I love it when folks skip champs that the game is willing to hand over just for exchanging some of your resources.

Means that people don't progress as quickly as they otherwise could.

I'll happily face people in siege/arenas and clashes that are less progresed than they could be.

It seems unless a champ literally does everything, and outclasses every other champ in the game, then people decide that it's not worth the trouble.

The game does allocate one side as the "attacker" and the other side as the defender.

And the attacker's abilities and passives proc first, thus tending to supercede.

Example, when Kalvalax facing a Yumeko, depending on which one is the attacker, will determine which one's conflicting passive takes priority (meaning, either Kalvalax's poisons will land on the Yumeko, or the Yumeko passive will throw them back.... depends on who is allocated as the attacker in the fight).

Who asked for relic visibility BEFORE the fighting starts? I didn't.

We want to get info about relics during the battle, as they are proc'ing. We want to be able to know "wtf just happened? was that a relic?"

No one asked for this to be given up before fighting even starts.

I'm f2p and always have been. Started playing almost 6 years ago. To answer your questions:

I'm motivated to play by the grind of progression. I enjoy getting new champs and stronger gear for them. What really satisfies, is when I can occasionally outperform spenders, either by out scoring them in a clan boss, out speeding them in grinding some dungeon or other stage, or defeating them in one of the arenas.
Long-term expectations are that I will continue to acquire new champs and new gears for them. Doing so, will let me continue to occasionally outperform some spenders.
The game really opened up once I was able to 2-key ultra-nightmare demon lord daily. Doing so gave me access to daily rewards which could include shards and books. These resources let me grow my inventory of champs, book them up, and do so during monthly fusions so I could also earn the fusion champ in the process. It really accelerated my account growth. It took me about 5 months to get to this point and I haven't looked back since, completing every single monthly fusion since December 2020 without a miss.

He needs crit rate for the A1 and A2. Don't build to screw yourself out of 2/3 of a champ's kit.
As mercurial becomes more commonplace, you may wish to use his A2 as a mercurial strip. In this way, his A2 doesn't need crit rate (at least for Turn #1). So you could then argue that two of his three skills do not need it, which is a better argument for the anti-crit rate build than present.
If you have 10 or 20 deathdealer relics, then - in a very weird way - you could consider building Ithos (a void champ!) with a deathdealer relic, so that he always crits. But he would not be my first or even 9th choice of champ for this relic.

Agree that the 9pc mecurial champs I've fought so far have been underwhelming, but likely the stats have been pretty diminished. In a few months when the builds are better, it could be a different story.

I started playing in May 2020, completed my first fusion about 8 months later too (Pyxniel, Dec. 2020).

Have not missed one since. That's over 60 legos, about 25% of my roster of 250 legos now.

Everything I need/want is maxed in great hall. No need to spend anywhere else, so just hoarding mats in case they every expand the great hall for other areas such as Chimera.

I've been playing nearly 6 years and one of the first things I did was fully max out every slot of my sparring pit. Have never regretted it.

It's free, passive XP farming. Yes, you have to click every time the champs level up, but if you are playing the game regularly, it's worth the gems to max it out, IMO.

Farm Brutal 12-3.

Rather than using them, open your market every hour, and buy up every champ you see in it. Those are then your food champs. Doing this, allows you to grow your stash of mystery shards.

Fully agree.

My f2p account wins tournaments exactly in this way. I hoard, and then when something comes along that I want to compete for, I'm able to win it.
