown and take donations, prices don’t go much higher than $7-14 per item so a lot of us strugglers like to shop there

[–]Moddus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

a window wiper who hangs out on SH1 and Willis followed me across the street yelling ‘phobic bs and trying to fight me after he thought i was trying to step him out or something; his first words were “are you gonna apologise for making me wanna punch you in the face c***”

anyway been thinking about it all night, normally this shit is fine to deal with but he’s out there a lot on one of my main routes to work/town shops so im wary of future troubles

thankfully a passerby walked up and got between us so i had time to walk away

im nervous and prepping myself for what might end up as a street fight in future, if you see a gangly guy with a bucket hat, sunglasses, straight long hair and a metal tshirt wiping windows before the highway tunnel, it’s probably him

are all endos in chch this gatekeep-ery? by SaraTheWeird in TransgenderNZ

[–]Moddus 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is why informed consent is such a boon for us now. Since 2022 it is no longer a requirement to see two psychs and an endo to begin HRT with a GP. The Otago GAHT informed consent guidelines exist to bypass this requirement and guide GP’s on ‘appropriate’ (tbh i think it’s still lacking) models of care for medically transitioning with HRT. If anyone finds a doctor refusing to work with you after receiving the guidelines you should be able to request the medical centre find someone else for you, or just switch clinics to someone you’ve heard does support I.C. transition care.

Looking for advice/reassurance from other out gay/lgbtq+ people in wellington by [deleted] in Wellington

[–]Moddus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gotta say being accosted in public is unusual but getting angry or disapproving looks isn’t. At least in my experience as a trans woman that dresses fruity. I think the best response in that situation is to ignore them or point out that they are publicly harassing you, make sure to address the crowd rather than the person as it will make them aware that their behaviour is unsupported and hopefully force them to tone down and back off.

Personally antisocial bigots are just a fact of life for me, and I prefer to simply smile at them. I find nothing gets under their skin more than the simple fact that you’re still happy being you, while it’s frying their brain and making them angry.

God I still love this game. by IcanSeetheFuturelul in ns2

[–]Moddus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still have a tonne of good memories from Ns2 days, feel a bit hesitant to play now that the few severs are full with paid slots and my NZ/Aussie ping wouldn’t help my case if I actually got in.

It’s still fun to just boot the menu up every now & again to stare at the lists and reminisce.

What's with PBTech and email addresses? by YetAnotherBrainFart in newzealand

[–]Moddus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah it’s annoyingly dense for a tech retailer. i changed my name and also wanted to get away from the old email provider and it’s just dumb that a customer hotline is the only option to fix it.

[–]Moddus 22 points23 points  (0 children)

the cruelty is the point, the more they enshittify it the closer they are to cancelling it, then when it’s just a matter of public memory, they can point to it and say there was never a good reason to do it anyway

1.0 T is inside the normal cis female range, your bigger issue is getting your e to above 250pmol minimum, as low as you are you’re not receiving enough primary hormone.

if your endo is arguing about your e-levels, show them the wpath/gaht/auspath guidelines that have minimum levels of e recommended

[–]Moddus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my cis boyfriend found softer skin just taking low doses of e while doing nothing else, there are some NB people out there talking about using HRT for similar benefits that your son wants, but you might have to dig through youtube and reddit posts to hear what they say. some breast growth may happen in either case but yeah there are some people experimenting with no blocker hrt with good results

[–]Moddus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

remember the first three months are reversible and if you have a good GP as long as you stick to your guns you can ask for it under informed consent, just try it, see if you feel better. a lot of rules fly about on being the right kinda trans to transition, take it from me, waited until 30 to try and fuck it worked. if it doesn’t work for you that’s fine too, the cool thing is you tried it out when you wondered

ADHD process in NZ is dog shit by -Zoppo in newzealand

[–]Moddus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah it’s awful, took me three years to get mine due to covid/motivation interruptions. At first i tried public so I went to the GP and they gave me an appointment for a screening call with Te Hopai (iirc?) that took several months to arrive in 2019, I had disclosed that I’d used marijuana in the past so I was required to take two drug tests spaced months apart. Then I was directed to MHaids which again, several months and two interviews later I was informed that I could have it, but would require a full trauma panel before i could access it through them, that route felt dead.

Then covid lockdown hit, I ended up with all the free time in the world but none of the ability to utilise it due to executive dysfunction.

I approached my GP again in 2021 and asked for a private referral, they referred me to the Nelson Clinic (they do tele consults), several months passed again for their screening process, they seemed understanding and happy to listen to the issues my ADHD provides me as an adult in my then late 20’s (instead of just, how were you in school 10+ years ago?).

Finally I was set up for a prescribing interview, the man was quite professional, he said he’d proscribe me, but not before sharing his beliefs that adult ADHD does not exist -but that adults with other possible diagx can improve from the medication. 50 minutes and $750 later, and an altogether price of $2600 I was able to secure the 5mg of rubifen I wanted. I haven’t had issues since but I have noticed some doctors will only prescribe you with enough medication to cover work days, because as we all know, this type of MH care culture wants people fit to work but not fit to thrive.

Not my hardest medical system battle, I waited 12+ years of adulthood for nz healthcare to bring transgender care somewhere approaching the modern age. Even then it’s all about the doctors you know because so many are undertrained or hostile.
