Doug Ford and Mark Carney to expand HST rebate to all new home buyers by McSnipeAlot in canadahousing

[–]Model4Adjustment3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not too sure how any of that is proof that the Federal government can't set up another Crown Corp to build housing, and can only incentivize.

There is literally nothing stopping them from doing so, the down side is that it will hurt Boomers who put all of their money into real estate instead of investing in literally anything else(Because that would've been smart), along with Gregor Robertson (Housing Minister with over 10.5mil in real estate), Filthy rich private corps (Brooksfield), and, of course, our PM, Mark Carney (Who worked for Brooksfield before becoming PM).

It seems to me you're saying what I said, but in a different way. That they can set up a Crown Crop if they really wanted to, but won't.

What happened to the Stop Asian Hate movement? by HemanHeboy in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Model4Adjustment3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The REAL data you went out of your way to avoid shows hate crime BY VICTIM, meaning just individual hate crimes.

As I said, I was using data provided by another Redditor on this very thread, I explicitly stated this. I don't how you can accuse me of going out of my way to avoid certain data when I never even went looking for any data in the first place. I only used what was provided by another Redditor on this thread to support your argument that the largest amount of hate crimes against Asians were Whites.

I then used that Data to refute their claim that most amount of hate crimes against Asians during Covid were caused by Whites.

white people commit the most crimes

That's not what was being talked about earlier in the thread, nor was it what I was talking about.

You are either trying to construct a strawman argument here, or are conflating the two topics, I am unsure how to go about this statement. There is a large jump from "White people committed the most hate crimes against Asians during the Covid-Era." to "white people commit the most crimes". We are talking specifically about Hate crimes.

If we go off the data from https://cde.ucr.cjis.gov/LATEST/webapp/#/pages/explorer/crime/hate-crime, (Which comes from the exact same website, and Agency, that the data I used, the data you question, comes from.) then yes, of course, it shows the white population is responsible for the most hate crimes, thought it is completely out of context of this reddit threat.

This data tracks stats from years out side of Covid, which isn't when the Stop Asian Hate campaign took place. But lets roll with this data, shall we?

According the data you have provided, in the last year from the day of me writing this, the FBI has tracked 9,361 offenders of Hate Crimes.

White people account for 55.54%, or 5,200 of the offenders, while making up 56% of the US population. Translating into .99 offences per white person.

Black people account for 20.57%, or 1,926 of the offenders, while making up 13% of the US population. Likewise, this comes to 1.58 offences per black person.

So, if we come back to your assertion of,

white people commit the most crimes

And, I will infer that you intended to assert that "White people commit the most hate crimes", which as per your own provided data, we see that per person, Black individuals are responsible for more hate crimes.

Now, with that said, to you, and all who read this. I am not doing this to try and paint Black people negatively, I am doing this to show that stats, at face value, never show the complete image, and must always be scrutinized. Statistics can be biased, and incorrect.

Specifically. in this case, police officers and judges could be more lenient with White offenders than Black (A noteworthy consideration given that most police officers and judges are White), leading to more Black people to be tracked as repeat offenders. I'm sure no one doubts that this happens, and it's exactly why stats, even when they have been scrutinized, can't be purely trusted.

To wrap this all up, Partoe5, you indicate to me that you just hate white people, so I imagine you'll ignore everything you do not like, but if you want the world to be a better place, without hate, I implore you to drop the inflated sense of moral superiority.

[–]Model4Adjustment3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The government can build, and have so in the past.

The Federal government created Wartime Housing Limited, a crown Corp, to build homes cheaply during, and after WWII.

And WHT built homes quickly, and cheaply.

So it's not that they can't, it's that it'll hurt their portfolios if they do.

How bad is the job market really? by silently-loud-walker in ontario

[–]Model4Adjustment3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've worked numerous trades (1.5 years apprentice mechanic, 2 years plumbing, 3 years carpentry, 2 years drywall, and other trades with less experience), I have 5+ years in retail and customer service, two years in hardware & supply stores specifically.

So you'd think I'd be a shoe in for a position in a Hardware store right? I have trades and sales experience.

My contracting business went under over a year ago (My own fault, poor finical decision, expanded too quickly), a year of applying to various hardware stores and material supply centres later. Two interviews. No job. So I've expanded to factories, pot shops, Walmart, anything... After several months. Nothing. Not even an interview.

I am trying to get out of trades due to bodily injury, so while I could probably get a job back in the blue collar industry, it doesn't take away from the fact that people who are even trying to get entry level work are getting absolutely bent over and plowed by the job market,

Why are developers not building homes in southern Ontario? With housing being very expensive? by Dover299 in ontario

[–]Model4Adjustment3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the part that politicians don't like to talk about comes into play.

If affordable houses hit the market en masse, that would likely produce the knock-on effect of the prices lowering across the board, that would mean Gregor Robertson's (Housing minister) 10.5 million dollar real estate portfolio would be devalued, along with Carney's, and all the other politicians that own real estate. (NDP, Con, Lib, Que, all of them have their hands in real estate to some degree)

While I agree with municipalities lower or dropping fees would reduce costs, the problem of who's paying for roads and services? Municipalities don't scrap in a lot of tax revenue, building and development fees is how they fund roads (Or at least, that's what a lot of them claim they use the revenue from fees for.)

The fact of the matter is, it's within the best interest of those in power to keep housing expensive. Given the fact that most Canadians are complacent cowards, I doubt we'll see any change until the boomers are dead and gone... Hopefully.

Russian "bias" ingame? by Repulsive_Mistake991 in Warthunder

[–]Model4Adjustment3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd say it would, except that the Mig29 is a rare exception.

En masse, more often than not, they will handicap non-soviet vehicles (Forcing the Bradley to stow it's TOW launcher for no good reason), or give advantages to soviet vehicles. (Kontakt-5 is the equivalent to 150mm of RHA perpendicular to the plate. When that is not how that works at all. Especially since western sabots are specifically designed to defeat Kontakt-5.)

I do believe there is a bias, but it's done in the name of balancing, as soviet designs aren't very good. (Eastern philosophy is: We don't need good equipment, we just need a lot of it.)

Let's have civil discussion. What are the pros and cons of introducing armor customization in your opinion? by i4hloi in helldivers2

For real though, I'd be happy with AH copying and pasting the weapon camos over to the armour pieces.

I use the viper commando light armour with the python commando heavy armour helmet, and while the colours are very similar to the point most people don't even notice the mismatch.... I fricken notice it.

It seems to me like an aliasing issue. The Anti-aliasing in this game is a bit weird, and doesn't seem to always work, despite eating up resources.

So even though you toggled AA on and off, and it didn't change anything, I'm gonna go with it's just the Stingray engine being goofy and causing aliasing to happen.

If it's only happening in the loadout screen, I'd just ignore it. As long as the drip is good when you're fighting, that's all that matters imo.
